(you will need Eyecandy to make these and Almathera to make
the addition I've described at the end)
attached: Compacta and Impact fonts
1) File/New
350x350
transparent
I have both foreground and background colors on the
color palette in black for this example
2) Select Text tool pick a wide font like Compacta or Impact
I'm using Compacta
**Kerning - the sample is showing neg50 - you can
adjust this setting to get the effect you want ... kerning adjusts the space
between the letters....negative numbers bring the letters closer together-
normally this is on AUTO**
3) File/Open
find the image you want to fill your text with ...
use the entire thing or select just the part
you want....
Edit/Copy
minimize graphic to get it out of the way
4) New image should now be active and
the text should still be selected-lil ants still running around text....
Edit/Paste/Into Selection
(image should now be inside the letters)
5) Selections/Promote to layer
(ants are now gone)
6) Image/Effects/Inner Bevel
I've used the preset 'Soft Edge' but you can use any settings you like
7) Image/Effects/Drop Shadow
use any settings you like - play around to see what works best
8) Image/Plugins/Eyecandy - Glow
a) choose 'Outline' preset then
you can adjust the width and/or opacity if you want a different effect
b) change color to one you'd like to outline your text with
9) Image/Effects/Drop Shadow
again - if you want to define the letters more (optional)
10) Layers/Layer1
clicking this makes Layer1 active
11) Flood Fill tool -
flood fill layer with black
12) Layers/Merge/Merge All Flatten
13) Selection tool- rectangle
crop away excess
14) resize if wanted (Image/resize)& sharpen (Image/Sharpen)
15) File/Save As - name and select .jpg file type
this is what I came up with.....
to make one with the water effect at the bottom...
after Step 9....using freehand tool.....draw an area from
bottom of text down....Image/Plugins/Almathera - Puddle
then continue with rest of steps....
have some fun with it.......:)
