What is Messcleaner?
A small utility to find and eliminate the junk files from your system. Messcleaner acheives this goal by:
- Scanning for dead shortcuts.
- Scanning for duplicate files.
- Cleaning user defined directories on startup or at pre-defined times, with file masks to narrow the scope of files to clean.
- Finding junk files based on their attribute(s), extension(s), size, date, or any combination of these.
How To Install Messcleaner 2.03
Installing For The First Time Or Upgrading From Version 2.02:
Simply unzip the files, of which there are only three: Messcleaner.exe, Messcleaner.hlp, and this Readme.txt file, into a directory of your choice. Create a shortcut (optional) for the program and you are done.
Upgrading From Versions 2.x To 2.02:
- Uninstall the previous version completely. Unfortunately, you will lose all your saved settings. This is necessary to correct the problems with the previous versions reported to me.
- Follow the instructions in the "Installing For The First Time..." part.
Important Note Regarding Versions Prior To 2.xx
This version of Messcleaner has been rewritten from ground up. It is not compatible with the previous versions of the program. If you are using a prior version to 2.0, please do not attempt to install the new version over the previous versions.
How To Un-Install Messcleaner 2.xx
Step1:
Under the General options, If you have checked the option to start Messcleaner whenever Windows starts, then you need to uncheck this option before proceeding with step two, otherwise proceed to step two.
Step2:
Delete the installation directory and all the files in it.There are no external DLL's to delete. No modifications were made to your system files or settings.
