Dunlop JH-1S Jimi Hendrix Wah Wah Special
Price Paid: Shekels 440
Ease of Use: 9 It a simple wah-wah (Crybaby style, only a
switch to press for on/off) it's really simple (Unless you're a
drummer)... Has a place for an adaptor but the access to thebattery is
annoying, like in a Crybaby.
Sound Quality: 10 I used mostly a Charvel CX390 and a Fender
Champion. The pedal is not noisy at all, it's sounds really great, warm
fat sound, the volume is lost a bit when it goes bassy but you can put a
small wood stick there and it'll stop, that's normal for a wah-wah and
it's not such a problem. It sounds great with my amps distortion. For it
to sound like Hendrix I'd need a Strato and a Twin Reverb, but generally
it sound something like him. As far as sound matters is great, for me.
Reliability: N/A Never giged with it, I only had it for a few
weeks and umm.... I lost it... nm... sad story... Sometimes when I turned
it on/off it stopped working and you didn't hear a thing, it was kinda
between on and off i think, but that happened because I didn't press hard
enough on the pedal and it was not a bit problem. I didn't have it for
enough time to say if it's reliable but it's built like a tank and it
looks reliable.
Customer Support: N/A Never dealt with them
Overall Rating: 10 It's my first wah-wah but I've heard a few
before I bought this one. I've been playing for 2 years now. I lost it but
I'm buying a new one but better, I'm buying the chrome Crybaby, it has a
few wah sounds in it, including this one. Don't buy this pedal only on my
suggestion, go to the store and check all the wah's they've got, what do I
care, check all the stores you can. peace.

Price Paid: US $85.00 used
Ease of Use: 10 As with most Wah pedals, there is very little
to controling it. Great sound is there as soon as you step forward and
engage the switch. I bought mine used in perfect condition, but there was
no manual. If you can't figure it out, you may have a problem.
Sound Quality: 9 I use a Kramer Nightswan as my main guitar.
It is Very warm sounding. My amp is a Fender Super Six Reverb, which I
have built a 2 x 12 cabinet for. I Use a DOD Tec-4 for all of the other
effects. The pedal was built to the specifications of Hendrix's stuff and
duplicates the pedals from the old Thomas Organs. This unit has a much
wider sweep of tonal range than the standard "Crybaby" Wah. It has a
special pot that allows it to run from very deep muddy wah to high pitch
screaming. It blends with the tube amp to give that overall warm sound I
want. Yes, you can sound like Hendrix or Slash with this. The catch is
that you still must be able to play like them.
Reliability: 10 I have used this pedal on stage a lot. It is
just about as bullet proof as stuff gets. Pick one up and you'll find that
it weighs quite a bit. The battery lasts a very long time, even when you
forget and leave the cord plugged in. I see no reason why it could not be
used without a backup.
Customer Support: N/A I have not delt with them, but they do
have a nice web site. Sorry I don't remember the address. Do a search for
Dunlop+effects or something like that.
Overall Rating: 10 I play anything from 70's hard rock to
Slayer and Megadeth. This is a very vesitile wah. I have played for almost
12 years. I would definately buy one again. I basicly compared it to the
standard Crybaby from Dunlop which I had experience with. Shop around ! I
almost spent $120.00 for a standard one, but I found this one used with
the plastic still covering the nameplate!! Some kid bought it and never
used it, so he traded it back in. These list for about $150.00 or so on
Dunlop's website.
