"The Blair Witch Project." I think it was supposed to only be limited release at first, but then everyone wanted to see it for some unknown reason. So, they release it all across the good ol' U.S. of A. and a week later in Paducah. The day after it opens, I go to see it and it says it's sold out. Which freaked me out, because it was for a noon-ish show. But then I found out it was the sign from the night before, so I got to see it...on to the review!!!
It's filmed with normal home video cameras...amateur actors...and they use the actors' real names in the movie. HOW CUTE! I also heard rumours that they sent the actors out in the woods alone for awhile so they'd do it good. Anyway, since it's done with home video technology, the screen shakes a lot. Therefore, making some weak-stomached fools sick. Also it only took them roughly $30k to film, and they've alredy made loads of cash.
It was good. It was great. It was terrific! I HAVE NO IDEA IF I SPELLED THAT RIGHT! In the words of the mighty Train, "it should be a moral imperative that everyone sees that movie...... you should burn in hell for forever if you don't."
Eric and I agree that it's the third best horror flick of the decade. We both agree that "Silence of the Lambs" was the best, but I think "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" was the second. He think "Seven" was. Either way, "The Blair Witch Project" comes in third. With all the garbage they call horror in the 90's (Scream, Scream 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer, I STILL know what you did last summer, I sTiLL Know how you eat your cereal in the mornings, etc etc.) this was a refreshing break, and maybe horror will become good again. *Hopes*
Well, this wasn't a teeny-bopper movie, even though it will get teeny-bopped. But, it was wonderful. Thank you, and goodnight. -PSK
