If you ever wanted to assign selected texture or just a few parts of
it to a single object?
Then here is a solution:
You can use Unwarp UWV tool to do this...
For this exercise we will use a box and texture that has a multiple parts for our box.
1.) Reset Max.
2.)In Create pannel choose Objects and then choose box that is in Standard primitives section. "Path:\Create\Objects\Standard primitives\Box"
3.)Draw a box. Set all segments to 1.
4.)Go to Material Editor and pick a texture named Funnyshapes.jpg.
Let sure that the option "Show texture in viewport" is active (this
will show texture on a box). Assign texture to box.
5.)Go to Modify pannel and choose button "More" (button is above command
buttons).
Now select a "Unwrap UWV" command and click "OK"
"Path:\Modify\More\Unwrap UWV"
6.)Now click on a "Sub-object" button and select desired face.
Then click on a "Planar map" button at the end of the window.
Click on a Edit..." button to edit the uwvs.
7.)Now comes the tuffest part...
In "Edit" window you can see your texture in the background and lines
with verts.
With those lines and verts you control the area of your texture.
Becouse you have seted the segments to 1, there is only a square and
4 verts.
Now move those verts to a desired part of texture so that the square
is covering the desired part of the texture.
Uf! that was hard wasn`t it?
8.)Now you can close the "Edit" window and render ...
You should get something like this...
9.)Wow! you made it!
Keep practicing and have fun!
