Rodney Street, Liverpool

The
area around Rodney Street has always been well known for its
local community of solicitors, lecturers and doctors and has
often been described as the Harley Street of the North. In
amongst this ocean of professionals the ILP Review Team have
discovered a little gem of a restaurant, Cafe Renouf.
Owned
by cousins Martin and Petra, Cafe Renouf opened in 1997 and is
named after their own Grandfather who hails from Jersey, hence
the French influences upon style and cuisine.
The
elegant design of the exterior gives little hint of the delights
that await you upon entering the main dining area. Once inside,
what immediately impresses is the warm and homely feel that
engulfs you. The French art nouveau paintings and photographs,
soft music playing in the background and all the while gentle
vapours of home cooking dancing up from the basement kitchen all
conspire to caress your senses.
The
food itself is prepared fresh on the premises and the cafe's
market-to-table policy ensures only the best ingredients are
used on a daily basis. One outstanding feature at Cafe Renouf is
their willingness to explore and develop new creations
constantly, resulting in a multitude of exquisite dishes that
constantly challenge and tempt your taste-buds. There is a
regular offering of an a' la carte menu that blends classic and
new ideas together and contains several highlights, chicken
breast stuffed with goats cheese and olives in a roasted pepper
and tomato sauce is a firm favourite with regulars.
To
take advantage of seasonal produce each month a monthly menu
appears that takes its influence from a wider range of cooking
styles, French, English and Mediterranean and fuses them
together with great imagination. There is also a separate
lunchtime menu and specials board (daily change) that offer
lighter meals and snacks at fantastic value for money.
Vegetarians are well catered for at Cafe Renouf and have options
on all the listed menu's.
The
wine list is largely new world but very well selected and priced
to please, why not try a glass with one of the many cheeses on
offer from the cheese board.
Each
month Cafe Renouf plays host to a special themed evening with a
party atmosphere. Over recent months a whole
spectrum of these popular nights have taken place such as the
fantastic Spanish night presented a' la carte style
and where diners are entertained with Flamenco dancers and traditional
Spanish music.
Cafe
Renouf is perfectly located for pre-theatre diners and early
diners can take advantage of early evening special set menu's,
an ideal way to begin any night out.
So
if you are looking to enjoy some of the best food in Liverpool
in an atmosphere so relaxed and friendly you'll wonder where the
nights gone book a table at Cafe Renouf, you won't be
disappointed, highly recommended.
Bon
appetit!
Cafe
Renouf can be booked for private parties, corporate events and
special occasions. Also available for outside catering including
staff.
