Welcome to ...

catcat's Trek Episode 0 (Transporter [Series And Season Premiere])

Transporters are considered to be one of the most important inventions in Star Trek history, why? ...

< Scene >: The Enterprise travelling in the universe in warp speed.
Picard: (voice) Captain's log, stardate 10000.00. The Enterprise is performing a routine but very dangerous mission. We are required to transport a huge load of special substances to a class D planet: The Dumpperon IV.

< Scene >: Enterprise Main Bridge.
Picard:   Mr. Data, how long to get to Dumpperon IV?
Data:   In current speed, approximately 12 minutes and 37.4533 seconds Sir.
Worf:   It's in visual range Sir.
Picard:   On screen.
(A small planet with multiple colours shown on the main view screen)
Riker:   (take a look at Picard) That's it Sir. Right on schedule.
Picard:   Yes, in deed. Number One.

< Scene >: Transporter room 4.
Geordi:   Chief, this is a routine mission but very important, I don't want anything weird happen.
O'Brien:   (checking the transporter console and smiling) Of course, I understand Sir.
Geordi:   (hit on comm-batch) La Forge to Captain, everything is ready Sir.
Picard:   (voice) Very good Mr. La Forge.

< Scene >: Main Bridge.
Data:   We are arriving Dumpperon IV Sir.
Picard:   Slow to impulse.
(A bigger Dumpperon IV shown)
(Picard and Riker share a look)
Riker:   Standard orbit.
Wesley:   Standard orbit Sir.
Riker:   Bridge to Transporter room 4, we've reached Dumpperon IV.
O'Brien:   (voice) Transporter ready Sir. But I need the transport coordinates Sir.
Picard:   Data?
Data:   I am scanning the planet for the precise transport coordinates Sir.
Picard:   Just how long will it take Mr. Data?
Data:   (look back) Approximately 7 minutes and 33.1201 seconds Sir.
Picard:   You have 2 minutes.
Data:   (look curious and raise eye bows) Understood Sir.
(Data working on the management console for a while)
Data:   I am transfering the coordinates to Transporter room 4 now.
Riker:   Chief, do you have it?
O'Brien:   (voice) Aye Sir.
Riker:   Lock on to the substances and beam them on to the planet.
O'Brien:   (voice) Aye Sir.

< Scene >: Transporter room 4.
(O' Brien engaging the transporter, Geordi watching besides)
O'Brien:   (act curious) Transporter room 4 to Bridge, it seems to has some malfunctions on the transporter Sir. I can't beam the substances to the planet!
Riker:   (yelling) What the hell is going on there?
Geordi:   We are not so sure Sir. I'm trying to figure it out!
Riker:   Then make it quick, we don't have much time Geordi!
Geordi:   I turly understand Sir!

< Scene >: Main Bridge.
Riker:   What shall we do now Captain?
Picard:   Data?
Data:   (go to a science station) We seem to have too much of the substances locked on and over loaded a series of power relays of the transporters.
Riker:   Geordi?

< Scene >: Transporter room 4.
Geordi:   Confirm Sir! We're replacing the relays now. We just need some more time!
Riker:   (voice) Time is something we don't have!

< Scene >: Main Bridge.
(Riker looks frustrate and sit down)
Picard:   Do you feel anything Counsellor?
Troi:   (looks painful and seems going to cry) I ... feel ...
Picard:   (and Riker look concern) What!? Counsellor, how do you feel?
Riker:   Are you alright Deanna?
Troi:   I feel ... pain! (then starts sobbing)
Worf:   (slam on the tactical console) Rrrrrrr.............
Riker:   (look back to Worf) Restrain yourself Lieutenant!
Worf:   (look at Riker, angry then calm) Yes Sir!
(Wesley working on the console)
Wesley:   Captain! I think I've found the solution!
(Drawing attentions, everyone looking at Wesley)
Picard:   (stands up and walk to Wesley) Mr. Crusher. First of all, it is a helm console you're working on. There's no related function with the transporters. Secondly, how many times did I told you never try to solve our hi-tech. serious problems by just randomly pressing buttons on the console?
Wesley:   (looks sorry) I'm sorry Sir.
Geordi:   (voice) La Forge to the Bridge, we are ready Sir!
Picard:   Well done Mr. La Forge!
Riker:   Chief?
O'Brien:   (voice) I'm ready Sir! But I'll suggest we beam the substances down to the planet in a load by load basis.
Picard:   Make it so!
Worf:   Life-support's failing and 58 decks reported for medical emergency Sir!
(Picard and Riker share a look, and sweating)
Riker:   Chief, work faster! (yelling) We can't wait any more!
Picard:   (taking short and weak breaths) Mr. Data, will this situation affect you?
Data:   I am an android Sir. I have no feeling or emotion of any kind Sir.
Picard:   Very well Data. If we can't maintain conscious, you're taking command of this vessel.
Data:   Aye Sir.
(Troi collapsed and falls on to the floor)
Picard:   (thinking) How the hell can she fell on the floor while she's sitting on that chair comfortably?
Riker:   (yelling) Chief!
O'Brien:   (voice) I'm working on it Sir! It's nearly finished!
Riker:   (with both hands clampping his head and yelling) WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON THERE!?

< Scene >: Transporter room 4.
Geordi:   (working on the transporter console) I got it Sir! I got it.
(Transporter engaging. Geordi and Miles share a look and a smile)

< Scene >: Main Bridge.
(Everyone looks relieved and refreshed)
Picard:   (stands up and straighten his uniform) Well done Mr. La Forge.
Geordi:   (voice) Thank you Sir. It's Brien and me.
Picard:   Thank you Mr. Brien.
O'Brien:   (voice) My pleasure Captain.
Worf:   Sir! I've detected that the substances we've beamed are not on the planet but in space!
Picard:   Data?
Data:   Confirmed Sir.
Riker:   Why the hell is that!?
Picard:   Is it the transporter's malfunction?
Riker:   What're the coordinates Data?
Data:   That is the exact coordinates I transfered to the transporter Sir.
Riker:   In outer space!? Are you out of you android mind!?
Picard:   I need a good explanation Commander.
Data:   Y-2-K Sir.
Riker:   This is the 24th century Data! We've quited using this as an excuse for over 300 years!
Data:   That is correct Sir. But not me, when the Captain recording his log at the beginning of this mission, he said it is stardate 10000.00 and that is the 21st century. That stardate has reset my system clock and logically, I was living in the 20th century and switching to the 21st century. Apparently, I am not Y2K compliant and make a wrong calculation on the transport coordinates Sir.
Riker:   For crying out loud!
Picard:   Reset that damn clock of yours back to the correct stardate and start acting normally!
(Data trying to speak but interrupted by Worf)
Worf:   Captain! The substances in outer space are drifting toward our ship's hull! Suggest to leave now Sir!
Riker:   (whispering to Picard) If the substances contact our ship's body physically, it'll create serious problems when we dock. Not to mention violating the Prime Directive.
Picard:   Agree. (turn to Wesley) Helm, prepare to leave Dumpperon IV.
Wesley:   To where Sir?
Picard:   Just randomly select ... Well set course to StarBase 91.
Wesley:   Course set Sir.
Picard:   Take us out of here! Warp 9, engage!

< Scene >: The Enterprise go into warp.

See how important the transport is? Without it the voyagers are travelling in Hell. Why? 'cuz there's no washroom! For all those years watching ST, I never see a single toilet seat (the closest thing I've seen is Deanna's bath tub). That's why the transporter is so important. Don't believe me? Just read the script again.
