"Hello, miss. How may I help you?" The hospital secratary smiled up at
the young lady standing at the service desk. Her gaze turned to the
boquet of roses held by the girl. "Are you here to visit someone?"

The young lady's mouth turned up into a half-smile; her eyes brightened
for a moment. She had, the secretary noted, remarkable eyes. Their
incredible affect was not wrought so much by their brilliant green 
shade or the thick black lashes, but by the emotion radiating from them;
a heart-wrenching paradox of terrible happiness.
