My name is Sylvia Hart. I
am a volunteer searcher. I do not recieve any money for
my searches, (most have been for family or close friends,
anyway) I am listed with several search angel sites.
HOWEVER,,,,,I am really stumped on this paticular search.
My aunt is an adoptee that has been searching for 10
years. This is her information, she has stopped searching
for awhile because of the emotional trauma related to her
adoption.....she is also my best friend,,,,and I have
continued her search,,,,,,until she can deal with it
again, or we get a new lead....
Her name is Connie King Hawsey
she was born Brenda Jean Grice
born July 29, 1963
Baptist Hospital, New Orleans, LA
her adoption was handled thru Sellers Baptist Childrens
Home
Her papers say that Dr King delivered her.
Thomas Barr III was the attorney
according to Sellers, her birth parents names were Edith
Bell Grice and Donald J Grice and that they were married
at the time of the adoption.
according to Sellers, her b-parents walked into Sellers
and surrendered her to adoption on August 13, 1963
Now for the rest of the story,,,,,,,I found a
marriage license in GA for Edith and Donald,,,,,they were
married 6 years before Connie (Brenda Jean) was born. He
was in the merchant marines and then joined the army.....
I located Edith Bell Grice,,,,,and have spoken with her,
as well. Edith and Donald Grice had a daughter, Noreen
Grice, born March of 1963,,,,I have also spoken with
Noreen.
According to Edith,,,,,while she was pregnant with
Noreen,,,Donald got his 15 year old girlfriend
pregnant. Donald was 36 at the time....Edith left him,
and he remained with the 15 year old until the baby was
born and they surrendered her to adoption....that baby
was Connie.....
We presume that Donald brought the 15 year old to
Sellers and made her assume his wife's identity, (because
of her age) and that is why Sellers has Edith listed as
Connie's birth mother. Connie has looked for
Edith, (thinking Edith was her birth mother) for 10
years,,,,and after finally finding her,,,,and finding out
that she is not her birthmother, has been very
emotional for her....She has asked me to look for Donald,
but feels like she cant take an active part in the search
until we have a new lead,,,,,
We have NO leads on the birthmother,,,,,(the 15 year
old),,,unless we locate her birth father (Donald),,,,,On
the marriage license application, Donald's birthdate is
listed as December 1,1927,,,,born Baton Rouge, LA,,,,,he
is in his 70's now.....and we stand virtually no chance
of finding her birth mother without him,,,,,,,
Noreen and Connie are half sisters,,,,,both are delighted
to find the other,,,,,and both are looking for
Donald,,,,,and have not been able to find him,,,,,,i have
some more information on Donald,,,,but wont bore you with
it all right now,,,,,,
Having said all that,,,,,,(I know this is
long,,,,I'm sorry),,,,,,I thought I would share her
story,,,(with her permission),,,,in hopes that someone
else may have an idea, that we havent thought of,,,,
I cant seem to just let this one go,,,,,,if you have any
ideas on the subject I have open ears,,,,,,,
I know you cant search for us,,,,but I thought maybe
someone else may think of something I havent.....
