beneficial for this major?
- Biology series, chemistry, Algebra I and II, and
computer literacy. CPR certification is also necessary
How many ours per day, on average, do full-time students
attend?
- 3 days per week, for class, 5 hours; 2 days per week,
5 - 8 hours (clinical)
How many hours per week do you recommend a full students
work?
- 16 or less (preferably on weekends)
How long will it take the average student to complete
this major during the evening?
- Nursing courses are not offered in the evening at this
time.
How would you rank the job availability in the Wayne
County area?
- Good in long-term care and community agencies. Limited
job availability in acute care hospital facilities.
How would rank the job availability within one-hour drive
of Goldsboro?
- Good
What is the starting salary range?
- Approximately $11.00 - $13.00 per hour. Salary
dependent upon the type of agency.
Outside of using the job placement service, does the
department assist in locating employment?
- Yes, we sponsor a regional Career Day annually in the
spring, participate in job placement, and complete references on
each graduate.
What types of jobs can be expected upon graduation?
- Nursing homes, doctor's office, home health, clinics,
long-term care facilities, Cherry Hospital, O'Berry Center,
Howell's Child Care Center, and area hospitals

- Physical exam, ($35 - $120); hepatitis vaccines ($110
- $150); health insurance ($44 per quarter); 2 uniforms ($80
each); shoes/hose ($50); equipment ($50); books ($780); NCLEX-PN
