Monday	5/10/98	Search for issues surrounding autonomous agents on the Internet, specifically for text-mining. Acquired a website known as 'Semio' that elaborates about the tools used in text-mining. Compile the information acquired on the Internet on the issues surrounding text-mining agents onto a word document. Analyse the information and elaborate further by relating the piece of information to the other information found on text mining in the Internet. Look through the visual basic program and try to solve some of the errors. Decided to follow the old format of appending the date and time of validation on each of the hyperlinks if the error cannot be solved.
Tuesday	6/10/98	Organise the information on the issues on autonomous agents in the word document. Standardise its format and rectify some of the errors in it. For example, I removed some of the irrelevant information about text mining in the acquired information, as its scope does not pertains to the topic I am doing, ABBA. Try to solve the error of the visual basic program. Create an IPE on listing down of error and appending only one time and date of validation on top of the list. Manage to do it, but when incorporate it into Web Val 2.0, the function did not work due to some unidentifyable errors. Search for new RoboCup papers on the Internet. Found some papers that already exist in my local robobib directory. Ignore those papers.
Wednesday	7/10/98	Finalised the information and the format of the issues surrounding autonomous agents. Acquire some last information in a website known as 'Text Data Mining by Marti A. Hearst'. Elaborate on some of the information found there, especially in the process of summarization. Create a content and cover page of the report on the issues surrounding autonomous agents. Work on the errors on the Web Val 2.0 program. Area of focus is in the appending of time and date onto the error list. Spent four hours on the process of debugging.
Thursday	8/10/98	Add some last minute information in my report documentation on then issues on autonomous agents. Edit the contents of some sections of the report. Add some graphics of autonomous agents in the report. Adjust the content page to reflect the current changes. Search for new RoboCup papers on the Internet. Spent three hours on the assignments. Did not find any new papers, as most of the papers are duplicate papers. Work on the visual basic program. try to finalised the program and decided to change it to an .exe file. Try to remove some of the errors in appending a *BAD* logo onto the bad links. Cannot manage to append the bad logo onto the bad links.
Friday	9/10/98	Finalised the functions of the visual basic program known as Web Val 2.0. Decided to ignore the function of appending the *BAD* logo onto those validated links that are bad or invalid. Finalised the function of listing all the bad hyperlinks onto the error log on the program itself. The error list will be inclusive of the time and date of validation on top of the bad links that have been validated. The URL is also included in the error log, specifically below the date and time of validation. Change the visual basic program into a final .exe file after performing some minor debugging.. Try it out, and try to fix minor errors (e.g. request time-out). Work on the report on the issues affecting autonomous agents. Printout the report and bind them, upon finalisation.

Weekly Summary of Task / Assignment

The second last week of the attachment (week fourteen) basically deals with the completion of the project report on the issues surrounding autonomous agents (text-mining) and the visual basic program known as Web Val 2.0.

Report documentation on the issues surrounding autonomous agents (text-mining).
Basically what I did most for this week is searching for information on the Internet and also in the library for the issues surrounding autonomous agents, specifically for text-mining. Upon acquiring the information, I analyse it and compile it onto a word document. I also analyse the information and elaborate further by relating the piece of information to the other information found on text mining on the Internet. So far I have around thirty-three pages of information on the issues surrounding autonomous agents. I finalised all the information on Friday and print out the report on Saturday. Basically that assignment is completed. In my own opinion, I think I can continue on exploring other Internet sites or read more books on the issues as the topic interest me. After this attachment, I will still go on and acquired some of the information on the project I am doing in KRDL. I will treat doing the acquisition on the information as leisure or past time.

I tried to solve the error of the visual basic program many times, and sometimes I just felt ease and happy to accomplish the process of debugging the errors. But in all, as an attachment student who knows visual basic for only fifteen weeks, there is little I can do to solve big problems in the debugging process. On the whole I am very satisfied with the product I am doing, not to mention the short amount of time given for the completion of the program and with very little knowledge on programming. I did every thing on my own, I subscribed to mailing list, discuss with my colleague and many more, just to learn programming visual basic in a short amount of time. I did not bother my supervisor so much as I know that he is very busy with his work, so no spoon feeding for me during this attachment. I would recommend that there should be an awareness of the students’ capabilities and skills before they are given assignments or tasks to carry out. Who knows, some of the tasks given are too heavy to be carried alone by them, so they really need some advice and help from the knowledgeable ones. In conclusion I manage to do quite a reasonable program using visual basic 5.0.
