Hondah Red Ryder
INTRODUCTION:

Our adult daughter had just gotten a kitten.  We have been without a pet for a while. We had talked about getting another cat, but enjoyed the freedom of not having to worry about an animal when we decide to take off on our Honda Getaway bike. Ken had always wanted an animal that would ride the motorcycle as he had seen occasionally. He stated that was his wish for the next animal, which would mean a  young pet that could be trained.  We also knew we would need a very kind animal that would be friendly and safe around Counselees since the heartbeat of UPheart Uphand is to have Crisis Counselees actually stay in our home for a week. We thought this was prabably too much to demand of any one  animal.  So we tryed to be content with our daughter having a kitten.

The Lord cares about the desires in the hearts of His people.

I went to a friends to celebrate her birthday.  There was this precious little kitten sprawled out on her couch.  She explained to her guests that it must be a Birthday present from God.  She loves cats, yet she is unable to have any more than she has in her Mobile Home Park. she knew she would enjoy the kitten for the day, but then she would have to begin a search for the onwer or a new home.  I told her that I would take her if she could not find the owner.  She begged me to take the kitten home, for she feared that she would "fall in love" and she was unable to keep her. So I brought little Hondah home.
Upon seeing the kitten, Ken said, "And what are we going to do with a kitten?" I said, " I thought that we had talked about getting one"... and I explained the story.  He didnt act much interested, yet the next morning he took the kitten with him to work.  He ended up having to drive to several locations that day and the kitten was PERFECT.  He was amazed how gentle she was.  After that day, the two are solidly  bonded.
We tucked Hondah Ryder deep inside our jackets as we went on Motorcycle rides.  She had a hard time with the wind in her face. She was very content to be buried in our jackets. When we stopped, she would walk merrily along beside us (like a dog). It was quite comical and amazed others looking on.  One day Ken and Hondah were in the garage and Ken said she jumped up on the Bike as if she wanted to go for a ride.   So he took her for a ride.    One unusal time, she decided not to walk close by us when we were looking at a country house for sale.  The driveway was long and she did not keep up with us, so we walked out of her view.  We worried that she might be hard to find when we were ready to leave.  But we found her crying at the Bike, trying to get up.  She knew the "Bike" was home.   What a precious one.
Hondah is getting bigger now.  We figure she was prabably born the week of July 4th, 2000.  She continues to be a sweetheart.  She is very people friendly. The grandchildren can crawl all over her and she takes it graciously. She is very meek and mild.  God has provided us with a great Counseling Cat.  We believe she  will bring comfort to many who need that touch from a soft, fluffy creation of God.  God has indeed blessed us.
