Welcome!
As a soon-to-graduate student of an RN program, I created this site in response to an assignment in which I was to present ten WWW sites that could be useful to nurse managers/leaders. Overachiever (and disruptive element) that I am, I had the bright idea of building a web site to fulfill this requirement. Though I could not find any sites, to speak of, specifically geared toward managers/leaders, most of these sites are useful to all members of the profession, including
the aforementioned, and some of the comprehensive sites have sections specifically for nurse managers.
My primary goal in creating this site was to provide links to, and descriptions of, the best nursing sites available. I exercised much discipline in excluding the hundreds, if not thousands, of sites whose main content is a compilation of links to links to links and endeavored, instead, to identify those sites that are useful for their original and substantial content. This involved many hours of surfing the web in hope that I can save other busy students and nurses those precious hours. For the most part, I excluded links to organizations, as these are already quite easy to find. I also excluded sites whose content was predominantly commercial in nature, or required a fee for use.
My second goal was to uphold the sanctity of usability, good taste, and professionalism while enjoying the exercise of my artistic side in the creation of an aesthetically pleasing design. In this I believe I succeeded. I did, at one point, however, suffer a temporary lapse of sanity which resulted in an obnoxiously ostentatious page complete with banners of flashing animated gifs in totally tasteless colors.
I had a lot of fun building this site (to the minor detriment of my less stimulating academic obligations). I hope that you will find it useful and enjoyable. It is always a work in progress, and, as stated on the index page, I appreciate any contribution of sites that fit the above criteria.
