Modems
If you are having problems with your modem, the best thing to do is
read the troubleshooting guide from your modem manufacter. You can
also visit their website.
Here are some common easy fixes for your modem.
-
Make sure your phone line is plugged into the back of the modem, and plugged
in in the correct slot.
-
Make sure you have the correct drivers for your modem.
-
If it's a Winmodem, make sure you are able to use it in DOS if you are
using a DOS application.
-
If you have slow connect speeds it can be several different factors.
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be slow, or the net may be busy
at the time you are trying to connect. Try right clicking on "My
Computer" and choosing "Properties," Select the "Device Manager" tab and
find modems on the list. Click on your modem and select "Properties".
Under the modem tab under properties make sure that under maximum speed
115200 is showing.
