Stuck at the airport
Stuck at the airport (1)
SunAeryn -- “What the Frell?!?”

Sun said as she picked up the phone in her room. It was dead. Someone had hung up the phone! Sunny couldn't hear when she was upstairs. It is always quieter in her room....way down in the depths of the catacombs of the Mansion. "Frell, frell, frell it all!" Sunny said as she marched back upstairs.
Manhiem was still happening upstairs...Sunny saw Rae on the phone.....wondered if Rae knew that Spy was stuck at the airport. Rae hung up before Sunny could get to her.
"THAT'S IT!" Sunny screamed.
"EVERYONE CLEAR THE FLOOR! EVERYONE CLEAR THE FLOOR!" Sunny shouted. People stopped moving...and stared at Sunny.
"Sunnyone, what gives?" Ragnar asked, arms wrapped around to curvatious cheerleaders, grinning.
Sunny sucked in a deep breath, so she wouldn't go totally off on everyone.
"What's the matter with you people!?" Sunny asked...walking towards the bulletin board that held all the names and cell phone numbers for all the Scoobs.
"Sun, what's up?" Rae asked
"Spy called, he's stuck at the airport." Sun finished, as she scanned the list, for Spy's cell number.
"I know...I just talked to him. He mentioned something about needing me to bring a couple of people with him." Rae offered...pointing at Spy's number.
"Good, let's go." Sunny said after she jotted down the number. She grabbed Rae, detatched the cheerleaders from Ragnar.
"Let's go VikingPimpDaddy, we've got to go pick up Spy. Tell your little cheerleader friends to go home. Besides, weren't you told not to bring them here again?" Sunny asked, looking at the now sad Ragnar.

Sunny, Rae and Ragnar got into a vehicle and headed to the airport. Sunny dialed Spy's cell
*one ringydingy, two ringydingys, three ringydingys*
"Yeah" croaked Spy
"Spy, you ok?" Sunny asked
"Sure, fine...nothing a little painkiller won't take care of." Spy answered as he thought *and being able to rewind what just happened and delete it* Spy was hoping that Laeryn didn't 'see' what just happened. Chances were, she 'saw' it.
"Spy, stay with me here. Rae, Rag, and I are on our way to come get you." Sunny told him
"Don't move!" she added
"I couldn't if I wanted to." Spy added...he had hurt his wing and several other body parts in the smack and fall.

Raven-Kat -- “What’s going on?”

Rae demanded of Sun as she hung up. "Everything okay?" She paused. "No, dumb question... What's going on? Better."

"Sounded like an explosion." Raegun contributed.

"I didn't hear anything." Ragnar said.

"I did." Rae and Sunny said together. Rae leaned over and whispered something to Sunny that made both women snicker.

Composing herself, Rae asked. "So he's okay?"

"He says so." Sunny sounded dubious.

"Right, then!" Rae climbed into the back seat, over Ragnar "hi..." and into the cargo area of the car. She began throwing things over her shoulder and into the back seat.

"Hey! Watch it!" Ragnar snapped as he was almost hit in the head by a flying pulse-rifle. A med-kit followed the rifle, Rae's idea of a joke, no doubt.

"We're here." Sunny announced as they pulled into an enormous parking-lot. The scene was chaotic

kayde -- What’s going on?

Kay asked IQ when she saw Sunny, Rae, and Ragnar dash off.
"I don't know," he replied to her, I guess Spy called from the airport for a ride, and I heard Rae muttering something about an explosion. "What?!" yelled Kay, Jilla, and Mouse, all at once. "An explosion? Why didn't they tell us?" asked Jila. "Is Spyral okay?" asked Mouse, forgetting her irritation from a moment ago, at the deafening noise that caused her to take Mouseling out of her crib and down the hall to the farscape daycare so she could sleep peacefully.
"I have a bad feeling about this," said IQ. "Maybe we should head up there?" So, four more Scoobs headed in the mansion Cherokee towards the airport to see if they could help.

SeventhAngel -- Spyral sat on the floor

"Okay, well, this is......not good!," the angel said out loud.

The entire airport was a disaster. People running and screaming. Falling and tumbling. Screaming and falling. Running and tumbling. (You get the idea, it was MASS HYSTERIA, okay?)

The temperature felt like something out of the hottest, dankest jungle and the air was filled with so much static electricity, that the angels single downly wing was actually crackling with every movement he made. Which wasn't much, considering the amount of pain that he was in.

He could take alot of punishment, this angel, but considering that in his crashing, he had taken out two rows of bench seats, and left a considerable dent in the wall, there were lots of times, when he had felt better.

He looked up toward the gaping hole in the air, and the void that lay beyond it. It pulsed, as if with a life of its own, millions of colors dancing across it in sickening patterns.

*It looks kind of like a black hole* the angel thought. *But it's definitely a portal of some kind. The question is, what came thru it?*

He had missed that part, unfortunately, being dazed after the actual opening of the damned thing. But he HAD been aware enough to hear the scream of the blind girl that had been in the adjacent waiting area. Screams, as if she had been taken by ...... whatever had come thru.

The angel struggled to his feet. Stepping lightly, he approached the portal with caution. Reaching into his wing, he pulled out a pair of hyperuzis. Jacking back the slides, he came to a halt in front of the hole in the air. It crackled, loudly, with energy.

*Okay, so who's your daddy?* the angel thought.

A low hum sounded just then. The hackles on the angels neck stood straight out.

"Dren!" he barely got out, as he quickly tried to raise the hyperuzis and fire. For he knew what was going to happen just before it did, but he was too late. Something large and metallic landed against his chest, sending him flying back once more, and his twin hyperuzis skittering in two different directions.

Raising up his head, the angel witnessed a large mechanical arm, retract back into the portal, just before he saw a large mechanical leg enter his world, and smash down onto the tile floor of the airport.

Raegun -- “I hate airports.”

Raegun mutters as Sun, Rae, and Ragnar run across the parking lot. "Do you remember that time you put me in your carry-on and I ended up in Cancun?"

"Yeah, and you weren't even self-aware to enjoy it yet." Rae pants as she runs. "What happened? What caused the explosion?"

"A massive energy discharge."

"Can generally be considered the cause of most explosions!" Rae yells. "I need specifics." She stops dead as an ominous noise fills the air: concrete and steel straining and breaking under an enormous weight.

"That's no bomb." Sunny mutters.

"I frellin' hate airports..." Rae breaths, raising Raegun to shoulder level. "Raegun..."

"Um, there's a... ah... there's a portal of some sort in one of the passenger lounges."

"Do you detect Spy's energy signature?"

"Weak, but definitely present. In close proximity to the portal." Raegun says softly. "I think he's hurt."

"Drenn..." Rae and Sunny mutter together.

"Let's get in there." Ragnar suggests. "Quickly, please."

The group starts into the large main lobby of the airport. Heavily armed, Rae is setting off metal detectors from ten feet away. As Ragnar continues forward, Rae and Sunny stop dead, arrested by a wall of heat.

"This is not going to be fun." Sunny mutters to Rae.

"We can do this." Rae says. "In and out."

"No hostages, no mercy." Sun agrees.

"Or something." Raegun adds softly.

"How hot is it?" Rae asks. "How long do we have?"

"Twenty minutes, maybe a little longer. You won't be comfortable."

"Atmosphere suits?" Sunny asks.

"At the mansion." Rae sighs.

"Guys?" Ragnar turns around to regard them. "What's up?"

"Nothing." the three say together.

"In we go, then." Rae whispers.

Mouse2000 -- Approaching the airport

Kay, Jila, IQ, and Mouse were all quiet, each lost in thought, wondering what could be going on. As they pulled up into the short-term parking, what felt like a small earthquake rocked the car.

"Did you all feel that?" Mouse asked.

"Yup, but I can't believe it." Kaybe said, confused. "An earthquake? Here?"

As the four got out of the car and headed toward the domestic terminal, a sound like a freight train combined with a dinosaur roar came out of the terminal.

"That can't be good..." IQ muttered.

Jila said, "We should try to get the others on the comms." She picked up her comm and spoke into it. "Rae? Sunny? Rag? Anyone hear us?? Where are you?"

RagnarRB -- The noise was deafening

and the growing heat was cause for more sweat than he liked.

It was bit of a madhouse to say the least. Pushing and shoving, shoving and pushing. A time or two he was actually taking three steps back for every two he went foreward. What ever was up had spooked these people something good.

Sirens and alarms were going off but noone seemed to be interested in stopping three lunitics, with not enough common sense to run away ,from running foreward.

After what seemed like an hour long stretch they finally made the ground floor lobby. Judging by the sound Spyral was deffinately in that direction.

Sunny and Rae were already struggling with the heat, Perhaps twenty minutes tops was a bit optimistic.

Ragnar rounded a kiosk and got his first good look.

The word that escaped was one he very seldom used...

Lurkingghost -- ‘Ghost enters with a soft “pop”

and appears right in front of Rea.

"Drenn, 'Ghost, don't do that!!"

"Sorry. I just heard. Sorry I'm late. What's going on? Are you ok? You don't look so good."

"'Ghost, if you don't shut up right now, I'll shoot you."

'Ghost nods, and quickly runs through Rea. Suddenly Rea is quite chilled.

SeventhAngel -- >CRAAASSHHH!<

The angel was jolted awake by the sounds of a freight train going of the Empire State building. His body shook with the impact, as the sound penetrated thru his already deafened ears and seemed to rattle his very bones. Each impact was impact was actually causing his body to bounce an inch or two off the floor. This did nothing good to quell the pain he felt.

Another impact sounded. Then another, in an almost stomping fashion.

">RRRAAAAACCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHH!<" came a loud mechanical roar.

The angel managed to raise his head and look up and his mouth fell open, slack jawed, at the large metallic monstrosity that stopped just in front of him, and seemed to hover over him. It must have stood at least 20 feet tall. Made of a gleaming metal, it looked like something out of a child's 'Erector Set Nightmare'. At least a dozen different appendages covered its upper body, including a very large and dangerous looking one that seemed to be attatched directly to its back. Small red beams of light seemed to be emanating from another half dozen places on its body, which seemed to sweep the area, as if scanning it. The beast did not seem to have a head, as it were.

"yep , it figures," he moaned. "it just couldn't be anything small and weak, could it?" he asked nobody in particular.

At the sound of his voice, three of the red beams swept forward, sweeping crazily across the angels body. A high-pitched wail now began to emanate from the beast, as if in alarm, and one of the appendages seemed to focus on the prone angel.

"Well, THIS can't be good," Spyral muttered.

Mustering all of his remaining strength, the angel rolled out the way as a plasma burst erupted from the appendage and impacted on the tile floor of the airport. Concrete spattered everywhere and choking dust filled the air. The emergy beams continued to sweep the area, as if searching for what little might remain of the angel.

Another screech filled the air, from behind the metallic monster, and glancing back in the cirection of the portal,yet something else seemed to be emerging from it.

"DREN" the angel muttered from his place under yet another row of benches. "WHERE THE FRELL IS EVERYONE?!"

Raven-Kat -- Where the frell is everyone?

Why, the gift-shop, of course :)

Rae stares around the deserted gift-shop desperately.

"Rae, you can pick up a sovenier later!" Sunny hisses at her.

"Restaurant!" Rae yells suddenly, darting past Sunny.

"You're HUNGRY?" Sunny demands. "What the FRELL?"

"Ice-cream!" Rae replies, panting (we can't sweat, so we pant). Sure enough, she finds a freezer full of pre-packaged ice-cream bars. She helps herself to several, shoving them into her bag where she knows they will not melt (due to the magic).

"Rae, what the..." Sunny nearly chokes as Rae uses the opportunity presented by her opened mouth to shove an ice-cream bar down her throat.

Slurping down one herself, Rae squares her shoulders and heads in the direction of the noise, holding Raegun at ready. "You're not going to pick now to go all pacifist on me, are you, love?"

Raegun says in a gentle voice. "Rae, I have NEVER felt less pacific than I feel at this moment in time."

Raegun -- {.... The General Sun Tzu

says: those skilled in warfare move the enemy, and are not moved by the enemy...}

Rae advanced cautiously as the monster hovered over Spyral, ready to strike again. The others were approaching silently from another angle.

She picked up a piece of rubble and threw it at the the creature's head. The rock bounced off but drew blood (or something). It turned with an angry roar. Pieces of the floor near Rae disintigrated under the power of the red death-beam. Sweating and unarmed, Rae stood her ground in the middle of the deserted lobby.

{...Making the enemy approach on his own accord is a matter of showing him advantage; stopping him from approaching is a matter of showing him harm...}

Unnoticed, Sunny darted into the lobby and began dragging Spyral to cover. Raegun, slung over Sunny's shoulder, watched Rae nervously as she stood, vulnerable.

{...Force is the control of the balance of power in accordance with advantage... to subjigate the enemy without doing battle is the highest excellence...}

As Rae began to edge backwards and Sunny and Spyral disappeared from view, Ragnar laid down the explosive charges she had provided. Hopefully, these would destroy the portal. Hopefully, they would not take the airport with it.

{distress the enemy...if the enemy is settled, be able to move him...}

The monster moved forward as Rae slid backwards.

{...defend where the enemy can not attack...}

Rae moved cautiously into a small office adjoining the lobby. The monster, too big to use the door, began pounding at the wall. Rae threw a chair through the window, breaking it. A two-story drop was preferable to what would happen if she stayed put. She leaned out and saw Sunny and Ragnar carrying Spyral to safety. Other Scoobs had begun to gather as well.

{...therefore, a wise General chooses his own ground...}

Rae dove out of the window, hitting the ground in a roll as the monster broke through the wall and into the office. She pelted towards the car, yelling at everyone to get in and drive away.

"Move!" she yelled, diving into the back seat with Sunny and Spyral.

"What, run away?" Sunny demanded.

"Strategic retreat." Rae corrected, making a quick head-count. "Time to consolidate our forces, heal our wounded, and choose our ground."

"They'll think we're afraid of them!" Sunny protested.

"Warfare is the way of deception." Raegun quoted softly as Rae reclaimed him from Sunny. "A wise general-"

"Shove it!" Sunny snapped, but allowed Ragnar to return them to the mansion anyway. The monster didn't follow.

"He's fortifying." Raegun said. "Consolidating his position."

"There'll be more." Sunny said.

"Not when those bombs go off." Rae muttered grimly.

Kaybe0 -- Weak with his injury

Spyral didn't make any protest at his rescue. He was so relieved to have a reprieve from that things attack it took the trip back to the mansion for him to recover enough to think clearly.

"Why did you come back early Angel?" Rae asked him. "Early?" he was puzzled. "I wasn't early. I told you I would be back today. "No you didn't", said Sunny. "I remember telling you on the voice mail that I would be back.
"I think I know what happened" Raegun said matter of factly.
Kitten was playing the other day, and pulled the chord loose. She talked a drd into plugging it back up. Must have erased the message."

As they help Spyral into the house and onto the couch, suddenly he gasps and tries to pull away. "No! We must go back! Now!" "Sit down man, and rest." said Ragnar, think the angel was delusional. "No, the girl. It took the girl." said Spyral weakly. "What girl?"asked Kay. "The blind girl." "Blind girl, Spy?" asked Mouse. Jila tried to push him back down onto the couch and cover him with a blanket. "No, there was a girl, and the hole took her." he said almost desperately.

Raven-Kat -- “Relax, Spy.”

Rae ordered, pushing him back into a prone position. "We have time."

"No. No, we have to hurry..." Spyral shook his head. "Rae, we have to move, quickly, before whatever took her hurts her."

"We have time." Rae repeated.

"But..."

"She's right." Raegun said.

"Trust him to take her side." someone muttered.

Raegun ignored this. "If they wanted to... hurt this girl, they could have done it without taking her. They could have destroyed the airport and everyone in it. They didn't. They just took the girl."

"But why?" Ragnar asked. "Rae?"

Rae shook her head. "I'm not sure."

"I know." Raegun whispered. "Therefore, a wise general will seek to feed off the enemy."

"The Art of War." Rae said softly. "Sun Tzu." No one was listening.

"That poor girl..." Jila whispered to Kay.

"They're going to... what, FEED off of her?" Ragnar made a dsigusted face.

"We must have her back." Rae announced, rising swiftly. "I'm going to the armory."

"We don't have an armory." Mouse protests. "Oh..." she said as Sunny and Rae stare at her.

"Someone turn on the TV." Rae says.

Sure enough, all of the major channels are covering what they are calling 'an earthquake of staggering power and amazingly limited range'. Of course, none of them can get close enough to find out what's really going on, which is just as well for them.

"This isn't good enough." Sunny sighs in disgust. "To plan our strategy, we need to know what's going on INSIDE."

"Yes we do." Rae agrees. She turns slowly to Ghost. "You can help us out there, can't you?"

SeventhAngel -- “Care for a recon ‘Ghost?”

Ghost nodded in acknowledgement to Rae. "I think I can manage to slip in unnoticed," she said, as she quickly became translucent, then reappeared a few seconds later.

"You oughta be safe in there," Spyral said to Ghost. "Probably the only one of us that could do it."

"Someone needs to go with her," Rae said.

"I'm on it," Spyral said, starting to raise up from the couch.

"OHNOYOUDON'T!" Jila said, shoving the angel back down onto the couch. "YOU are in NO condition to go back there yet."

"Never underestimate the healing power of the Divine and Immortal," the angel said, trying to raise up again.

He was once again shoved back down into the cushions, this time by Ragnar. "Never underestimate the powers of an angry viking to counter the healing powers of the Divine and Immortal. You won't do anyone any good unless you heal. I'll go with her!"

Spyral finally nodded in agreement. "Fine, But I don't have to like it!" he said to the viking.

"Take the Hummer," Rae said, tossing the viking the keys. "IQ just upgraded the armor and the stealth capabilities on it."

"Let's go!" Ragnar said to Ghost. They headed for the Mansion garage.

Spyral looked after them with longing. The angel usually had uncommon patience, but he had reached his limit. He didn't like taking a beating like the one he had been given. He hated being dragged away from one even less. Though he knew that he did indeed need at least an hour or so to recover. And then. It was gonna be "Open Season!"

"We seem to have a little breathing space anyway, Angel" Mouse said. "It doesn't look like that thing is in any hurry to leave the airport."

"Isn't that odd that it hasn't busted out of there yet?" Sunny asked. "I mean, What could it want with the airport?"

Raven-Kat -- “Convenient staging ground”

Rae said with a shrug. She eyes Sunny. "Isn't that what we do? Establish, dig in, THEN fight. Without an HQ, there's nowhere to send out teams from, and nowhere to fall back to once you've taken those first losses."

"The National Guard has surrounded the airport." Mouse reports, looking up from the TV.

Rae gets up and walks up to the TV, staring at the men unloading supplies from old, black-and-white trucks. "Looks like those military budget cuts really hit hard. That looks like the rocket-launcher from 'the day the earth stood still'. And those tanks." Rae shakes her head in disgust. "Too bad the military hasn't really played an active role in many recent sci-fi movies."

"It's not a great staging ground." Sunny says softly, disturbing Rae's reflections. "Just out there in the middle of nowhere like that."

"They're not going to be able to do it alone." Rae announces, ignoring her.

"What?" several Scoobs ask at once.

"They're not going to be able to do it alone." Rae repeats. She picks up Raegun and stalks out of the room.

"She's not going after them?" Mouse whispers, horrified.

Jila shakes her head. "Looks like she's going up to her room."

Raegun -- Rae stands alone in the dark.

in a small room off of her bedroom. Not even the DRDs know of the existence of this room. Every Peacekeeper in Rae's profession has such a room. Only a retinal scan plus a voice command (in code) from the operative can open it. Booby-traps ensure its security. Communications equipment lines the walls. Except for periodic transmissions to Command indicating that she is in fact alive, Rae has never had cause to use this room.

"Raegun..." Rae mutters.

Raegun sits on a table, muttering nervously to himself. "You know where I stand on this, Rae."

"They need help." Rae says. "The species is not powerful enough. They can't do this alone."

"A Sebacian presence on Earth would be devestating." Raegun says insistantly. "And that assumes that the Peacekeepers would expend their resources on such a planet."

"Did you look at the army that was lining up outside that airport?" Rae demands angrily. "It's from those horrible little balck-and-white 1950s horror movies. They don't stand a chance!"

"We don't even know what we're dealing with!"

"I don't care! We only need to know that it's too powerful for them to fight alone!" Rae shakes her head and begins pacing the small room.

"I will never agree to this." Raegun tells her firmly.

"I don't need your consent!"

"Then why did you ask my opinion?"

"Shut the frell up!" Rae orders.

"Rae, at least wait until Ragnar and Ghost return with the report. The Scoobs have dealt with a lot in the past. Maybe they can deal with this, too. Hmm? You're just worried now. Take the time to really think about this. You can always request a military intervention later on..."

Rae nods slowly. "I hate this."

"Me too. Let's go join the others. They'll wonder."

Sighing, Rae picks Raegun up and leaves the small room, carefully resealing it before returning to the living room.

SunAeryn -- Sunny noticed Rae enter the livingroom

She also noticed the somber look on Rae's face.
"Not gonna call 'em just yet, are you?" Sunny whispered
"Hmmm?" Rae turned
"I know where you went. You thought I didn't know." Sun offered.
"What?! How'd you find out?" Rae asked
Sun looked at Rae
"I know a lot more about you than you think I do. Remember...I was with Scarrens for a lot longer than I care to remember." Sun reminded Rae
Rae looked at Sun, noticing the look in her eyes
"Well talk about that later. So, who else knows about it?" Rae asked
"No one...they didn't even see you leave. IF they did, they just thought you were going to your bedroom." Sun offered.
"Good. We need to work out a plan." Rae sighed
"Rae, you can trust me, I won't tell anyone about it." Sun said placing her hand on Rae's arm.
"Frell, I have a room similar....why would I want the other to know about them?" Sun finished
"Right, now let's get to planning our attack." Rae said, moving Sun's hand off her arm
"Right. I should check my stash of fuel and fire power, just to make sure I'll have enough to use my Prowler...if it comes to that." Sun said, heading towards the catacomb door.
"Sunny, are you sure that's a wise idea? Flying your Prowler with all that Military down there?" Rae asked.
"No, last time I did, they all but wigged out....thought I was some kind of 'alien' coming to invade." Sunny chuckled
"But, we may need it....before we call in the 'big guns', Rae. If needed, I could possibly hold that monster at bay, until help arrived." Sun concluded
"Right. Go check, then come back here." Rae instructed
Sun left and went to her room, down in the catacombs.

IQ120 -- IQ had slipped away to his secret.....

...workshop. Inside were various gismos and gadgets he had been working on. IQ walked over to one corner of the workshop were he had been working on something that slightly resembled a washing machine. He felt that this new invention he had been working on would be useful with the upcoming problem, whatever it might be. It still had a few bugs to be worked out with the hydrolics. IQ quickly went to work.

Raven-Kat -- Rae sighs as she waits

for Sunny to return with a weapon's report. She shelves the unexpected intelligence that Sunny is still in communication with the Peacekeepers (wondering briefly if she might also be in communication with the Scarrans, who had a habit of leaving their mark on a person, as Rae well knew) along with a mental note to check it out later.

She walks over to Mouse and Spyral. "How are we?" she asks Spy.

Spyral frowns. "How do you think?"

"Touchy."

"Eager to get back to the airport."

Rae bends over, seemingly sympathetic, but whispers, so softly that not even Mouse hears, "I probably don't need to tell you that you don't go ANYWHERE without my okay. Don't frell with me on this, Spy. A lot of people could get hurt."

"A lot of people will get hurt if we continue to do nothing!" Spy snaps. Mouse looks up in surprise.

"No one plans on doing nothing, Spy." Rae says gently. "But sometimes discretion really is the better part of valor." She turns to leave, placing Raegun on the bar. "I'm going to the gym. Keep me briefed on events here, and let Sunny know where she can find me."

"Will do, Rae." Raegun assures her as she fixes a small comm device to his barrel.

"Good." Rae places the receiver in her ear and stalks to the gym. She turns on the news and begins pounding on a heavy punching bag.

Raegun -- Raegun sits on the bar,

keeping 90% of his attention on the whispered conversations taking place all around him. "Are you still considering getting that brain implant?" he asks Rae. No sound comes from him, but through her ear-piece, Rae can hear clearly.

"You bet." Rae grunts, not stopping her workout. "Earpieces fall out and comms get lost. I'd say that IQ is more than up to the job."

"He does appliances, but he might balk at working on an actual person. Especially a Sebacian. It's not as though he's particularly familiar with your phisiology."

"Shut up, Raegun." Rae advises mildly, still pounding the bag. "And remind me to talk to him about it." Rae files that away in her brain too. Picturing a Scarran face on the punching bag, she continues pounding, until she begins to over-heat. Her mind makes a connection. "Raegun?"

"Yes?"

"How much do we know about Scarrans?"

"Other than that we enjoy killing them?"

"Yes, other than that!" Rae snaps. She breaks into a run, heading towards the ballroom. "Aliens, plus powerful weaponry, plus heat..." It was definitely a possibility. "Frell!"

Kaybe0 -- Seeing Angel in distress

over feeling so helpless, Kay went to sit by him. It would do no good to try to get him to forget what was going on. So, maybe talking about it would help. "Tell us about the blind girl Spy. What was she like? What happened between you and her?"

Chryse74 -- Hey guys, what’s up?

Chryse asks as she walks in. the room is full of heavy tension and she is confused by it. Chryse had just gotten back from a brief visit to her homeland and was surprised to see Spyral back at the mansion already.

"Hey Spy. I thought you weren't due back for another couple of days? What's going on?"

JilaCosa -- Full of curiosity from Kay’s questions

Jila sits on the floor in front of the couch. "It would help to know more about this girl Spy. We all know that you don't get this adamant over something trivial, or girls that just happened to say hello at an airport." Noises from the television of cement block walls falling at the airport interrupt Jila's thought process. She turns toward the television and watches the high ranking officials who have been caught strategizing by the media. "There's got to be something really special about her to open a portal to another dimension." As Jila watchs the television she sees way in the back of the picture, at the airport entrance two Very familiar figures who are trying their best to be inconspicuous, Ragnar wearing a long black trench coat and ghost who is Almost but not quite invisible.

*Good Luck, Guys.*

Raven-Kat -- “Oh yeah, that’s inconspicuous.”

Raegun laughs at the TV image of Ragnar in a long, black trenchcoat. "He looks like an extra from The Highlander..."
~~~
Meanwhile, Rae runs down several flights of stairs and into the armory where Sunny is doing an extremely thorough job of inventorying supplies.
"How many thermal suits do we have?" she asks Sunny, carefully announcing her presence first by shuffling her feet against the floor and tapping her fist against the door-frame. No good ever comes from surprising a keyed-up Peacekeeper, or so her mother had been fond of saying.
"Just the two. Why? Any other PK spies hanging around the mansion that I shoudl know about."
Rae ignores her. "Could these be Scarrans, Sunny?"
"Why are you asking me?"
"Spyral's..." Rae hesitates, then talks swiftly, not pausing long enough for Sunny to break in or even protest. "Not quite himself, perhaps. Gods only know what happened to him before we got there, and he IS acting oddly. It might be concern for the girl, (assuming such a creature even exists, it could have been a Scarran trick) but it could be something else. I thought, for just a second there when he didn't want us to return to the mansion that I saw... well, bloodlust in his eyes. Worried me a bit, let's say. Besides, he may be too close to the situation to make an unbiased asessment. I'm not saying anything. Just that you might make a better judge of this sort of thing. So, could it be Scarrans?"
SeventhAngel -- “There was......”
"something .......... different ......... about her," the angel said, speaking of the missing blind girl. "I didn't make too much of a connection before. I'm STILL not sure now, but..........."
"WHAT, ANGEL?!" Mouse asked impatiently.
"I dunno........" Spyral said. "I can't explain it." He looked to the ladies. "When I brushed up against her........ for the first time since I've been back to the mortal plane, I felt power. Not like the stuff that everyone around here has, but REAL power. IMMORTAL power! But she's not from the Beyond. Not like me."
"Then where?" Kay asked.
"Alternate dimension?" Kara threw out a guess.
"Could be ......... " Spyral said, unsure.
"But why would that mechanical monster want her?" Mouse asked.
"I don't think that it was the monster that wanted her," Spyral said. "She was already gone when I came to. That means that either something else came thru first, when I was unconcious, and took her, or she got away. Either way, I get the feeling that she was the target, and I have another feeling that she may not know why. Or even that she's not from around here."
"You think she's like, a refugee of some sort?" Chryse asked. "Maybe a descendant of some other being from an alternate plane?"
"Maybe," Spyral said. "It's not unheard of. Species fleeing from their realms to the safety of another. Escaping persecution, that sort of thing, And on a world like this, powers like hers would not exactly fit in to the scheme of things, y'know?"
"So as time passed, the descendants would most likely, probably forget about the kind of power that they're carrying around," Mouse said. "BOY!" she added with a shiver. "Makes you wonder about the people you're bumping into on the street, huh? How many of them could fry you like an egg, or shove you thru a brick wall without even trying?"
"Scary huh?" Kara asked.
The angel could only nod in agreement, as he stared solemnly at the television screen. On the television, Ragnar tried to seem inconspicuous as he strolled along the lines of soldiers arrayed outside of the airport. You could tell that the waiting was driving the viking crazy, as he waited for word from 'Ghost, who had made herself completely dim and entered the building, which had become all too quiet, all too quickly.
"What's going on?" Artickat asked, walking into the room. "Anything new?"
"Nothi ......." Mouse trailed off as chaos seemed to erupt on television screen.
The soldiers, onlookers, and reporters seemed to all fall to their knees as a piercing, high pitched wail filled the air. Only Ragnar remained standing, one hand mashed over his right ear, the comm in his left ear seeming to aid in keeping out the sound. So loud was it, that even in the depths of the mansion, it could be dimly heard.
"What the hell is that?" Kara asked.
"GUYS!" came Ragnars voice over the comm line. "Somethings getting FRELLED!"
A loud and fast clomping, like that of a heard of hungry great danes, seemed to emanating from the direction of the stairwell leading down into the depths of IQ's lab. Suddenly the door burst open, and IQ came spilling out, causing everyone in the room to spin and look at him. He stopped in front of the crowd, trying to catch his breath and holding something that looked COMPLETELY high tech and unexplainable.
"It's........... It's............... signal..............emanating.................multiple null......." he gasped.
"IQ!" Mouse ran to him, putting an arm around him. "Get a breath, c'mon, slow down."
"Okay....." IQ gasped. "I'm okay now." he said.
"What do you got?" Spyral asked.
"It's emanating a high-frequency signal of IMMENSE magnitude!" IQ said, setting down the device he carried.
"YEAH< I THINK WE GOT THAT PART ALREADY," Chryse said, pointing to the television.
"I picked it up on my signal analyzer here. But its SO powerful, it's almost overloading it!" IQ said. "It's a full burst, inverse, Halcyon waveband pulse of multiple nulls. I've never seem anything like it!" IQ added.
"And jsut WHAT does all tha mean?" Artickat asked.
"Well, it CAN'T be good, WHATEVER it means," Spyral said.
"I believe it's attempting a sensor scan of some sort," IQ said.
"Scanning for what?" Mouse asked.
Kaybe0 -- As the deafening pitch
somewhat died down, or ears became accustomed to it, all of a sudden it was quiet. Not just that the sound was gone. All sound was gone. Like the quiet after the hurricane. No sound came from anywhere. The Scoobs looked at each other, and back at the television screen. Ragnar was looking as confused as they were.
"For some reason this silence doesn't sound good." Jila said in forboding. Just as Mouse opened her mouth to reply, another explosion came from inside the airport. Ragnar was thrown to the ground. And, the impact was so powerful, that it felt like the entire earth shook. The Scoobs at the mansion, deffinately felt the ground around them move. Then, they saw Ragnar looking into the airport with a look of shock on his face, as he started backing up.
Raven-Kat -- “Let’s get there fast.”
Rae suggests, staring at the screen. "Move it, people! Let's MOVE!"
The Scoobs all loaded into a car and two mini-vans and activated the car's rockets as soon as they were out of the drive-way.
Kay drove the car as, in the back seat, Sunny and Rae changed into their enviornmental suits. No one else was in the car, which was just as well, since it was quite small to begin with, and rendered smaller by the two women in the back seat trying to get dressed.
"Hey, watch it!"
"Be more carefull!"
"That's my EYE!"
"We're almost there." Kay announced gratefully.
"Great." Rae picked up her helmet and check it for cracks, as she outlined her plan for Sunny. It never ceased to amaze her how shoddy some of the material that Command used in these things was. Always breaking at the most inconvenient moments...
"'Kay." Sunny said, activating her comm. "Rae and I go first--"
"Why?" Spyral protested.
"Because our enviornmental suits double as haz-mat suits." Rae snapped. "Among other things. Gods only know what kind of germs are floating around in that place. Microbes, viruses... parasites."
Sunny snapped her comm off and said to Rae in a whisper that Kay wouldn't be able to hear. "Isn't it a little late to be worrying about that kind of thing? I mean, if you want to play the irreversable contamintation card..."
"I have my reasons for wanting us to go in first." Rae replied. "I want US to know exactly what we're dealing with before we endanger the others." She turned her comm on. "Who's got the portable TV? What's going on out there?"
Mouse2000 -- “Spyral, turn around”
Mouse shouts. He gives her a look, but does as she asks, and she rummages through his wing to pull out her own "Level B" suit.
"Didn't know that was in there..." Spyral said, but Mouse just replied, "I hid it in there a while ago. Don't you ever clean that thing out?"
"Lucky for you, no!" he replied back, slightly ticked at her tone. But Mouse was too busy squirming into her suit. She hit the comm.
"Rae, Sunny, no time to argue with me, but I'm coming along. I've had HazMat training and could be valuable to you. So wait up!"
SunAeryn -- “Frell you are.”
Sunny said as she noticed Spyral trying to get out of the car. Sunny pulled back her hand, ready to PanTac jab him if need be.
"Ok, ok, I'll stay here....for now." Spyral surrendered, knowing full well how hard Sunny's PanTac jabs were.
"Good! We may need you later." Sunny says as she shoves some med gear into his wing space.
"That's incase Rae or I get into trouble. Don't lose it or use it on anyone else! Got it?!" Sunny added, shoving Spyral, gently back into the car.
"Mouse, stay BEHIND us." Rae commanded, mumbling under her breath about how as a new mother Mouse really shouldn't be there.
"Ready Sun?" Rae asked looking Sun's way
"Ready as I'll ever be." Sun said out loud, while "thinking" to Rae, *About the Scarrens, I know you think they still have a hold on me....but let me assure you....the only good Scarren is a Frellin' DEAD one!*
Sunny grabbed her pulse rifle, her pulse cannon and headed into the airport. Rae hand to run to catch up.
"Hey, Sun, slow down! You don't want to overheat unnecessarily" Rae cautioned, wondering if Sun was mad about the Scarren comment she had made, in her mind, earlier.
*Man, I got to remember that she can read my thoughts, apparently without thinking about it or realizing it.* Rae thought
*That would be a wise decision, Rae. You are right, I can do it without thinking....and I do realize that I am doing it....and always try to 'turn it off'. But that comment about the Scarrens...well it pissed me off, at first. Then I calmed down and realized that you are worried about the other Scoobs and the rest of the humans on this planet* Sun said as she, Rae and Mouse moved around in the airport, trying to locate the cause of that frellin' high pitched yell or whatever it was.
*For what it's worth, I'm with you on Mouse being here. I would hate for Mousling to go through what I did.* Sun added motioning towards Ragnars semingly lifeless body
"If those frellers hurt him.....I'll....." Sunny and Rae said simultaniously as they headed towards Ragnar.
Raven-Kat -- Rae bends over Ragnar
and commits a breach of protocol that, in a PK unit, would have gotten her shot. She pulls off a glove to feel for a pulse.
"Rae!" Sunny hisses.
"Relax. I'll stay contained in the suit until we're sure I'm clean, but I need to do this!" Rae pulls off her helmet and bends over Rag, listening for breath. "Frell! Mouse, he's not breathing. Talk me through this see-plee-are thing you people have."
"CPR." Mouse says. "You don't know CPR?" she demands, incredulous.
"I know how to give a nerve-shot! That's all I've ever needed."
Sun's voice invades her mind. *Rae, relax. You need to be calm.*
*HOW? HOW? HOW?* Rae demands, causing Sunny to recoil slightly with the intensity of the demand.
*Be calm...* Sun's mental voice is a whisper. *Your friends need you. You don't have another choice.*
Rae locks eyes with Sunny and nods firmly. Time to be what she was trained to be. *Thanks. Now get the frell out of my head!*
*Gladly. It's dark and scary in there.*
*And that's only the surface. Remind me to take you on a tour some time.* Rae grins briefly at the look on Sun's face and returns her attention to Ragnar.
Mouse stares at the two, wondering what she has just missed. She quickly walks Rae through CPR. Ragnar coughs.
"I have a pulse." Rae announces. "What's normal for you people?"
"Sixty, seventy..."
"It's low. Thready..." Rae rolls Ragnar onto his stomach and bends over him. "Can you hear me?" Ragnar doesn't respond. "Frell!"
"We need to get him safely to the mansion." Mouse says.
"We CAN'T!" Rae snarls.
"I beg your frelling pardon." Sunny says, knowing Rae's answer even without being inside her head.
"He could be contaminated. We can't risk contaminating the others. Triage time." Rae rolls up the sleeves of her suit, aware that beads of sweat are dripping down her face. She bends over Ragnar and whispers in his ear. "If you fail on me, I'll bring you back just so I can beat the crap out of you."
Ragnar's eyes flutter open. "Ah, the radiant officer Rae."
"It's Katlyn." Rae reminds him softly, stiffling relieved tears. She draws him into her lap and holds him close. "Not that it matters. How are you?"
"Better. I had this most glorious dream..."
"Later, hmm..." Rae suggests. "What are we going to do with him, Mouse? How do we prevent his from contaminating anyone?"
"It's late for that." Mouse says. "You just gave him CPR, Rae. If he's got anything, the odds are fair that you have it, too."
"All I care about are airborne germs. If it's not airborne, we can contain him as a code pink--"
"Physical contact restricted." Sunny explains to Mouse as Rae continues.
"Orange or blue. I'd rather not do a code black yet."
"Total isolation." Sun provides. "Orange and blue are in-between levels. Black would be a pain to arrange. We'd need special air filters and three-inch walls in his cell. Froonium alloy, of course--"
"Could you ladies stop talking about me as though I'm not there?" Ragnar coughs at them.
"Sorry, baby." Rae mutters, hugging him. "What are we going to do with you?"
"I'm coming with you."
"You can't!" Rae protests. "Look at you!"
"Rae," Ragnar begins reasonably. "If I'm not much mistaken, you've probably got a medical kit somewhere on you right now..."
Rae shakes her head. "I can't..."
"You could fix me up in a second..."
"No... You're not Sebacian... It could..."
"Kill you, you frelling moron!" Sunny snaps at him. "In about five micro-microts."
"Say that five times fast." Rag laughs weakly. "Rae, give me a shot."
"Where's Ghost?" Rae asks.
"Still inside."
"Frell..." Rae unzips her suit (immediately qualifying her for code black isolation) and pulls out a med kit. She zips up before she opens it. "Tell me what hurts."
"Rae..." Mouse says softly. "Are you qualified to preform medical care?"
"Of course I am." Rae smiles reassuringly. *Well, does field-triage on Sebacians count?*
*No.* Sunny replies. *You be carefull.*
*I will.* Rae nods and sorts through the medical kit. She pokes and prods Ragnar carefully. "I think you have some broken ribs. I can't fix that here, but I can take the pain."
"Good deal." Rag grunts.
Rae injects Ragnar with several vials of colorful fluid. The last one glows bright electric-green. Ragnar decides that he has no real desire to know why.
"Get up." Rae mutters to him. "No more time to waste." She helps him to his feet. "How do you feel?"
"Energetic."
Rae smiles and puts her gloves and helmet back on. She taps her comm. "Subject one secure: Team one moving into position. Confirm, over."
Spyral's voice comes over the comm. "Team one, we copy. Subject one secure. Team two awaits your signal. Over."
"We copy, team two. Team three?"
"Team three copies." Kay says. "All clear, over. You have not been noticed... er, compromised. Over."
Rae nods. "Team one confirms. Team two awaits signal, team three reports all clear. Teams are advised to maintain radio contact. Please confirm, over."
"Team two confirms."
"Team three confirms."
"Confirmed. Over." Rae leaves her comm on an open channel. "Raegun, kindly lead us to subject two, keeping us well clear of the enemy for the present."
"Three hundred paces dead north." Raegun begins.
"I knew I should have given Ghost a comm, too..." Rae sighs.
Raegun -- A young soldier
sitting tensely at the perimiter with a small group of recently enlisted airmen sighs. "Man, I did NOT sign on for THIS, I tell you..."
"It could be worse..." Another says. "It could be a war."
"Don't be such a dork!" A third snaps, hitting the second on the back of the head.
"Hey!" The first soldier snaps. "Cut that out!"
The soldier who has just been hit ignores him. His attention is on three figures in bio-hazard suits bent over a fourth figure in a trench-coat. "Did we invite the CDC?"
"No Mendez. Why?"
"Nothing..." Keeping an eye on the group as it enter the airport, he waits until the other members of his unit are distracted and follows them cautiously. *Man, I could get a promotion out of this! Wow!*
