Links
Here are some links that I like. This list will grow over time, so check back often.
Robotics & Electronics:
- Seattle Robotics Society
I joined the SRS about a year ago, and I can't tell you how great it's been. I probably wouldn't have gotten this far on my own. The (supposedly :) monthly newsletter, the Encoder, is a great resource on robotics information. They also have a good Email list.
- Dallas Personal Robotics Society
I haven't actually been to one of their meetings (I haven't had an excuse to go to Texas for a while). They have a great Email list, and a great links page.
- Newton Labs
I can't think of a better job than building robots and getting paid for it. But thats what they do. And they aren't just any robots, either.
- Karl Lunt's Website
Several free software utilities for the HC11, including the cross-compiler languages TinyForth and SBasic.
- Marvin Green/PARTS
BOTBoard HC11 Single Board Computers.
Programming:
- VB-Helper.com
This is an excellent starting point on the net for Visual Basic. Tons of code examples, and a great list of links.
- The DirectX eXperience
This site has lots of great articles on using DirectX for beginners. Most of the source code is in C/C++.
Software:
- Karl Lunt's SBasic compiler
I use SBasic for all my HC11 programming in Basic. Head to his tips and techniques page for SBasic and other tools he has written.
- ExpressPCB
ExpressPCB is a a PCB layout program. Single- or double-layered, and many premade components. Once you design a board, you can even order some over the Internet, directly from ExpressPCB. Win95
- BIP Electronics Lab
This site provides free software utilities for electronics testing, such as an oscilliscope, frequency counter, sweep generator, etc., all interfaced through the sound card. Win95
- Schematica.com
555 Timer utility that calculates the resistor and capacitor values for a given frequency and duty cycle. Win95.
- Programmers File Editor
PFE-32 is probably the most useful tool I have. Pfe is a souped-up file editor, with special features such as running preset programs from buttons, a built-in DOS prompt, keyboard macros, etc. Well worth a look.
