Of Photoshop and Such
In response to this "Darkmage" crap and STEB's statement about
the use of plugins in our images, I would like to say this.
STEB probably doesn't even know what Photoshop or plugins are, and for $900
they probably will never find out.
Fact is, there are four "kinds" of plugins, utility plugins, instant plugins,
style changing plugins, and other plugins. Utility plugins, such as blur and
crystallize, don't really change the image a lot, but only apply a small effect
that is useful for achieving a larger effect eg. the use of "Add Noise" and
"Gaussian Blur" in our new logo. Instant plugins, like fire or perspective
shadow, are effects that provide a solid and effective result, but constantly
produce the same effect. These are often looked upon as cheap or lame. Style
changing plugins are like charcoal or ink outlines that change the entire style
of the image with one plugin. Finally, other plugins refers to things like
offset or video color correction plugins that don't have much practical use
except for certain applications.
In all the images on our web page, I have only used the instant plugins for a few
of the gallery images (mainly because they were created by 2 or 3 people at lunch
time in about 5 minutes each). I think if you were to look at an action recording
of this so called "Darkmage" you would find that it uses at least a few plugins,
even if they are just blur or noise. As for drawing graphics by hand, it is
possible, but that defeats the purpose of Photoshop (you may as well just use paint).
(beginning to be my catch phrase)Once again, we prove you wrong.
