A digital postcard/electronic postcard/web-card is essentially like a real postcard - a picture you can send to someone with a message, only these are sent over the Internet to someones e-mail. On the digital card you can choose the image, and write the message, and on many web sites they allow you to select the background the music, and the colour of the writing. This digital card is then put at a secure location on the internet and a message with a link to this place is sent to the person's e-mail.

1001 Postcards: This site doesn't have the kind of specific categories as the one above has. Instead its wide range of digital postcards does not only look at the usual birthday, pets, special occasions, good luck get well etc categories, but also has a good deal of images from categories including entertainment (art, comics, cartoons, master artists, movies etc), people and life (sports, work, everyday things) and objects and things (food, nature, places). Good site to go to if you want to send a digital postcard with a picture by a master artist like Matisse, Da Vinci, Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh etc.
