Tantra is a meditation practice that uses the events and relationships of everyday life to reach spiritual awakening. Tantra looks upon every human diversion as fertile ground for transformation and, therein, a full and complete experience of life. How to be more in contact with life? How to be more fully alive? How to experience all of ourselves . . . and be comforted by what we find in the mysteries and revelations of simple moments lived in our bodies?
The tantric path is best taken by those with a lust for adventure, and a familiarity with the rugged terrain of the inner worlds. Because tantra uses the very emotions and sensations that can trap us in addiction and illusion, it is a dangerous and intense path to follow. It is by fully facing and tasting these pleasures and desires that they can be seen for what they are, doorways to higher consciousness, and can be dissolved into the one true experience . . . ecstasy in reality.
This journey begins with Neo-tantra, the bio-energetic and humanistic-psychology techniques of freeing the mind and body from the deadness of living in a world of stress and sexual repression. Tantra seeks not to look for a problem, or diagnose a dysfunction, but to break out of the habits and ways of coping that have made us dead. To give our spirits more space in which to breath, live and express fully. Neo-tantra is not traditional tantra; it is designed to be a preparation for the traditional practices. Neo-tantra provides a way for us to become more aware of our bodies and the ways we stop ourselves from being fully who we are.

Traditional tantra, the ancient mystical teachings of India and Tibet, contain many forms of ecstatic meditation. These meditations are intended to provide us with the direct experience of spiritual bliss through the human body. Ancient tantra is seen as one of the most powerful spiritual paths because of its non-dual view of desire and the body. When nothing is forbidden, the ego cannot but quickly surrender to bliss.
We are sexual beings. The nature of our lives can be seen very clearly in our sexual persona. Who we are sexually is who we are in the rest of our lives. There is so much emphasis on sex in the world, yet how many of us have really experienced sexual fulfillment? How often do we feel trapped by pressures and expectations around our sexuality? And yet there is so much desire to met sexually, to be seen, to be known. Tantra begins with meditation, moves into desire and then dives into the rich, potent realm of sexuality, to drawn on this powerful energy, this microcosm of our lives, the most powerful place for us to meet ourselves.
Chandra Bindu Tantra Institute provides a comprehensive program for the exploration of tantra, the body, sexuality and meditation. Our programs are not therapies, rather they are experiential, designed to provide a direct experience of tantra by the individual. We have many levels ranging from Neo-tantra to the most advanced traditional practice and we invite you to begin by exploring our introductory program, "Be Fully Alive", a preparation course for anyone curious about the path of enlightenment called tantra.
Congratulations on your courageous commitment to knowing yourself through your body. Namaste. |
