Broken Hearts and Shattered Dreams

No matter how long it had been since I’d seen him, my feelings for Carmine never seemed to change.  He had never said anything, but I was sure he felt the same way.   If only circumstances had been different.  I sighed.  No use thinking about something that’ll never be.

I looked around the room.  Vinnie was incredible. I was going to be in the same band with him?  It didn’t seem possible.  It seemed like a dream.

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of several more of our group.   Amidst the  greetings, my dad said, “I really have to go.  I promised Barbara I’d come down and see her  tonight.”   He turned to Carmine, “If Jon doesn’t make it, you’ll make sure Tami gets home safely?”

“You can count on it,” replied Carmine.

The rest of the band members arrived shortly after that.  We spent the next hour or so comparing stories and talking about our ideas for the band.  Carmine is a very democratic. There’s never any doubt who’s in charge, but he’s always open for input.
