Day Date Task / Assignment
Monday 14/9/98
  • Search for new RoboCup papers for two hours. Acquired two new papers from the author Peter Stone and H. Kitano. Download its postscript and zip it up; update the RoboCup papers index webpage. Validate the other papers in the RoboCup related websites and ignore the duplicate papers.
  • Read a Visual Basic textbook known as '1001 Programmers VB tips' on solving errors and tips on how to enhance the program by adding useful pop-out input boxes so that the interface will not be clogged. Work on the Visual Basic program, try to use the new functions that I have learnt.
  • Search for team information on the Internet. Come across team information that belongs to a Japanese team, thus cannot understand the information. E-mail the author asking for the information on his team.

  • Demonstrate my new Visual Basic program (Web Val 2.0) to Tralvex. Change the Inet settings from default to proxy in order to fetched the webpages by the program. Set proxy settings to gobble.iti.gov.sg:8008.
  • Since this program uses a network proxy, Tralvex suggested that we should create an external proxy.txt file for functional flexibility for outside user.
  • Discuss about the searching of new RoboCup papers. Try to find more new papers, Tralvex suggested that we should go into the websites of the individual team members themselves and check out the new released papers.
  • Tralvex also suggested a new function for the Visual Basic program, a function that will remove the *BAD* graphical logo on the invalid Url on the bad Url log, when the bad link has been repaired and now is valid.
Tuesday 15/9/98
  • Work on Web Val 2.0, arrange its programming codes, aiming to try out the difference execution in its functions. Read the Visual Basic textbooks known as '1001 Programmers VB tips' on the chapter on strings manipulation techniques. Concentrated on the $mid string functions. try it out on my web Val 2.0 program.
  • Spent three hours searching for information on the teams participate in RoboCup '98. Most of the websites acquired are those websites that I already have its information.
  • Spent three hours searching and validating new RoboCup papers in author sites. Website went to are mostly website belonging to the U.S.A team, e.g. the team members' website from the team CMUnited.
Wednesday 16/9/98
  • Searching for information on the issues surrounding autonomous agents. Acquired some information in a webpage known as 'Autonomous Robotic Agents' on the Internet. Read some other related information on other webpages and try to determine the crux of the issues pertaining to autonomous agents, e.g. what are the similar factors surrounding most autonomous agents.
  • Work on the Visual Basic program and try to enhance its features by adding some pop-out input boxes, concentrate on the 'Enter Url' box. Face some errors when adding the function. Conclusion is to eliminate the idea and concentrate on other areas, like the appending of numbers to the error list.
Thursday 17/9/98
  • Append numbers to the error list in my Visual Basic program (Web Val 2.0). Manage to put numbers infront of the bad Url, which has been validated. Numbers appearing infront of the bad Url are the overall numbers from the entire number of Url in the fetched webpage. Each Url in the fetched webpage is given a unique numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3, etc. from the top of the page to the end of the page sequentially).
  • Spent two hours searching for new information on the teams participate in RoboCup '98. Most of the websites acquired during the searched carries the information that I already have and displayed.
  • Search for information on the issues surrounding autonomous agents on the Internet. Update the information on the issues surrounding autonomous agent in my word document. Analyse the information and acquire and record down those relevant information.
Friday 18/9/98
  • Work on the Visual Basic program, try to create an external file (proxy.txt) to insert the proxy information. Insert codes to the external proxy file, the code 1 means that there is a use of proxy which is gobble.iti.gov.sg with proxy port 8008. And the code 0 means that there is no proxy.
  • Manage the report documentation by organising the information in it. Highlight the important points and clarify the information about the organisation by sending emails to the staffs in KRDL.
  • Meet up with the staff and discuss with them about the information that I required.
  • Search for some information on issues surrounding autonomous agents on the Internet. Acquired a lot of false drop.
Saturday 19/9/98 Company off
  • Touch up on the report documentation. Insert new information in the 'Working in the company' portion of the report.
Sunday 20/9/98 Company off

checker.gif (920 bytes) Weekly Summary of Task / Assignment

The eleventh week of the attachment deals mainly with working on the visual basic program that I created. A considerable amount of enhancements are done to the program. I also continue with the searching of new RoboCup papers and the new team information of the participants of RoboCup ’98. Basically this week was spent mainly in working on my visual basic program known as Web Val 2.0. Below are some additional elaboration to the tasks I have done for this entire week.

I am quite pleased with the things I did on my visual basic program, as every achievement I made, makes me feel better and the drive to excel on escalates. I hope to make the program a useful tool and I will work on hard for it to be successful.
