Frank Kraushaar Sr.

My mother's grandfather on her father's side (My great grandfather) Frank Kraushaar Sr. was born about 1836 in Prussia, Germany. He came to America and settled in the Jersey County, Illinois area in about 1860. He and his wife Julia were listed in the Jersey County, IL 1860 census for Richwood Township. The Kraushaar name is misspelled Krausse or Crouser in some of the old census and other records. The 1860 census said he was a shoemaker. He later became a farmer in the Fieldon, IL area. He died in Sept. 1879 on his farm near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Julia Anna Albert. She was born about 1842 in Prussia, Germany. She died about 1900 on farm near Fieldon, IL.

(Note: From my research I found information, which is not yet proven or verified, that my great grandfather Frank Kraushaar's wife Julia Anna Albert was possibly a daughter of Michael Albert and Catherina Radtrioh born in Bayern, Germany.

Frank Kraushaar Sr. and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar had 9 children--Frank Kraushaar Jr., Joseph Kraushaar, John Kraushaar, Charles Kraushaar (my mother's father), Anna Kraushaar, Rosa Kraushaar, Mary C. Kraushaar, Josephine Kraushaar, and Elizabeth Kraushaar. After my great grandfather Frank Kraushaar Sr's death his wife Julia (Albert) Kraushaar remarried to William Weisner 5-19-1881 and they had 2 daughters, half sisters to my mother's father, Catherine Weisner and Lena Weisner.

The above picture is a wedding photo taken 4-14-1898 of my grandparents Charles Kraushaar and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. Charles Kraushaar, my mother Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's father, was a son of Frank Kraushaar Sr. and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar.

(1) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's son Frank Kraushaar Jr. was born abt. 1865 near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL, and he died in 1937 near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He farmed in the Fieldon, Jersey County, IL area. Frank Kraushaar Jr. married 1st Katurah Emeline Hughes 10 Jan 1883�in Jersey County, Illinois. Katurah Emeline Hughes was born abt. 1867. She was a daughter of Thomas and Lucinda (Rutherford) Hughes. Frank Kraushaar and Katurah Emeline Hughes must not have had children together, and divorced soon after the marriage. She remarried 5 years later to Nicholas Albert 15 May 1888 in�Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois. Frank Kraushaar married 2nd to Ida Houseman bef. 1889. Ida Houseman was born in 1870, and died in 1904. She was buried in Houseman Cemetery in Jersey County, IL. After her death in 1904 Frank Kraushaar married 3rd to my father's half sister Nora Westfall 13 Oct 1905 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL.

Frank Kraushaar's 2nd wife's Ida (Houseman) Kraushaar's obituary - Mrs. Frank Kraushaar, died 10-00-1904 (died in Oct. 1904, exact date unknown). From Jerseyville Republican Newspaper, 20 October 1904: Mrs. Frank Kraushaar, 34 years old, died at home 12 miles northwest of city. Funeral was by I. D. Crawford with burial in Houseman cemetery.

He lived on his father Frank Kraushaar's home place farm north of Fieldon, IL. He was married to Sylvia Carter born 9-3-1910 in IL. She died 10-17-1984 in Jerseyville, IL. William (Bill) Kraushaar and Sylvia (Carter) Kraushaar had 4 children-William Kraushaar, Richard Kraushaar, Ronald Kraushaar, and Judy Kraushaar who married a man who's last name was Tanner. William Kraushaar and his wife Sylvia are both buried in the Fieldon Cemetery.

William (Bill) Kraushaar's wife Sylvia L. (Carter) Kraushaar's obituary - Mrs. Sylvia Kraushaar, 74, 200 McBride St., Jerseyville, IL died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at St. Luke's West Hospital. Mrs. Kraushaar was born Sept. 3, 1910 in Illinois. She married William Kraushaar, and he died Jan. 17, 1962. She is survived by three sons, William of Miami, Fla., Richard of Texas, and Ron of Jerseyville; a daughter, Judy Tanner of Brighton; a brother, Fred Carter of Alton, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 19 with Reverend R. E. George officiating. Burial was in the Fieldon Cemetery.

(Note: I remember when I was a boy back in the 1950's my parents and I visited William Kraushaar's wife Sylvia (Carter) Kraushaar at a tuberculosis sanitorium near Edwardsville, IL where she was recovering from tuberculosis. I don't know how long she was at the tuberculosis sanitorium.)

(1aa) William "Bill" Kraushaar Sr. and Sylvia (Carter) Kraushaar's son Ronald Kraushaar's wife Ethel (McBride) Kraushaar's obituary - Ethel M. Kraushaar, 62, died at 5:40 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at her residence after a short battle with cancer. She was born June 8, 1949, in Carrollton, the daughter of Bernard and Marjorie (Hayes) McBride. Ethel had worked at the Temple Cleaners in Alton for a number of years and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals as well as Elvis Presley, and enjoyed her family and fishing, and was most content when could incorporate both at the same time. She married Ronald D. Kraushaar Sr. on April 22, 1967, at the home of the Rev. Dorcie Hill in Jerseyville and he survives, and they have been blessed with 44 years together. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Irene Kraushaar Jr. of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Dennis R. and Jessica Kraushaar of Jerseyville; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Alexa, Brian, Devin, Sam, Chris, Brooke and Sterling; one great-granddaughter, Brooklynne; a brother, Bernard McBride of Bluffs; and a sister, Kathy Kimble of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Leanne Kraushaar. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23. Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

William "Bill" Kraushaar Sr. and Sylvia (Carter) Kraushaar's son Ronald Kraushaar's wife Ethel (McBride) Kraushaar's mother Marjorie Carol (Hayes) McBride's obituary - The funeral of Marjorie Carol McBride, 56, of 102 Sheridan, Jerseyville will be conducted at 2 p.m. on 15 Aug. at Jacoby Brothers funeral home by the Rev. Norman Eddy. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. She died at 5:12 a.m. on 13 Aug. at Chesterfield after an extended illness. She was born in Peoria on 13 Dec. 1921, a daughter of Charles W. and Leta Hamm Hayes and had been a seamstress in dress manufacturing. She served in the army from 16 Mar. 1944 to 15 Aug. 1945. She is survived by a son, Bernard McBride of Chesterfield; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Kraushaar of Jerseyville and Mrs. Kay Kimble of West Union, Ohio; 11 grandchildren. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death. Visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Published, 14 Aug. 1978.

In addition to her parents, surviving are a sister, Stephanie St. Clair of Jerseyville; two brothers, Jeffrey St. Clair of Jerseyville and Brian Kraushaar of Arizona; grandparents, Larry and Sandy Bregenzer of Alton and Ron and Ethel Kraushaar of Jerseyville; and great-grandmother, Ruby Wieneke of Bethalto. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton, where the Rev. Ray Robinson will officiate at services at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family.

(Kraushaar) Woolsey Baxter's grandson and their daughter Irma (Woolsey) Eisler's son Ronald Dean Eisler's obituary - Funeral services for Ronald Dean Eisler, sixteen year old Jerseyville youth, were held from Gubser Funeral Home to the First Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon, Mar 19 at 2 o'clock. Rev Carl Moman, pastor of the Church officiated at the services and interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Ronald Dean's death occurred suddenly Monday afternoon, March 17 at 2:45 at the home of his parents on Lincoln Avenue. An inquest into his death will be conducted by Coroner Rodney C. Jacoby. The youth was a son of Frank and Irma Woolsey Eisler and he was born Aug 5, 1941 in Jerseyville. He was aged sixteen years, seven months and twelve days. Surviving Ronald Dean in addition to his parents are two brothers, Robert Leroy Eisler of Otterville and Arthur Michael Eisler of Jerseyville; four sisters, Mrs Morris Long, Mrs William Hardy and Miss Joetta Marie Eisler of Jerseyville and Mrs James Martin of Carlinville; his maternal grandmother, Mrs Augusta Baxter of Jerseyville and his maternal grandfather, Amos Woolsey of Edwardsville.

(Kraushaar) Woolsey Baxter's great granddaughter and their daughter Irma (Woolsey) Eisler's granddaughter Tina Marie Lott's obituary - Unknown newspaper, 29 Mar. 1973: Graveside services were conducted Wednesday morning at Oak Grove cemetery for Tina Marie Lott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Lott of Jerseyville, who died at Alton memorial hospital an hour after birth on 26 march. Rev. Everett Chambers, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated. In addition to her parents she is survived by two brothers, Brad Allen Lott, 5, and Chad Edward Lott, 2. Mrs. Lott is the former Joetta Marie Eisler. Gubser funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Nora Westfall was born 1-8-1887 in West Virginia, and died 4-22-1944 in Jersey County, IL. She was the daughter of Jasper and Mary Jane (Shannon) Westfall. They married 10-13-1905 in Jersey County, IL. Frank and Nora (Westfall) Kraushaar had 3 children-Frank Jr. (Frankie) Kraushaar, Frances Hattie Kraushaar, and Leo Kraushaar.

Womack's obituary - Brian M. Womack, 22, died at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1985, in Hopewell, Va. His parents are David Womack Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Grafton and his mother, Jennifer Womack, of Springfield, Ill. He married the former Heather Bell on April 20, 2007, in Jerseyville. She survives. He was a laborer in brick laying.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Hayden M. Womack of Grafton; his paternal grandparents, David and Kara Womack Sr. of Grafton; maternal grandparents, Robert and Beverly Kraushaar of Godfrey; paternal great-grandparents, Richard and Geraldine Waggoner of Texas; his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Kraushaar of Alton; a sister, Sarah Womack of Springfield; two brothers, Reis Gaffney and Elijah Womack, both of Grafton; and a nephew and niece, J.J. and Nevaeh. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Thomas and Muriel Womack; his maternal great-grandfather, Leo Kraushaar; and his paternal great-grandfather, Crystal Duff. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville and from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at First Baptist Church in Grafton. The Rev. William Hendricks will officiate. Burial will be at Scenic Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

(3) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's son Joseph Kraushaar was born abt. 1866 near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL, and he died in Feb. 1928 near Fieldon, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. He farmed in the Fieldon area and was married 6-22-1888 to Jane Christina (Tina) Martin. She was born abt. 1866, and died in 1928 near Fieldon, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL.

Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's son Joseph Kraushaar's obituary - Joseph Kraushaar, died 02-00-1928 (died in Feb. 1928, exact date unknown) Jersey County News, 16 February 1928: Joseph Kraushaar, 60 years old, died on Wednesday. The funeral was at Cumberland Presbyterian church in Fieldon with Rev. Reuben Russell; burial in Fieldon cemetery. Twelve children survive: Charles E., Chris and Otto of East Hardin, Clarence, Fred, Herbert, Mrs. Katie Goshorn, Mrs. Julia Cross, Mrs. Josie Maltimore, Miss Inez, Anna Mayfield of Dow, Lizzie Tucker of Fieldon.

He died 7-27-1996. He married Adaline McCartney 5-13-1924 in Jersey County, IL, the daughter of Hiram and Nettie (Kress) McCartney. She died 5-26-1985.

Joseph and Christina (Martin) Kraushaar's son Otto Henry Kraushaar's obituary - Otto Henry Kraushaar, 90, of Michael, died Saturday, July 27, 1996 at the home of his son with whom he lived. He was a lifetime farmer, retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville. Born November 19, 1905 in Richwood Township in Jersey County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Christina (Martin) Kraushaar. He married Adaline McCartney May 13, 1924 in Jersey County and she died May 26, 1985.

Surviving are three daughters, Mable Dunham of Alton, Virginia Jones of Michael and Judy Byrd of Wood River; one son and daughter-in-law Richard and Rita Kraushaar of Michael; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughter, Irma Rose Kraushaar and Mary Lee Barbary; five brothers, Chris, Charles, Fred, Herb and Clarence Kraushaar; six sisters, Elizabeth Tucker, Inas Gallup, Kate Goshorn, Julie Cross, Anna Mayfield and Josephine Maltimore, and one grandson, Roger Dunham. She was a member of St. Michael's and Holy Ghost and the Jerseyville Eagles Auxiliary. She married Otto H. Kraushaar on 13 May 1924.

Her survivors are a son, Richard Kraushaar of Michael; daughters, Mabel Dunham of Alton, Mary Lee Barbary of Jerseyville, Pat Jones of Michael and Judy Isringhausen of Godfrey; one brother, Tony McCartney of Wood River; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irma Kraushaar, one brother, two sisters, and a granddaughter. The Calhoun ambulance service has been named as a memorial.

Kraushaar, 58, of Michael, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville after a lengthy battle with cancer and diabetes. He graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1958 and was a self-employed farmer for 30 years in Jersey, Greene, and Calhoun counties. Then he worked at Capri Sun Kraft Food in Granite City until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Michael and Calhoun Farm Bureau in Hardin. He never met a stranger and enjoyed hunting, working, and especially farming, as well as reminiscing with acquaintances. Born January 19, 1940 in Fieldon, he was the son of the late Otto and Addie McCartney Kraushaar. He married Rita M. Sievers September 5, 1959 in Meppen and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy Kraushaar of Michael; three sisters, Pat Jones of Michael, Judy Byrd of Madison County, and Mabel Dunham of Alton; uncle and aunt Tony and Rose McCartney of Wood River; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe an Clara Sievers of Hardin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Barbary and Irma Kraushaar. Visitation was held Friday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. The Funeral was conducted Saturday, May 16, 1999 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin with Rev. Sylvano Pera, O.F.M. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Order of Franciscan Monks or the American Cancer Society.

He served with the U.S. Army for several years, serving in Iran, and retired in 1973 from Olin Corp. in East Alton after 21 years of service. He married the former Rosaella Vinyard on Jan. 12, 1946, in Jerseyville, and they shared 60 years together before her death on July 28, 2006.

Surviving are a son, Sherman Kraushaar of Jerseyville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Kinder of Golden Eagle; Shirley Davidsmeyer of Carrollton and Connie and Joe Pruitt of Godfrey; a son-in-law, Robert Pruitt of Godfrey; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kay (Kraushaar) Pruitt, on June 20, 2006; and three sisters, Beulah Delp, Myrtle Delp and Mary Lyles. Sherman Lee Kraushaar's wife Rosaella Marie (Vinyard) Kraushaar's obituary - Rosaella Marie (Vinyard) Kraushaar, 82, died at 4:14 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville, where she had been a resident for the past 26 days. Born Jan. 30, 1924, in Litchfield, she was the oldest child of Archie and Nora (Kane) Vinyard. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, and she assumed the responsibility of assisting in the care of her siblings at an early age. Her family was her life, as she had a great love for people, always extending a helping hand to any who were in need, and was a loyal friend to all. She began working at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville on their first day of operation and retired as the supervisor of housekeeping after 25 years of dedicated and loyal service. She married Sherman Kraushaar on Jan. 12, 1946, just two weeks shy of her 22nd birthday, in Jerseyville. They shared 60 years together.

Mr. Vinyard was born December 6, 1926, in Springfield, Illinois, to Archie and Nora Vinyard. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in World War II. He was an over- the-road truck driver for over 40 years and retired in April 1990. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and served as the Vice President of the Teamsters Retirees Club. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge. Bill and his family were long time residents of Lincoln, Illinois, from 1966 until 1977, when he was transferred to Kansas City, Missouri, as an employee of Holmes Freight Lines. He married Elva Clark of Winchester, Illinois, in 1960.

His survivors include his wife, Elva; sons, Steve Vinyard, William J. Vinyard, Jr.; daughters, Gayle Early, Sandy Vinyard, Debbie Seaman, and Twila Vinyard- Robinson; brothers, Tom, Mickey, and Earl Vinyard; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Archie and Nora Vinyard; his sisters, Melba Isringhauser and Rosella Kraushaar; and his brother, Leonard Vinyard. Ethyle was the daughter of Floyd and Anna (Shanks) Ray of Kane. She was born April 12, 1914. In 1932, she married Kenneth W. Kraushaar. During their union she had two sons, Robert, who died in infancy, and Donald Kraushaar, also deceased, and a daughter, Glenda Heflin of Alton. She and her husband experienced many historical events, wars and a depression as well as various recessions of the 20th century. They both worked together diligently to conquer many of those hardships. She had welcomed the 21st century with enthusiasm. Ethyle was a homemaker and a beautician. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a daughter-in-law, Bridget Kraushaar of Bethalto; two granddaughters, Karin Barry of South Carolina; and Holly Heflin of St. Louis. Also surviving are a favorite sister-in-law, Georgia Ray of Jerseyville; a brother-in-law, George Kraushaar and wife, Martha, also of Jerseyville. Another brother-in-law, Charles Kraushaar, passed away on the same day, 12 hours earlier. There will be no visitation as per her request. She requested that her body be cremated. He worked for Ralston Purina and SIUE as a Manager of Information Systems for more than 20 years and served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton and was the former president of the SIUE Alumni Association. He also was a volunteer for Oasis serving as a tutor at Parkside Elementary School in Bethalto and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karin and Barry Hill of Columbia, SC and one sister, Glenda Heflin of Alton. He was preceded in death by his father.
