Founding Fathers & History

On the 13th day of October in the year of our Lord 1998, four minds came together to form an organization. It wasn=t quite clear at that time the dedication and strength needed to engage in this endeavor. By the end of the year 1998, a fifth person joined in on our venture. The journey began with a name, one that would signify our intent. Valley Intervention Projects was chosen for its simpleness yet complexity. Valley represented our diverse population, Intervention represents our desire to intervene for the youth in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and Projects signified the many projects that could be implemented to assist the youths of our region, hence, Valley Intervention Projects Incorporated. (V.I.P., Inc.) The By-laws were adopted which allowed us to Incorporate in October of 1997. Of the original five, three members still exist to carry on the dream that became a reality. The envisionment of V.I.P., Inc. enabled the organization to receive a license to educate and open a third generation charter school in the Harlingen/San Benito area on the 4th day of January in the year of our Lord 1999.
