Everybody's a Critic Awards - Previous Winners

Here are the previous winners of the Everybody's a Critic Award arranged by month:

March 1998:

If trivia is of interest to you this site, The Useless Information Home Page, will keep you fascinated for many hours. Consider the story of the first subway line built in New York City, or read about actress Hedy Lamarr's other life - she patented a device whose concept would prove to be very useful to missle guidance and modern telecommunications. There are over sixty stories here, trivia but, not trivial.

pi The Friends of Pi is a site which will entertain you with moreinformation about the value of pi than you ever, ever wanted to know. This is signifcant as March 14 is Pi Day. (and you just knew we needed another holiday!) The festivities commence at 1:59, promptly... 3.14159, the first six digits of the value. WINK, WINK. Whether you love, hate or don't much care about mathematics there is some fun to be had here. I especially enjoyed the And Now for Something Completely Different page. There are also some interesting links to pages which debate the usefulness of such things as pi. I had fun, you can, too.

February 1998:

Pete Garriga's Beyond....The Black Stump. A highly organized compilation of over 10,000 links in 66 major catagories. This Australian based site covers the gamut from Australian Rules Football to software to...you name it, its probably here, except anthing adult oriented. The owner and operator of this site has been compiling this listing for several years now and goes to considerable effort to keep the links up to date. No dead puppies here. He is constantly adding new links as well. This site is considerably larger now than when I first stumbled across it a couple of years ago. I regret this bookmark got buried in an earlier bookmark file I don't revisit often. It now has been moved toa an easily accessable location.

Kevin Kelm's "57% shinier" Home Page: Kevin bills himself as "The Dark Prince of HTML". He is most decidedly a man of many talents. Join Kevin in his various adventures and larks including spelunking in an abandoned missle silo, a tour if the IRS, Storytime - featuring a Curious Geage adventure and Horton the Elephant. There is much, much more; too much to list here. For the truly adventuresome try exploring the site via the JavaScript enhanced maze. Netscape Navigator is recommended by Kevin to fully enjoy this web site, and with Netscape's recent 100% price reduction you have no reason not to use the best.

Star Wreak: A bawdy parody of the original Star Trek TV series created by Charles Seggelin who asks that you not be offended by it. Charles is also a professeed Trekkie. It does take love to create a truly good parody.
