Occupying a prominent position on the main road through the busy shopping area of Hazel Grove, recently opened Pasha has brought a welcome corner of the Mediterranean to this suburb of Stockport.

The eye-catching exterior of the restaurant sets it aside from its surroundings and immediately conjures up thoughts of the sunnier climate of its owners origins.

On entering the main dining area the Mediterranean influence becomes more evident. Sand yellow walls with clever lighting effects and the beautiful stone floor along with the blue washed woodwork help create an atmosphere we all recognise from our favourite holiday haunts.

The open kitchen adds perfectly to the scene and its immaculate appearance is very reassuring. Pasha is run by people who not only care passionately about their restaurant and its food but also about their customers. Many years experience in the restaurant trade clearly shows in the way everyone is welcomed as 'old friends' but leave as new friends.

The menu drifts around the Mediterranean taking its influences from many sources and brings them all together in the perfect mix.

The 21 different starters are all superb and its difficult to highlight only one for this review but the Mixed Meze, cold mixed hors d'oeuvres or the Lux Meze, mixed hot and cold hors d'oeuvres are definitely worthy dishes to begin any meal.

The main course list offers an amazing 29 choices including fabulous vegetarian options and again its hard to choose just one as all are superb. The fish dishes are as good as you will encounter anywhere and the whole sea bass and sea bream dishes have to be seen to be believed - quite stunning. The steaks they serve are sizable and are always beautifully served with accompanying potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables or salad.

Friendly staff are always willing to discuss any dish on the menu and can help you make the correct choice time and again. The sweet trolley always has several mouth-watering temptations to round off your meal and fresh blended coffee is on offer for those of you whose sweet tooth is still in check.

Finally, the wine list has been carefully compiled and is well priced and contains several quality reds.

Pasha is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy good food and wine in surroundings that perfectly capture that special Mediterranean atmosphere. A warm welcome awaits everyone at Pasha so whether the sun is shining or not Pasha can bring a little sunshine to every visit - truly fantastic.
