Bring up an transparent image 300 X 300

.

Set your foreground background colors

Foreground=body of the tag

Background=edge color

(light foreground/dark background works best)

.

Using your Selection Tool set to rectangle, make a square

centered in the middle of your image.

With ants still marching,

floodfill your square shape with your foreground color.

Go to Image>Effects>Buttonize

Settings:

(you may adjust with these settings to your liking)

.

Go to Edit>Copy

Edit>Paste as a new selection

(Placing a new square directly on top of the first square)

.

With ants still marching, go to Image/Rotate

Settings:

.

Your image should now look like this:

Deselect

Go to Image>Deformations>Twirl>180 Degrees>OK

*Note*

Increase the twirl degree for a more twirled effect

.

Your twirled shape!

Now you may decorate your twirl as you wish!

Layers>Merge>Merge All (flatten)

Save As>.jpg

.

.
