Tired of the same ole can of whup ass?

Then try a can of Wu-Tang! The game is Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. It's based on the infamous Thrill Kill engine(a game that was so gorey supposedly they canned it), and features up to 4 players kicking the shit outta each other all at once! It looks really good and has a kickin' rap soundtrack running in the background as you're Wu-Tangin' everyone. For more info on this winner go here.

It's about time...

Well, it's been about over two weeks since we had our site and now I can finally do something with my days! The big news for me these days is Half-Life. The game itself is a helluva lot better than Quake will ever be. It has some fantastic mods for it too! One of the best ones is Action Half-Life. It makes deathmatching in Half-Life more realistic, in a John Woo style. In other words, you're not going to live after getting hit with a rocket launcher 2 or 3 times. You take a bullet in the head, you're dead. You get hit in the leg, you limp around. If you get a serious wound that keeps bleeding, you'll slowly lose life unless you bandage it up, which is another new feature in this mod. You can grab sniper rifles, a sawed off shotgun(affectionately called a hand-cannon), a regular 12 gauge shotgun, throwing knives, a big ole magnum, a sub machine gun and a berretta which if you obtain a second beretta, you can use both at the same time. Two gun mojo! In addition to those weapons there are items you can get as well, like a laser scope, a kevlar vest, a bandolier, silent slippers so your foot steps don't make any noise, a flashlight and a silencer. And like real life, you can't have all of those. At most you can have the two berettas, knives, the magnum and one unique weapon, and one unique item.... which is the other stuff I mentioned before. Other mods that are really good are Counter Strike(multiplayer only), USS Darkstar(single player only), and Two Smoking Barrels(single player only). For more info on all of these visit this site.

More PS2 Details

This was taken from PSX.IGN:

Thanks to the Japanese magazine Hyper PlayStation EX, we were able to
get a hold of a few new tidbits of information on the PlayStation 2. Not all
of the information is new, but some niggling little questions were answered.
Take a gander. If you have other questions about PS2, check our
extensive FAQ, linked at the bottom of the page.

HPSX: Exactly how will the logo appear on the PlayStation2 software?

SCEI: The current PlayStation logo appears on the black PS discs, but a
different logo design is being prepared for PlayStation2 software [CDs and
                  DVDs].

HPSX: When someone inserts a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, will the PS2
automatically play it, or will there be a menu screen?

SCEI: When you turn on the unit or press reset, the machine will
automatically detect what type of disc has been inserted.

HPSX: The PlayStation2 has a 24X speed CD-ROM. How will that
affect the first read speed for the PS discs?

SCEI: When running PS discs, the CD drive will read at 2X speed. The
initial read speed will be the same as that of the current PlayStation unit.

HPSX: Will the read speed of Memory Card data be any faster than it is
                  now?

SCEI: The read speed for the current Memory Card will not change. For
the 8MB Memory Card, the read speed is approximately 250 times faster
                  than the current Memory Card.

HPSX: There is an on/off switch at the back of the PS2. Is there another
                  method for turning it off?

SCEI: If you press and hold the reset button, the PlayStation2 will turn
                  off.

HPSX: The PlayStation2 does not have a link cable port. Does this mean
it will not be compatible with the link cable?

SCEI: The PlayStation2 will not be compatible with the link cable.

HPSX: Can PlayStation games switch from PS1 to PS2 modes?

SCEI: No, there are no switch modes from PS1 to PS2.

HPSX: Can we use the new Memory Card for current PlayStation games
                  as well?

SCEI: No, the PlayStation2 Memory Card can only be used for
PlayStation2 games. The only exception is the PocketStation.

HPSX: Will there be a new PocketStation with more memory?

SCEI: For now, we intend to keep the same memory.

HPEX: Will the new Memory Card still use "blocks" as the current one
                  does?

SCEI: No, the PlayStation2 Memory Card will use units in "bytes"
                  instead.

The Fear of getting Smacked Down

There's another great WWF game in the works for the Playstation. It's from THQ and will be called Smack Down! So far there's over 30 WWF superstars, along with a create-your-own-player mode. Other modes include Royal Rumble, Cage Matches, Exhibition and 3-way matches. The motion capture is said to be the best yet, and the engine used for the game is taken from a Japanese wrestling game, and is really impressive. The big thing about Smack Down is the story mode that'll be in it. They say you can leave the ring and explore the backstage area, talking to other wrestlers or getting jumped by them. It sounds really cool.

I posted a bit about a game called Fear Effect awhile back, made by  some guys called Kronos. Some more info has been revealed about the game which is pretty interesting. In this game instead of a life meter you have a fear meter. The fear meter goes from an utter lack of confidence/total fear to total confidence/ no fear. In no fear you'll be able to see alot better and shoot better. In total fear players can get shot and killed with one bullet. Another great thing about this game is the lack of load times! There will still be one load time at the beginning, but after that as you're searching the level... no load times. The game is gonna be 4 discs big(is this a trend all the sudden?) It should be out in early 2000.

Summoner

Gamespot has a short preview of a really cool looking 3D RPG called Summoner. In it you're a guy name Joseph who has the power to summon demons, and has the military after him to use his powers for themselves. He goes on a journey with 5 other friends helping him, to discover answers regarding his powers. The screen shots look pretty good, so if  you wanna check them out go here.
