Week 1:                    Introduction of the names, definitions, and use of pottery tools, machinery,
                                    and safety
                                    Instruction on types of clay, preparation, and uses
                                    Demonstration of techniques of throwing pottery on the electric wheel

Week 2:                    Demonstration of pottery-throwing using a student for a learning demonstration
                                    Each student will attempt to make a small bowl on the electric wheel
                                    Review for quiz #1

Week 3:                     Demonstration of triming a pot that has been thrown on the wheel
                                    Students will trim their own pots on the wheel
                                    Quiz #1  ( names, definitions, and use of pottery tools and machinery)

Week 4:                    Demonstration of making a vase on the wheel
                                    Students will make a vase on the wheel
                                    Review for Quiz # 2

Week 5:                    Demonstration of trimming a vase on the wheel
                                    Students will trim their vases on the wheel
                                    Instruction about the kiln and firing pottery
                                    Quiz # 2 (throwing techniques and trimming)

Week 6:                    Demonstration on glazing pottery
                                    Students will glaze their own pottery
                                    Students will make two bowls: 6" and 10"

Week 7:                    Demonstration on throwing coffee mugs with handles
                                    Students will make two 6" coffee mugs (handles will be added next week)
                                    Review for Quiz # 3

Week 8:                    Demonstration of making and putting a handle on a coffee mug
                                    Students will trim and make handles for their mugs
                                   Quiz # 3 (glazing techniques)

Week 9:                    Comprehensive Final (terms, techniques, trimming, firing, glazing, machinery,
                                    and safety)
                                    Each student will demonstrate the techniques of throwing a pot on the wheel
