Cris is 37, and lost her young family in the IA Wars and went insane with
grief. She spent a long time in a psychiatric unit and when finally released
as sane found that she could look at life in a different way to others. This
is why she thinks she was posted to a unit of raving nutters.

But the breakdown also means that she can cope with working with a robot
without many problems and thinks that the Chig didn't defect at all. More
likely he got sent to the humans because they (The other Chigs) thought his
singing and jokes would drive the humans insane and force them to kill each
other to escape the verbal attacks.

Cris hates people who play guitars and likes messing with computer programs
to try and find out how they work, but not so as to destroy or upset the
initial program.

Nor can Cris get over the fact the Lia is old enough to be her eldest
daughter.
