PROGRAM INFORMATION

Maths Action has been written in STOS
and then compiled. A fully upgraded
version of STOS was used, so it is
compatible with all versions of ST's
and STE's.

RUNNING

Place the disk in drive A and turn on
the ST. When the desktop appears
double click on either the
MATHSADD.PRG or the MATHSX.PRG icon.
The program will then load and run.

INTRODUCTION

Maths Action is an educational game
aimed at junior and senior primary
school children. MATHSADD.PRG tests
addition and subtraction. MATHSX.PRG
test multiplication and division.
There are six levels of play in each
program, and the maximum level played
may be set by the user. Ten questions
are asked, and if all are answered
correctly he is given the opportunity
to play a short shoot 'em up game as a
reward. The next level, or the highest
level set, is then played. If any
answers are incorrect then that level
is replayed.

INSTRUCTIONS

One loaded, Maths Action will ask what
the maximum level of play is to be.
Press 1-6 to select. If no selection
is made in about 15 seconds then a
default maximum level of six is set.
This screen may be selected at any
time by selecting 'END' on the main
screen.
The introduction screen will then
appear. A series of ten questions will
then be asked - both written and asked
using digitised speech. A question is
answered by selecting numerals from
the centre of the screen. When the
answer is formed select 'OK'. You will
then be told if your answer is correct
or not. The next question is then
given. You may select 'END' at any
time to restart the program.
If any answers are wrong the level is
played again. If all are correct then
the you can play MATHS ATTACK - a
short shoot 'em up game. Use the mouse
to move across the base of the screen.
The numbers 0-9 are attacking you from
above. The computer will select a
number for you to shoot - it will tell
you and show you this target number.
Press either mouse button to shoot,
but be careful, if you shoot any other
number besides this target number then
the game is over and you will return
to Maths Action. The next level is
then played - or the highest level set
at the beginning of the game.

UNDERSOFT

We are a group of programmers that
see a great gap in the ST software
market for children's software - both
educational and games. We produce this
software as shareware and encourage
you to copy it and give copies away to
friends and enemies. We do ask that
all files remain unaltered on the disk
if you choose to share it around. If
you use and enjoy the program then
please send an amount of money,
suggest $15-20, to the address below
to become a registered user. (Does
this mean I'll soon be rich? Ha Ha!)
