Listed above are a couple songs I wrote (close again;practice song) and one I did not write (more precious than silver by Lynn DeShazo). Your first reaction to these might be don't quit your day job. Well, too late I already quit but not to play music :^) I enjoy writing music and hope one day to have a few good songs under my belt. I want to play my own material at my church one day. I know I have a long way to go. I will enjoy the ride!!
More Precious Than Silver by Lynn DeShazo
I love this song and
wanted to do a classical guitar version of it. Doing the arrangement really
helped me start out playing classical guitar style. Sorry I did not add the
lyrics. The story behind this song was very interesting. How Lynn DeShazo
wrote More Precious Than Silver I did play this one as a special at church.
It was my first special, boy was I scared. I don't think anyone heard the
lyrics, the feedback from the listeners said I had the guitar too loud. (Wait
til they hear some of my heavy metal songs. hahaha too loud hahaha) The real
reason they did not hear the lyrics was becase I can't sing and can't sing
loudly. I am working on that ;o) I chickened out at the end and did not play the
strummed ending like it is on the mp3. I wish I had, but I felt like no one
would like it. Next time, I play it just like I want to.
Brother In My Arms (Close Again)
This is the first song I ever
completly finished. I say that joking because the song has no bridge or solo. I
wrote it when I had some strong feelings. Wow! no one may ever understand the
song. But I understand it and know how quickly things come together when you
feel strongly about a subject.
Practice Song
This was written by just turning on the recorder
and playing. It sounds like it :op The guitar solo is horrible. I am
working on my ability to play chords then go to a solo without losing the song.
It will take alot of practice!! One interesting thing is that this song was
written with no name. Later, I used part of it on another song. It really is
neat how everything comes together in the end.
I always listened to my favorite music artists when they talked about writing music. I may never be famous, but I will always enjoy writing songs. The feeling you get when you play your own mp3 is very exciting. You hear all your mistakes but the joy of hearing youself get better is well worth the time and effort.
