looking around.... (conc)
Raven-Kat -- Rae stares at the image
of a swarm of bugs taking her friends hostage. "Bad, icky space-buggies..." she whispers.
"I beg your pardon?" Pilot says uncertainly.
"No, never mind." Rae shakes her head and turns on her communicator. "Vi, tell me you have the magic crayon!"
"Uh, yes, I think so..."
"Great, we need misquito netting, bug spray, a bee-keeper's suit..."
"BUG spray?" Mouse demands. "Bee-Keeper's suit? Rae, what the Hezmana?"
"Space buggies." Rae mutters.
"WHAT?"
"Please, guys, just, uh.. DO it? Please?"
"Uh, okay..." Mouse says uncertainly. "We're on it..."
"Great, thanks. Out." Rae climbs onto Pilot's console and stares at the read-outs. "Tell Crais we need him now. Right frelling now! No more excuses, no stalling. Tell him."
"Of course. Would you like to tell him yourself?" Pilot asks.
"No, YOU tell him. Tell him I mean it, that I'm not playing about. Tell him."
"Transmitting now." Pilot says.
"Great. Thanks, big guy." Rae jumps to the ground and turns the ship-wide comm unit on. "Attention, alien invaders. This is Lieutenant Colonel Katlyn, commander of this ship. Be aware that you are dealing with Peacekeepers. There will be no negotiation and no prisoners. However... as we are currently on more important business we offer you a final opportunity to leave without any blood being shed. If you refuse this generous offer, no quarter will be given and you will be slaughtered to the man. My people have orders to hold their current positions at all costs, however, the way to the docking bay will be left free. Release the hostages and you will learn that even Peacekeepers are capable of being reasonable. Otherwise, you will perish in a battle that will be remembered for centuries to come."
Eloise -- Oh No! We lost another one!
"Uh, Rag I don't think you should..." Eloise began. But it was too late, Ragnar and the Fridge disappeared in a whoosh of vacuumed air.
"I hope he knows what he's doing!" says Beebo with a look of consternation on her face. "No one really knows how or how well that contraption works."
"Oh I hope he'll be alright." worries Eloise "We don't want him landing just anywhere in there. And I hope he'll be able to find the rest of the Scapers too."
Just then something drips onto the table next to Eloise. "What's that?" she asks.
"The mural is dripping again." says Beebo looking up at the ceiling. "Too bad the polyurathane spray went in with Vi or we could fix it."
SunAeryn -- How the Frell did they get in?
Sun yelled at Rae. "No one has gotten in through the dock, not on my watch!" She continued as she and those with her ran to rescue Aeryn, KaraS and Rygel. "Rae, is there another docking bay that you failed to mention to me? If so, how the frell was I suppose to watch BOTH?" Sun continued her rant as she and the others(who IS with me? I forgot) snuck up on the icky space buggies that had Aeryn, KaraS and Rygel.
Rygel was trying to convence the icky space buggies to let him go. "I am Dominar Rygel the 16th, ruler of All Hyneria. I demand that you release me."
"Shut up Rygel, you are not helping" Aeryn mumbled.
KaraS was so freaked by the big icky space buggies that she couldn't utter a word.
"Pilot" whispered Sun "I need the DRDs to block the end of this tier, please."
"How SunAeryn?" Pilot answered
"Frell, how should I know." Sun thought
"Oh, tell them to get into defensive posture." Sun added
She had her pulse rifle aimed at the leader of the space buggies, but he convenantly had KaraS and Aeryn in front of him.
"Dren!" Sun thought, "I have a clear shot, sort of. I wonder how freaked KaraS would be with space buggie guts all over her? I think Aeryn would be ok, but knowing Kara, she'd add another bucket of paint to the one she's already got hidden in the Mansion for me."
Sun tried to get KaraS' attention but Kara was to busy watching Rygel. Sun was able to get Aeryn's attention and they devised a plan. Aeryn would distract the leader long enough for Sun to take him out. "Here's hoping this works." Sun thought.
Raven-Kat -- “You know, Pilot....”
Rae begins very slowly, and at her most reasonable. "Sun raises a VERY interesting point. HOW THE FRELLING HEZMANA DID THEY GET ABOARD?"
"I am still endeavoring to discover that, Rae." Pilot says gently. "Be patient."
Rae grits her teeth and glares at Pilot. "Patience is a foriegn quality to my people." she reminds him.
"MANY qualities are foriegn to your people." Pilot suggests. "Yet you HAVE learned them."
Rae sighs. "Right, then. Let me know as soon as you figure out how they got on board."
"I will. Of course."
"Of course." Rae sighs. "Sorry, man. Is Crais through the barrier yet?"
"He is. And on his way here."
"His... guest?"
"I do not know."
"Right." Rae nods and goes after Sunny, who may need backup. "Pilot, I need 5 DRDs on me, 5 more on Sunny, and two trailing our guests and their hostages at all times. Keep me informed, and, by all that you deem holy, don't let those bugs near any more of my people!"
Mouse2000 -- Viridian gets out her crayon
And breaks it in half. She gives half to Mouse, who is having a hard time thinking how she's going to draw a net, bugspray, or a beekeeper's outfit. Before they only drew ON something, like a wall, or a picture. But how do you draw usable bug spray?
Mouse looks over at Viridian, who is busy drawing a grid on the floor. Mouse expresses her concerns to Vi, who possesses MUCH more artistic creativity than Mouse ever will, and she smiles. "You continue on the net, and I'll take care of the other stuff." Vi says gently.
Mouse continues making the grid on the ground, but not knowing how big the space bugs are, she doesn't know how big to make the grid. She settles on a random pattern of small and bigger holes, figuring that at least most of the bugs would get tangled up in it. She continued to make multiple grids, as Viridian made the outfits and a few dozen of the large bug spray canisters like Mouse had seen the termite people use on Earth. Finally, Viridian came and picked up the edge of the grid, and shook it out. To Mouse's surprise, the grid became a large net. Mouse shook out the others and carefully folded them. Viridian dressed herself and Mouse in the outfits, Viridian drew a couple of big tote bags to hold the canisters, and the pair cautiously started down the passageway toward Command.
Mouse clicked her Com and told Rae that they were done, and what's next?
KaraS -- “ZZZzzzzzzzz”
the aliens chuckled.
"Don't push." Rygel said. "I am a Dominar. Treat me with some respect."
"ZZZZzzzzz. You must be the one to show respect when our Great Captain passes judgement on you." the alien squad leader said.
"No!" Rygel said. "Your Captain must show respect for ME!"
"Do not anger the Great Captain." the alien advised. "That is not wise."
While the aliens were looking at Rygel, Aeryn Sun set about getting out of her bonds. Bending down briefly, she slid the knife out of her boot and set about sawing through her ropes.
KaraS was very freaked out by the whole experience.
"First an ogre wants to turn me into a Kara Pot Pie. Then I'm captured by giant bug aliens. This has NOT been my day."
Raven-Kat -- “Mouse, Vi,”
Rae says, "You are the BEST! Extra doughnuts for you when we get back!"
"That great, Rae. But what's next?" Mouse inquires.
"Ah, Mouse. Always the practical one." Rae smiles. "I've always admired that about you."
"Uh... thanks." Mouse frowns quizzically. "The plan, Rae? You DO have a plan?"
"Sure do. No prisoners, no mercy."
"Oh my god..." Mouse mutters, wondering if Rae isn't even more PeaceKeeper than she's been letting on.
"KIDDING!" Rae assures her with a laugh, though the thought HAD crossed her mind. "Meet me at the junction to tiers three and..." Rae consults a blue-print. "four. Three and four. You know where that is?"
"Near the dining room?"
"It's a mess-hall." Rae mutters. "Uh, yeah. Meet me IN the mess-hall. We'll use it as our staging ground. Pilot!"
"Yes, Rae?"
"Give them directions to the crew mess that avoid any of the bugs."
"Of course. Are you there, miss Mouse?"
Mouse snickers. "Yes, Pilot."
"From your present location, turn..."
"Left, Pilot." Rae supplies over her shoulder as she leaves the chamber.
"Thankyou. Laughed."
"LEFT!"
"Sorry. Left and walk until the third junction..."
******************************************************
Smiling, Rae hurries to the mess hall. "Sunny?"
"Yes?"
"Status, please?"
"Uh, trailing them now."
"Do not, repeat, do NOT engage the enemy AT THIS TIME."
"Are you out of your frelling mind?"
"Sunny, we now have equipment and backup is on the way. If you have a way of reaching the crew mess, do so immediately."
SunAeryn -- Frell!
Sun mumbles under her breath after Rae mentioned not engaging the icky space buggies. Just as Aeryn bent down to grab the knife in her boot the alien that had her caught on and pulled her up so she couldn't get it. She did not looked pleased, not one bit. KaraS was looking rather unhappy that Aeryn hadn't succeded in getting the knife out. Rygel was still causing trouble. "Rygel, shut up!" Aeryn yelled under her breath at him.
Sun made motions to let Aeryn know that the plan they had, has been changed. 'How do I let them know that we have to meet Rae and the others in the mess hall?' Sun wondered allowed. Then it hit her, charades! Surely Aeryn would be able to figure it out. Sun started pantomiming that she had to go meet Rae in the mess hall and that help was on the way. At first Aeryn looked at her like she was kinkoid. KaraS started to yell, but realized that it would cause the buggies to realize that Sun and others were there. "You're leaving us?" KaraS whispered looking at Sun, not to happy. "I'll be back" Sun whispered back "Rae has a plan." "Where the hezmana do you think you...."Rygel shouted as Sun started to leave.
ZZZZZzzzzz"Halt! Take no more stepzzz!" the head bug yelled at Sun. Sun turned around and "Thanks a lot, you little wart!" she glared at Rygel as she watched the bugs head for her. Aeryn tried to get to Rygel and smack him. KaraS just looked at Rygel like he ate the last doughnut. "This is just frellin' great! Pilot tell Rae...." was all Sun got out before the bugs gagged her. Sun shot daggers at Rygel. 'Wait til I get that little wart alone.' Sun thought as the bugs dragged her over to where Aeryn, KaraS and Rygel were.
KaraS -- “More captives!”
gloated the squad leader. "Tie her up. Let's move out!"
"That was the plan? Get yourself captured?" KaraS asked SunAeryn.
"Not really." Sun sighed. "I was improvising. Rae has a plan."
"Oh dear." KaraS said.
Aeryn and Rygel were arguing with the insectoid aliens.
"ZZZZZzzzzz. Move along now." one of the alien guards said.
"I will NOT!" said Rygel. "I will not do anything you say."
"Neither will I." Aeryn Sun said.
"You must come. We are taking you back to our ship. Our Great Captain wants to see you."
"Then let him come here." Rygel said.
"Go now!" the alien said, threatening Rygel with it's gun.
"This could get ugly." KaraS whispered to SunAeryn.
"Yeah, and soon." SunAeryn said.
Raven-Kat -- “They’ve been CAPTURED?”
Rae demands of Pilot, not even slowing in her rush to get to the mess-hall where Mouse and Vi waited. "How?"
Pilot quickly explained what had happened and why.
"Two words, Pilot." Rae mutters as she enters the mess hall. "FROG LEGS!!!" she shrieks.
"What, is that some kind of Sebacian curse?" Mouse asks.
"No, it's what I PLAN ON HAVING FOR FRELLING DINNER if anyone gets hurt because of that farbotz little pile of drenn! DRENN DRENN DRENN!!!" Rae picks up the first thing that comes to her hands (a plate) and hurls it across the room. It shatters against the bulk-head. "I will kill him myself if Sunny or Kara get hurt."
"Okay..." Mouse says slowly. "Calm down Rae."
"I work better like this." Rae informs her. "Do you have what I need?"
"Yes." Mouse indicates the supplies laid out on the table.
"Great, now all we need is some DDT and we're all set."
"That'll kill us, too!" Vi protests.
"Respirators, then." Rae says. "Mouse, chemistry is your field. Work with me here. PILOT! Where are the others?"
"On their way."
"Others?" Mouse asks.
"The rest of the crew. We can hold this place indefinately." Rae explains. "Now that we've lost most of our fighting men, we'll need to change tactics."
"In what way?" D'argo demands, striding in with Chianna and Zhann.
"Civilians remain here with a contingent of DRDs. You and I go rescue the others."
"And me?" John demands. "Huh?"
"You stay here and hold down the fort." Rae hands him a canister of bug spray and whispers, "Don't mess this up, human." More loudly, she adds. "We need at least one competent warrior-type down here. Pilot's working on respirators as we speak just in case we need to drop a bug-bomb."
Raven-Kat -- “May I ask you a question?”
D'Argo hesitantly asks Rae as they walk down the corridor, weapons at ready.
*Drenn, here we go...* "But you just did."
D'Argo stops in confusion.
"I'm sorry. Go ahead and ask it."
"You are Sebacian?"
"Yes." Rae resumes walking.
"Fully Sebacian?" D'Argo persists, following.
"Yes."
"Then, uh, why do you have feathers instead of hair?"
*Like no one's ever asked me THAT before!* "It's a long, and somewhat embarrasing story involving a Delvian Pa'U, an Indian Shaman and an unsuccesful spiritual quest." Rae says without looking back at him.
SunAeryn -- The bugs kept moving toward the
docking bay. "Rygel, shut up." Sun finally managed to get the gag out of her mouth. "You are not helping any." "But, I am the Dominar, I can not be treated in this manner." Rygel shot back. "Your lowliness, if you don't shut the frell up, you will wish that the bug eat you!" Sun shot at Rygel. Sun wasn't at all pleased that the litte wart got her captured. "Sun, don't you think your being a little hard on him?" KaraS asked. "Kara, my friend, I know you like Rygel and all, but seriously, he is not helping matters any. Rae has a plan, what I don't know, because SOMEONE got me captured! As much as I like Vi, Mouse and the others, they are not the fighting type. So that leaves, Rae and D'Argo. Knowing Rae she will ask John to stay with Mouse, Vi and the others, to help them fight off the bugs if they make it to the mess hall." Sun told Kara. The ugly space bugs were moving fast, faster than their captives could. It gave Sun and Idea! "Kara, Aeryn, I have an idea." Sun whispered to them, leaving Rygel out on purpose. "Whatever happens, just play along." Kara looked skeptical, Aeryn looked like Sun had lost her mind. "Look, I'm trying to buy Rae sometime, so I'm going to slow down the space bugs a little. You two gonna help or not?" Sun added. Kara nodded in the affrimative. "What do you have planned?" Aeryn asked. "You'll see, just do not engage the bugs, ok? No matter what." Sun told Aeryn
"This doesn't sound good Sun." Kara said, looking a little scared at what Sun might do.
"Trust me Kara, no one will get hurt, if we can keep Rygel quiet. Can you do that? If he starts again, shove something in his wacket hole, ok?" Sun asked Kara
"Um, ok, I don't think he'll like it. But sure." Kara agreed
"He doesn't have to like it. Just don't hurt him. It should all work out." Sun responded
Just then the bugs spoke "No talkingzzzz! Move!". They shoved the captives and Sun fell, twisting her ankle. "Dren! I can't walk. I twisted my ankle." She yelled.
"That's your plan?" Kara whispered
Sun looked up at Kara "Just keep Rygel quiet!"
"Get up....move! Nowzzzz!" the bugs demanded.
"I can't walk you frellin' over grown cockroach!" Sun yelled at the bug trying to pull her up.
While Sun was distracting the bugs, Aeryn snuck out of sight.
"Where the yotmmmmm?" Rygel tried to get out, Kara shove a wad of something in his mouth before the bugs could hear him. "Shhh, your Eminence. Aeryn is going to try to help Rae get rid of the bugs, if you'll shut up, that is. Now, you going to keep quiet or does that wad stay?" Kara asked the Dominar.
Sun managed to get free of the binding on her wrists, she had a squirt gun hidden in her vest. She pulled it out,
"Freeze or I'll fill ya full of bug spray! It's the strongest stuff on Earth. It'll kill ya instantly."
Kara just looked at the squirt gun, amused.
Raven-Kat -- As Rae and D’Argo walked
they heard a scuffling noise behind them. Both turned, weapons at ready.
"Whoa!" Aeryn holds her hands out to indicate she comes in peace. "Now I know how John feels."
"Aeryn!" D'Argo quickly walks over to her. "I am quite pleased to see you."
"As are we all, Liuetenant." Rae agrees. She walks over and grabs Aeryn by the shoulder in a gesture of friendship. "How did you escape?"
Aeryn quickly outlines Sunny's plan and it's results.
"Great." Rae hefts a canister of bug spray. "Which way are they headed?"
"Aft." Aeryn says.
"Right. Think we can get this to our people?"
"Possibly. What is it?"
"Bug-spray." Rae grins.
"If we can mark the canister to indicate that..." Aeryn says. "But in a way the bugs can't understand."
"English." Rae says. "No one out here can understand English. In fact, it's the most complicated language on Earth. WIERD rules..."
"Take you long to learn, then?" Aeryn inquires as Rae produces a marker and begins writing a message on the side of the canister.
"Well, once Command killed my translator microbes, I didn't have much of a choice."
"They KILLED your microbes?" Aeryn asks. "WHY?"
"Can't learn a new language with the things." Rae explains, hefting tht canister. "Impossible. Now, let's move. We need to get this in front of them."
"This way." Aeryn says, leading on. "So, how many languages DO you know?"
"Uh, Sebacian, obviously. Luxan; Delvian; American, Australian, and British English; Spanish; conversational Scarran; enough Nebari to ask directions to the 7-11; I even understand bits and pieces of Pilot's native tounge. Now THAT took years..."
"Through here." Aeryn says, pointing to an access hatch.
Rae puts down the canister, crawls throught the hatch, and takes it from Aeryn on the other side. When the others make it through, Rae speaks. "Listen, I know you guys don't much like Crais, but he's on his way here, and he IS going to help us."
"Crais is a liar and a traitor." Aeryn protests.
"So are you. So am I." Rae reminds her. "Look, we NEED armed backup if this gets out of hand."
"GETS out of hand?" Aeryn demands.
Rae sighs. "Can we just deal with this for the time being? You're sure they'll pass this area?"
"If they continue the way they were heading they MUST." Aeryn assures her.
"Great." Rae places the canister against a wall. It doesn't particullarly stand out, except for the block-letter scrawled across the front proclaiming: ROACHES CHECK IN... THEY DON'T CHECK OUT
"What does it say?" Aeryn asks.
"It says, 'fight-fight-fight for the red-blue-and-white.'"
"WHAT?"
Rae shakes her head. "It tells my people that it's bug-spray. Let's move out."
The three hurry down the corridor to come back out behind the bugs and their hostages.
"Rae?" Pilot's voice comes over her comm, startling her so badly that she nearly discharges her weapon.
"Go ahead." Rae says shakily.
"Crais is requesting permission to come aboard."
"Tell him to bring weapons." Rae says and keeps walking.
Chryse74 -- Did Rae just say what I think she said?
"Pilot, can you confirm that Crais is coming aboard?" asked John.
"Yes, Commander, the Colonel has instructed me to let Crais on board, with weapons." replied Pilot.
"oh Gawd! I really hope Rae knows what the hezmana she thinks she's doing!" says chryse.
"We'll just have to watch out for him and the bugs." said John
"I wonder what Moya and Talyn are saying to each other, " asks chryse.
"I think it's kinda personal. We probably don't want to know," said Mouse.
"Uh, I just thought of something. I know that Rae put us here for our own protection, but what exactly can we do to help? I really don't like just waiting around here, wondering what Rae's planning. maybe we could do something. What weapons and skills do we have that could help out?" asked chryse.
Eloise -- Pacing the floorboards....
Beebo walked in one direction and Eloise in the other.
*THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, turn*
*THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, turn*
"I wish we knew what was going on in there," says Eloise. "I hate being stuck out here waiting while they get to have an adventure!"
Just then Beebo touches Eloise's arm. Eloise stops and turns to see Beebo pointing at the painted Moya.
"Look! A message!" she yells. "6th's Black Box."
"What does it mean?" asks Eloise confused.
"Let's go find 6th!" Beebo replies hurriedly, dragging Eloise out thee door. "She can explain!"
KaraS -- “We have to help them!”
Chryse said. "We can't just sit around!"
"Rae told us to wait here." Mouse pointed out.
"But that doesn't mean we have to." Viridian said.
"We should try to help out." IQ said, breaking his long silence.
"Perhaps we could think of something." Crichton said. "Zhaan, do you have any ideas?"
"Yes I do." said Zhaan. "Everybody follow me."
Crichton and the four 'Scapers followed Zhaan out of the Central Chamber and down the hallway to the infirmary.
"I'll make up a sticky compound." she said. "We can use it to trap the invaders."
Quickly, Zhaan made up a big batch of the stuff.
"It's a lovely purple color." Viridian said. "And has a texture like paint."
"I get it." Crichton said. "We dump this stuff on the space bugs and stick them up."
"But how do we deliver it?" Chryse asked.
"We can put it in buckets and prop them up on doorways." IQ suggested.
"Good idea." Crichton said. "Let's get cracking."
Meanwhile...
Moya's hanger deck opened and a prowler bearing Crais and Ragnar landed. The two men stepped out, laden with weapons.
"Where do we go now?" asked Ragnar, looking around him with awe.
"Pilot!" Crais said into his comm badge. "Where does Colonel Rae want us?"
KaraS -- ROACHES CHECK IN....
BUT THEY DON'T CHECK OUT!
That's what the writing on the cannister said. KaraS saw it and picked it up as she passed by. The alien squad leader was too busy arguing with Rygel to notice.
"Sun!" Kara whispered. "Look what I found."
"That looks like it will be useful." Sun said. "Keep it hidden until just the right moment..."
Raven-Kat -- “Where do I WANT them, Pilot?”
Rae asks with a fond smile. "Oh, I can think of a few places where I WANT them... Right now, though, I NEED them in Command. Can you get them through without the bugs knowing about their presence?"
"I will endeavor to."
"Great, Pilot. Good man." Rae sighs. "Can I talk to them?"
"Putting you through now..."
"Bailar? Rag? You there?"
"We are."
"Rae, what the hell is going on?"
"We're under attack, Ragnar. Let Bailar brief you on your way up to Command. I need firepower. Bailar, tell me you brought firepower?"
"As per your request we are both most heavily armed."
"Splendid." Rae says. "I will see you both in Command. Pilot?"
"Yes?" Has the parcel been delivered?"
"I beg your pardon?"
"The canister?"
"Why yes. It has been picked up."
"Good, then everything is almost in readiness. Alert the mess-hall--"
"No one remains in the mess-hall."
"WHAT?" D'Argo bellows.
"Drenn!" Rae yells. "Where are they?"
"Internal tracking is stretched thin at the moment. You wanted constant survielance on the bugs and-" Pilot sounds apologetic.
"It's okay big guy." Rae sighs. "Establish contact and warn them off as the need arises. Please keep my friends safe."
"I will defend their lives with my own should the need arise."
"Well, I can only hope it does not." Rae whispers. She mutters a sentence she learned long ago in Pilot's own language, then added, "Rae out."
Kaybe0 -- Looking around in wonder
Kay is glad that someone knows what they are doing, because, she is a little worried.
(Sorry guys, wish i could contribute more, but, have a little virus, and some of Jilla's brain freeze, and (lol) I'm not quite sure where I was last, so have no clue where I am now, in Moya. :) Help!)
Raven-Kat -- “Isn’t it funny....”
Rae asks D'Argo as they hurry towards Command, "how things never work out in real life like they do in your head?"
"I've noticed that." D'Argo agrees.
Rae sighs. "It would HELP if people would do as they're told once in a while."
The two hurry on in silence until they enter Command. Two familiar faces await them.
"GUYS!" Rae shouts happily, catching Ragnar and Crais in a giant group hug. Both men look horrified.
"Let GO, Colonel!" Crais demands.
"YEAH, Rae." Ragnar adds. "Come ON..."
"Okay." Laughing, Rae lets go of the guys and explains their predicament to them.
"So, what's the plan?" Ragnar asks.
SunAeryn -- “Move!”
the ugly space buggies yelled at Sun, who was still on the floor from twisting her ankle. KaraS was trying to help her up, but finding it hard. Their hands were still tied. Little did Kara or Rygel know, Aeryn had dropped her knife. Sun noticed it and used it to cut the ropes on her hands. When Kara bent to help Sun, she cut the ropes on Kara.
"Where the yotz is..."Rygel started, but Sun hopped up and clamped Rygel's mouth shut.
"Do you want to live to eat later today?" Sun whispered, while grabbing Rygel's earbrow. Rygel shook his head affirmativly.
"Good, say nothing about Aeryn being missing. Rae has a plan to stop these bugs and if you don't screw it up, it will work." Sun added with an extra twist of his earbrow. Rygel just looked at Sun.
"Don't even think about it Slug monkey." Sun told him
"What?" Rygel asked
"Biting me. Aeryn may have been nice about you biting her....but I won't be. I'll pantac jab you into the last cycle." Sun threated
The bugs were rather stupid, they didn't notice that the ropes on Sun, Kara and Rygel were missing. Kara had the can of spray, primed and ready. All they needed was the word from Rae. Sun kept looking for a weak spot in the bugs.
"Man, I wish Rae would make her move. We're getting closer to the dock." Sun mumbled.
Mouse2000 -- Chryse, John, Mouse, Viridian, Zhaan,
Kaybe, IQ, Drumheller, Spyral and the rest all headed towards the mess hall again with about 10 gallons of the sticky purple stuff Zhaan had whipped up riding beside them on DRD's. As they moved, they kept in touch with Pilot, who informed Rae where they were headed. While they were in Zhaan's lab, Mouse took advantage, and with Zhaan's explanations, she cooked up some powerful bug spray. They took that with them also, and now it was all sitting in the mess hall, waiting to be used. Mouse had Viridian draw up a bunch of full-face respirators, which took a bit of time, because the detail was intricate, and necessary. Finally, all the respirators on the humans were fit-tested and shown to be sealing correctly, and Mouse contacted Rae through Pilot with the all-ready signal.
Rae reported back that the bugs were heading toward the dock, with SunAeryn, Kara, and Rygel with them. John mentioned that he though he could get the group there faster than the bugs, and set up an ambush. Rae and Aeryn agreed to give it a try and the group was on the move again, with their equipment on DRD's beside them again.
Raven-Kat -- Rae’s group hurries
towards the docking bay, Rae giving final instructions to Pilot as they went. Ragnar noticed that as she got more excited, her speech began to sound less and less like English, despite the valant efforts of the translator microbes to keep up. "Do you have all that, Pilot?" Rae asks finally after rammbling on for what seems like hours in Sebacian.
"Of course." Pilot sounds midly offended.
"Okay. Great. Give me ship-wide comm again."
"Done." Pilot says.
"Thankyou. Alien invaders," Rae begins in her most polished Sebacian (which she thinks sounds far better than any Earth language, especially given her level of fluency), "As you have disregarded my generous offer, you will shortly experience the worst kind of punishment possible."
"Colonel..." Crais sighs. "Must you always ANNOUNCE your intentions to the world?"
Without stopping, Rae does something that comes quite naturally to most PeaceKeepers. She hits Crais in the stomach and then steps around him as though he weren't even there. She resumes her address as Crais picks himself up off of the floor. "Having incured our wrath, you must, of course, now brave our displeasure. May you find your place in the after-life." Rae clicks off her badge. "Pilot, move everybody into position."
"Crichton and his group are already concealed on the bay." Pilot announces.
"Wonderful." Rae comes to a halt and gestures to a small access shaft. As the group begins crawling through, she continues. "Once the bugs are in, seal the bay. No one comes out unless it is by my order, or that of my second if I should perish."
"Your second?" Pilot asks.
"Uh, yeah. Ragnar."
"Ragnar?" Crais demands.
"Shut your mouth." Rae suggests. "Rag? You handle that?"
Ragnar nods.
"Great." Rae grins. "Pilot, after rag, we move down the Chain of command. Crais, Sun, Sunny. Understood?"
"Yes."
"Okay." The group comes to a hatch. "Here we are, guys. This leads into the bay. Once we're in, we can surround the bugs, free our people, ya ya ya. Crais, you and Ragnar hang back unless we need you."
"As you order." Crais smiles ironicly.
"Mouse, can you hear me?"
"Yeah, rae. We're in place."
"Great. I want you, Vi, Chianna and Zhann to wait in hiding until you get my signal."
"Rae-" Mouse protests.
"Mouse, you're in my territory now. I wouldn't tell you how to do chemistry. Please don't argue strategy with me. We need a decent reserve force. PLEASE actually do as I ask this time."
"Fine." Mouse says. "We'll do it."
"Great. May you find your place in the after-life."
"Why do you keep saying that?" Ragnar demands. "I thought Sebacians weren't religious."
"PeaceKeepers today believe they have moved beyond the need for the old way of doing things." Rae says softly.
Aeryn adds. "Others maintain those old ways in secret, obviously."
"We were a better people once." Rae says gently. "We can be again."
"Don't start THAT again!" Crais moans.
"Rae!" Pilot hisses over the comm. "I hate to interupt your theological debate, but they are coming."
"Good." Rae quickly springs the hatch. "Here goes nothing..."
The two groups watch in silence as the bugs enter the bay with their prisoners.
Kaybe0 -- Waiting, in silence
Kay is determined, and very very glad that they are armed with bug sprays. She hopes no one notices as she shivers. She hates bugs, with a passion. The thought of actually being kept captive by these bug creatures, just made her more determined than ever that they must get them all. As she hears that everyone is in place, she braces her shoulders, and looking at her friends, she lets out a deep breath. Well, it's all, or nothing. Here goes.
KaraS -- Chrichton’s group had...
laid traps for the invading bug aliens. Viridian's nets were in place, hung in the hangar above the alien's ship. Mouse's bug spray was in tubs hooked up to pumps, ready to douse the invaders. Zhaan's purple paint compound was in buckets hung above the door to the hangar bay.
Now everything was in readiness. All they were waiting for was Raven_Kat's order. And, of course, for the alien bugs and their prisoners to arrive.
Too bad the prisoners didn't know that their deliverance was at hand.
"Stop pushing me!" Rygel demanded. "I am a dominar."
"We know thiszz." the alien squad leader said. "You keep saying that. We are not deaf."
"No," Rygel said. "You're just stupid. You may hear me but you don't understand me. If you knew what being a Dominar means you would not dare to treat me this way."
"Shut up and move." the squad leader ordered.
"Why doesn't he shut up?" KaraS asked SunAeryn. "These guys are angry enough."
"Shhh." SunAeryn advised. "We're almost at the hangar bay. If Rae is going to attempt a rescue it's got to be soon."
"She made that announcement a while ago. What's she waiting for?"
"I don't know." Sunny replied. "But I think that..."
"SILENCE!" the alien squad leader demanded. "We are at the door to the landing bay. You prisoners will go out first."
The alien jerked open the door and shoved SunAeryn out. She stumbled through it. Above her head, the bucket of purple paint-like-stuff began to tip...
SunAeryn -- “Now? You repay me now?”
Sun whispered to KaraS as she looked up at the bucket of purple goo. "Move!" a bug yelled as he shoved Sun through the door. Sun ran and the bucket just barely missed her and hit the bug instead. Sun didn't come away unscathed, she was now stuck to the floor. "Dren! Any one got something to get me loose?" Sun yelled.
Raven-Kat -- “Man down!”
Rae yells, cursing to herself. She hadn't seen exactly what had happened, so she has no way of knowing WHY Sun is on the floor calling for help. "This is bad... Zhann!" Rae grabs the Delvian by the shoulder and pulls her across the docking bay, selectively forgetting the fact that there happens to be a battle going on. She shoves Zhann in Sun's direction. "Find what's broke and fix it." she orders.
Turning to face the enemy, Rae realizes that her bottom isn't following her top. "I'M STUCK TO THE FLOOR!" she howls as her knees buckle. Her right hand goes out to keep her from going face-first into the goop. "I'M STUCK TO THE FLOOR!!!" she repeats. "WHAT THE-- I'M FRELLING _GLUED_ TO THE BLOODY FLOOR!!!" Feeling her face go red, she looks up past Zhann, also glued to the floor, though much more calm than Rae. "Kara?" Rae whispers...
KaraS -- “Zzzzzz Zzzzzz” the aliens squad leader
laughed. "So your plan backfires. Now you are easy prey."
He was laughing so hard that he forgot to keep an eye on his other prisoners. So KaraS gave him a good hard shove. He stumbled forward, tripped over SunAeryn and landed face first in the sticky purple goop.
"BOO!! AARRGGHHH!!! BOO!!" Rygel yelled.
The rest of the alien bug soldiers, frightened by their leader's fate, stupidly followed him out into the landing bay and were quickly just as stuck as he was. At least most of them were. Three managed to run around the pool of sticky paint and level their guns at SunAeryn and Rae who were stuck and helpless and at their ambushers who were standing against the wall.
"Do not move. Raise your hands now!" one of them commanded.
"Ok, if you say so." Crichton said. He raised his hands and, incedently, let go of the rope holding more buckets of paint upright. The purple goo splashed all over the remaining soldiers. And also all over SunAeryn and Raven_Kat.
KaraS and Rygel peeked around the door frame.
"Is it safe to come in?" Kara asked.
Raven-Kat -- Rae smiles at Kara
"Yes, by all means, come in. How very RUDE" Rae jerks her hand off of the floor "of me." She grabs onto one knee and starts pulling. "Why the FRELL is this stuff so sticky?" With a great tug, Rae pulls her left foot free and falls on her hema. At least her other foot is free now, too. "Detain them." she orders, grabbing the bug leader. "Bring there pod around."
"You're LETTING THEM GO!?!?" Aeryn demands.
"You want to deal with them?" Rae snarls at her. "I don't think you still have it in you, honestly."
"We CAN'T let them go." Aeryn says. "They'll just return."
"We don't even know what they WANT." Rae points out.
"What have you people DONE to her?" Crais whispers to Ragnar. "She never USED to be that-"
"Reasonable?" Ragnar asks proudly.
"Well?" Rae demands of the lead bug. "What DO you want of us?"
Mouse2000 -- Mouse and Zhaan move quietly around
and un-stick the Scapers with the purple-stuff dissolver. "Can't make a sticky trap without a solvent." Mouse says out loud. "And Rae," she says grinning, "the stuff is so frellin' sticky because that's what you asked for!"
Rae turns her attention to the bug leader.
Eloise -- Sorry guys *sigh*
Eloise plops down in a comfy looking chair. "Sorry I couldn't help you guys," she says sadly.
She looks at the little painted Moya. The sign still clearly reads '6th's Black Box'.
"I wish I knew what it was," she mutters, "then maybe I could help."
She glances at the squirrels chattering away outside the window. Slowly she gets up and climbs up to the lookout tower. "I need some time to think," she decides.
(Hey good to be back guys! RL has been flashing by so fast lately I could hardly keep up! :o)
Mouse2000 -- Eloise was relaxing
and then it came to her. If the sign said, "6th's black box", why not go and ask 6th about it?
************************************************************
Meanwhile, the bugs seemed to exude some kind of solvent of their own and were rapidly getting un-stuck. Rae, Crais, Ragnar, Sunny and D'argo had weapons trained on the leader and demanded he tell them what he wanted with Moya and with them in particular.
Mouse2000 -- Back in the treehouse,
Beebo and Eloise took off to find 6th. They pounded on 6th's door, and got a breezy, "Come on in!!" from the lady herself.
"Hey 6th. Nice place you got here…" Beebo said, as she took in the Asian décor.
"Thanks! We like it." 6th answered, motioning to the empty crates that held her dogs, who were all out in their run at the moment.
"I have a question for you. Do you know anything about a black box?" Eloise asked.
6th looked at her and wondered out loud, "Well, there was that one spy mission that was called Black Box. Or was that Black Sheep? And the Roswell case was Blue Box… no, that was Blue Book.."
Beebo interjected, "Well, this would be something that the Scoobies know about. A Black Box that would help them get out of a bad situation?"
"Well, there was the box that I made when we went to Mexico. That would bring the person who pushed the button to wherever I was. Does that sound right?" 6th asked.
"That could definitely, possibly, most-likely be it. Where is it?"
"I left it down in the basement, next to the big-screen TV. I hope it's still there." 6th said.
"Well, do you mind if we get it and try to send it through a mural to the guys? Some of them got stuck AGAIN in a painting that Spyral painted and can't get out." Eloise explained.
6th rolled her eyes and said, "Sounds like them. Yeah, go ahead and see if it works. I'll just make another one if I need it again."
Beebo and Eloise rushed out yelling, "Thanks!!" and headed to the basement.
Raven-Kat -- On Moya
the bugs, in a sticky spot, had actually agreed to a negotiation. Rae sat back and observed with Crais as IMPARTIAL observers.
"It's funny. I think both sides think the other side wants them to surrender." Rae whispers to Crais.
"Should we tell them?"
"Dunno..." Rae considers it for a moment, then shruggs. "They'll work it out."
"They always do."
"Was that RESPECT I heard?" Rae grins. "Looks like I'm not the only one to change."
"What are you two whispering about?" Mouse asks nervously.
"Old times." Rae smiles. "Care to join us?"
"Uh, NO." Mouse retreats.
"I don't think your friends like me."
Rae shrugs. "Scared frot-less of you more likely."
"Ah. I miss that..."
"Yeah..."
Finally, at the bargaining table, John and the lead bug both stand up and shake. John sits back down and whipes his hand on his pants.
"So, we have an agreement?" Rae asks.
"Yeah." John nods.
"Great. Then let's escort these guys back to their ship. I'm starved, and it's been YEARS since I've had real razlac."
Mouse2000 -- Eloise and Beebo
Rushed back to the treehouse carrying 6th's black box. They had stopped at 6th's room and confirmed with her that it was still working, and then headed for the treehouse. Once there, they tried to align the box with the window that had the banner, but it didn't seem to work. Dejected, Beebo examined the box, leaned against the mural by mistake, and was pulled in, holding the box.
***********************************************************
Back on Moya,
John, Chiana and Aeryn were getting out the food for the well-deserved feast to celebrate the leaving of the big bugs, while D'Argo, Zhaan, Rygel, and the Scapers were discussing Moya. Finally the Scapers got some better answers to their "translator microbes" questions and also got a tour of Moya, led by Rae and Crais. Crais was turning out to be not such a bad guy, but most of the Scapers were still cautious of him. Rae was happily drinking her raslac when Pilot said over the coms, "Excuse me, but it seems we have another visitor on board. The lifeform appears to be what you...humans...are."
Rae asked, "Pilot, where exactly is this human?"
Pilot replied, "In the hangar."
"We're on our way." Confirmed Zhaan.
The Scapers and the crew headed back toward the hanger stopping to get their weapons ready. "Rae, really necessary?" Mouse asked. "After all, it IS a human…"
"You never know!" Rae replied with a grin.
The group came upon the Hanger and spied a disoriented Beebo, clutching the black box. Viridian and Mouse ran to her yelling, "You saw the banner!!"
"Is this……really…..Moya?" Beebo asked, stunned.
"In the flesh, uh , biomechanoid flesh, that is," Rae answered and gave Beebo a big hug.
Crais pointed to the black box and said, "What the frell is that?"
Raven-Kat -- “That, my good Captain,”
Rae says happily. "Is a one-way ticket home."
"HOME?" Crais demands.
"Their home. My duty station." Rae clarifies. "You could come."
"WHAT?" About ten voices shout.
"I think not." Crais says. "It's been lovely, but I really should be going."
"Yeah, until we meet again, then."
Crais returns to his ship.
"That was wierd." John says.
Rae shrugs. "Could have been worse."
"We can use that thing to go home?" Kara asks. "Just like that?"
"Easiest thing in the world." Rae assures her. "One at a time. Line forms to the left. I'll go last."
Rae makes her good-byes to Pilot as the others get ready to leave.
"Hang on." Aeryn says.
"Yes?"
"You can bring Crichton home?"
Everyone stops dead. Not one of them had really considered that...
KaraS -- “I don’t think so”
KaraS sighed. "Not that we wouldn't love to have you. But I think we're from different dimensions."
Everybody turned to look at her.
"Well." Kara said. "Think! Did we loose an astronaut through a wormhole in OUR Earth?"
Everybody looked at eachother.
"I mean, it would be very similar. It would be just like his Earth. But without his family and loved ones in it. He'd stand a better chance of getting back to his Earth from here. But he could come. It IS Earth."
Everybody looked at Crichton.
"Well..." Crichton said....
Raven-Kat -- “Well,”
Crichton says slowly. "I don't know. The longer I'm up here, the more I enjoy it. Besides..." he gives Aeryn a little squeeze.
Money changes hands, and "I told you so's" are heard from the shippers in the group. Aeryn is smiling radiantly.
"Well, as long as that's settled." Rae says. "Good luck to you all."
"What about you?" Pilot asks.
"Huh?"
"You could stay."
"No way!" Rygel shouts. "I am NOT accepting ANOTHER peacekeeper in this crew!"
Rae smiles. "And I would rather not have to share my living space with a Hynerian. Sorry, Pilot." Rae gives Pilot a quick kiss and gets ready to leave.
"Goodbye, Colonel."
"Goodbye, Pilot." Rae clutches the black box and hits the button. *Gee, I hope this thing's working...*
Kaybe0 -- Eloise watches in wonder
as one by one, the Scoobies say goodbye to the crew on Moya and push the button, plopping back through the picture and onto the treehouse floor. "Gee, it's good to be home again". said Kaybe looking around the lovely treehouse. Grinning at the amazed look on Eloise's face, they fill her in as best as they can, before going to clean up. Looking up at the mural, Kay muses "Maybe Spyrel should redo that, and make it ....well, a little safer?" But, then again, What an adventure!
