1. What will your 'domain name' be? * The domain name can be something easy to use: like www.yourusedcars.com. To do this, you register the name. Registration costs $70 for the first two years. You should register your name as soon as possible! Thousands of names are being registered every day, and someone else may be considering your name choice right now. We'll take care of all the paperwork. You'll own the name, not us. * The domain name could be something hard to type: like www.fortunecity.com/skyscaper/image/958 The advantage to this is that you don't have to pay to register the name. When someone searches your name using one of the popular search engines, it won't matter what the domain name is, the user doesn't need to type it in. But if you're going to advertise your site, or put it on a sign at the front of your lot, you'll want something easy to remember. 2. Where will you keep your site? * Rent your own space: we can arrange for space for you. We continually survey the market, and we'll assure you of the best deal, while monitoring the speed of the server's connection. Right now, we're recommending a space that costs $150 the first year, $100 per year afterwards. * Free space: Many free servers are available. They're free because there's a 'banner' ad at the top, over which you have no control. Usually the ad has no connection to the used car industry, but, of course, we can't guarantee what will happen in the future. To add your own domain name to a free space costs $50 the first year, $25 per year afterwards, in addition to the $70 registration fee. 3. What do you want on your site? * Our standard site covers most of the bases: Your logo, picture of your business, inventory (and pictures of your cars!), contact information, guarantee, financing info, sale, and car buying pages, are all included, and only need to have your information plugged in. * Anything special you want included: Customizing your site is not expensive.
