Disclaimer: You know, Ive been writing these things for a few years now(in different fandoms), and frankly Im starting to get fed up with it. Everybody knows Im not making money from this, or that I dont own Dragonball. Hell, if I did, I wouldnt WRITING about Trunks and Pan! Theyd have their own show!
One of Those Days
By Carbo
Some of you have been asking for a sequel to the "Bedtime Story Saga" (so to speak), and here it is. It took me a little while to figure out a story that would fit nicely into the "series" without repeating too much of the old stuff.
Again Ive skipped quite a few years so you wont be seeing Trunks and Pan going on their first date, and stuff like that (Sorry! although I might just make a story about that too). Instead youre going to see aspects of their wonderful married life.
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Screaming children, agitated parents and sexual implications.
"Batmans better!" The six year-old boy with dark, short hair argued stubbornly, his normally calm eyes raising into a defiant aquamarine storm.
"No CATWOMAN is!" His lavender topped sister argued back.
"Shut up Ame!" Yuki snapped.
"You shut up!" The lavender topped five-year-old growled and gave her slightly older brother a push, starting an extremely noisy restling match (the second one along the ride) in the backseat of the hubbercar.
"Stop it ! Now!" Trunks growled menacingly over his shoulder, his patience finally running out. Hed had a worse enough day at work and frankly didnt have it in him to take his childrens mindless squabbling. He sighed in relief when they stopped their fight and settled for just glaring and making faces at each other.
Trunks mood soon took another nose dive as he remembered the fight hed gotten into with Pan last night. Hed gotten stuck in the office and missed their long planned anniversary dinner, which Pan hadnt taken too well. And that meant he was probably going to be stuck in the dog house for a while, depending on how her day had been. And all he really wanted to do right now was to tell her he was sorry, make up and crawl into bed with her and sleep through the next few days.
But all he would probably receive tonight was the cold shoulder and a night on the couch.
Trunks cursed quietly under his breath and sighed. This was just one of those days.
In a few moments he pulled the car into the driveway, then reluctantly he got out and ushered the kids into the house.
To his mild surprise and relief his mate wasnt home yet, she had probably popped to her grandmothers or something, or in the worse case scenario had to work late.
Where ever she was, hed worry about it later, and after making sure the kids had had something to eat and something to do, he hit the couch and took a long and refreshing nap, something hed craved for the whole day.
After a few hours he woke up into terrible noise that was undoubtedly coming form upstairs form the kids room. Trunks frowned. They didnt usually fight this much, probably had a bad day at school too. Growling with annoyance, Trunks rolled off the couch and made his way upstairs to see what the matter the was.
He found his kids fighting over a toy Ame accused Yuki of braking, and frankly the fight was starting to get a little out of hand as it was turning form a harmless restle into a full blown fight, and Trunks had to watch out not to get his teeth knocked out.
Sometimes he regretted the decision of having the kids trained.
Breaking up the fight, Trunks scolded both children.
"But he broke my dolly!" Ame protested with a scowl and gazed at her father with tears glittering in her eyes, her small arms crossed across her chest in a stubborn gesture. Momentarily the gesture made Trunks smile internally. The girl reminded him so much of her mother sometimes, both in looks and in spirit.
"Did you?" Trunks asked his son firmly, while gazing at him intensely in a no nonsense way. Yuki glanced at his sister blue eyes flashing, but at his fathers glare he gave up and turned to stare at his feet. "It was an accident." He mumbled apologetically.
Trunks sighed his gaze softening. " Its ok, accidents happen." Ame was just about to protest but her father cut her off "And we can go buy you a new doll tomorrow. Now hug each other and apologize."
The kids looked at each other sourly, not really that fond of the idea right now.
"Well?" Trunks asked, crossing his arms impatiently across his chest.
The children sighed, and reluctantly they moved to hug each other. But once they did, their anger quickly melted away. The two always had differences, but the bond between the two siblings had always been strong.
"Im sorry Ame, I didnt mean to brake your doll." Yuki told her regretfully.
"Its ok Yuki. Im sorry I got mad at you." Ame answered, and hugged her brother tightly. Soon they were playing happily on the floor, Yuki lending Ame some of his toys for comfort, while Trunks watched them with a smile. He hoped his mate would forgive him just as easy.
It was then that Trunks realized to look at the watch, and much to his surprise it was already bedtime. Had he really slept that long? And where was Pan? she was usually home before he was, and frankly it was starting bother him. But right now he had to concentrate on getting the kids to sleep.
"Ok, time to go to bed!" Trunks announced and ignoring all protests he scooped up the two giggling rascals and after getting them into their pyjamas, he tucked them into their joint bed.
"Read us a story daddy!" Ame requested excitedly. "Yeah dad!" Yuki joined in.
Trunks smiled knowingly at the two. It was never easy to say no to them. "Ok, but just one."
"Yey!" They both squealed, and waved their small arms in the air.
"Ok then, what story would you like to hear?" Trunks asked.
"You pick daddy." Ame encouraged. "Something with Princesses."
"And something with dragons and swords and stuff." Yuki added, his blue eyes shining.
"Ok, lets see " Trunks said thoughtfully as he walked over to the small bookcase and looked over the selection. To his dismay none of those he hadnt already read this week filled those criteria. Then a certain book in the farthest corner of the case caught his eye. Frowning Trunks pulled out the old book and instantly a wave of nostalgia washed over him
The book was slightly worn out from the corners but through the layer of dust on its surface shone "Sleeping Beauty" in silver lettering. He could almost see the dark-brown eyes of a five-year-old girl gazing up at him with a smile.
With a warm smile he gently wiped away the dust, eased himself on the bed with the kids and started his story, this time two pairs of smiling eyes gazing up at him instead of one.

Meanwhile an exhausted Pan pulled her car into the driveway and shut off the engine. Yawning widely she dragged the shopping bags out of the backseat and walked through the dark driveway towards the warmly lit house, a warm shower and soft bed calling to her. After the long day shed had, that was all she wanted right now.
Work hadnt been too pleasant today, every little thing she did seemed to go south, and her boss hadnt hidden his disapproval. And after that shed gone to the mall to get some groceries and a few other things, but of course shed forgotten about the sales and much to her annoyance the place had been completely crowded. Kami how she hated standing in line, especially in high heels.
By the time shed gotten out of the place, her feet were so sore she could hardly walk.
And now she was finally home, she thought with a sigh she took off her coat and shoes, and padded into the kitchen with her bags, feeling slight relief. But the feeling faded when the fight from last night reminded of itself.
Her anger had faded somewhat form last evening, after all it wasnt really his fault hed got stuck in the office.(although he couldve tried a little harder with his apologies). But still, she had had every right to be angry and there was no way she was letting him off the hook yet.
Decision made Pan placed the groceries into the fridge she took the rest of her bags (which were filled with clothes) and sternly padded upstairs and headed for the bedroom.
But when she heard the soft, low voice of her mate flowing form the room childrens room, Pan couldnt help her curiosity and just had to peek in through the small crack in the door.
She felt her heart slowly but surely melt into a puddle when she saw them there, all three far in fantasy land, cuddled together on the small bed, both children listening quietly to their father while he read to them a story Pan hadnt heard in a long while, but one she knew by heart.
Pan felt a strong wave of affection and love pass through her heart, and an urge to go smother them all with hugs and kisses. All her anger or what was left of it had vanished completely from her mind and a warm smile had spread to her lips. She never could stay mad at him for long, well not too long anyway. No matter how aggravating he sometimes got.
Not wanting to brake the magic of the moment, Pan didnt announce her presence but instead leaned against the doorframe and quietly listened to the storytelling of her husband with a smile. There werent many things she liked listening to as much as his voice, or this story.
"And so, the Prince and Princess lived happily ever after and had two wonderful children." Trunks finished with a knowing smile, but chuckled softly as he noticed the two angels fast asleep with dreamy expressions on their faces. I wonder if all parents think theyre kids are the most beautiful creatures in the world, he thought with a smile.
Giving both children a kiss goodnight, he gazed at them lovingly for a moment and turned off the light.
He shouldve felt the faint vibration of his wifes hidden aura behind the door, but he was too deep in thought to notice.
Thats why he almost had a heart attack when he opened the door and found her standing there, with her arms crossed and a frown on her face.
"Pan " He gasped, " hi!" and then smiled at her sheepishly. "Listen, Im really sorry about yesterday, things have just been so hectic at the office lately, I promise Ill take you out to the most expensive restaurant in town "
The words died on his lips as he noticed the strange look on her face. Was that a smile sneaking on to her lips? Trunks frowned.
First the smile was more of a restrained smirk of amusement, but turned into a soft more endearing smile, as she stepped closer to him tentatively.
"Im not mad at you anymore silly. I know it wasnt your fault." She whispered softly, making a look of disbelief appear or his face.
For a while he stared at her dumbly.
"Does this mean I dont have to sleep on the couch?" He asked warily.
Pan chuckled and wrapped her arms around his neck, playing with his hair with her fingers. "Yes." She thought for a moment. "Well at least not tonight." She commented with a lopsided smile.
A delighted smirk spread onto his face. "You are full of surprises, you know that?." He said, wrapping his hands around her waist and gently pulling her closer.
"Yeah, I know. Thats why you married me." Pan grinned mischievously, the familiar fire burning in her eyes.
"Now my Prince, take me to your chambers." She whispered to him seductively and leaned into him, her brown eyes boring deep into his glacier blue ones.
Trunks smiled in response. "What ever you wish, my dear." He murmured into her ear, and making her giggle, he roughly scooped the lithe woman into his arms, carried her to the door of their bedroom, where he put her down and sealed her mouth with a deep, thorough kiss.
For a long while they stayed latched onto each other, lost in oblivion until they ran out of air.
"Trunks?" Pan asked breathlessly as their lips parted.
"Hmm?" Murmured, his face still inches form hers.
"You will take me to that restaurant tomorrow wont you?" Pan asked , looking up at him with her puppy dog eyes, but all the while her eyes shined with that all too familiar mischief. This was an order not a request. He shouldve known he wasnt getting off the hook this easy.
Trunks chuckled, and gazed at her with a mixture of fondness and amusement. "Hai Pan, Ill take you there. And shopping too." He said softly and kissed her gently on the lips.
Then pulling away form her he grinned.
"That is, if I dont tire you out."
"Hmmp, well just see who tires who out." She huffed smugly, and stuck her index finger painfully into his chest.
"Now are you going to get on with it or do I have to carry yo-UUU!" But before shed finished her sentence hed already thrown her over his shoulder, and chuckling at her protests of him throwing her around like a sack of potatoes, he carried her into the room closed the door behind him.
