All 3 DB series tell the story of Goku's life. The first Dragonball series, simply titled, Dragonball, tells the story of Goku's childhood. Goku meets many people in the first series, and makes many allies too. Most of which, come from former enemies/rivals, namely Tien, Piccolo, and Yamcha. Goku is a Saiyan, which he did not know until the beginning of DBZ, when his brother Radditz came to Earth to see if Goku had destroyed it yet. Goku and Piccolo team up to fight Radditz, but even their combined power is not enough. Goku makes the ultimate sacrifice, he holds his brother while Piccolo uses his ultimate attack, the Special Beam Cannon, which not only kills Radditz, but takes Goku out in the process. Goku goes to train with King Kai in order to prepare for the coming of the other two Saiyans. Unlike his son, Gohan, Goku is kinda dumb. He was raised by an old martial arts master named Son Gohan, who is referred to as Old Son Gohan, since Goku named his son Gohan in honor of his adopted grandfather.

Ah yes, as in most animes, there is a dark figure who is evil at first, and then turns good. Piccolo is this person. Piccolo has green skin, because he is a Namek. Also, Piccolo is the pure evil side of Kami, the guardian of Earth. This is not the original Piccolo however. The original Piccolo, came to Earth when the planet Namek underwent severe weather changes which nearly wiped out the entire Namek race. Piccolo was sent by his father to Earth, where he lived in the harshest region on the planet, Yamzabet Heights, for much of his early years. Eventually, he grew tired of waiting for someone from his home planet of Namek to come and rescue him, so he ventured out into the world. He eventually contested the throne of Kami, which he won. But, before he could become Kami, he had to remove all the evil in his soul. So, because the Nameks are able to split, creating seperate pure evil and pure good entities, he split into his present self, and another, who was pure evil. This evil entity was known as Piccolo Daimaoh, or the Great Demon King Piccolo. This Piccolo was trapped by Kami in the Mafuba, a container that would contain his evil spirit. However, he broke free. He found the Dragonballs, and wished for his youth back, increasing his power to the point where not even Goku, who was still a child, could match him. However, Goku later defeated him, and he spit out an egg, which contained the current Piccolo that we know now. Piccolo came back several years after this and fought Goku, but he was defeated. Because they come from the same soul, Piccolo and Kami are linked, meaning that if one should die, the other goes with him.

Gohan is Goku's first son. In fact, DBZ was supposed to tell the story of Gohan's life, but in order to do that, they had to focus on Goku for most of it. Gohan is a hybrid, meaning he is half Saiyan and half human. Gohan first showed his potential when he broke Saiyan armor, which is the strongest armor in all of DBZ. Normally, Gohan is a rather calm person who doesn't like to fight, but when he gets angry, his power sky-rockets. The first REAL time this happened was when Piccolo saved Gohan from Nappa's blast, after which Piccolo said a tearful goodbye to Gohan. Gohan became so enraged at this that his power overcame him, and he fired a blast at Nappa which was unfortunately deflected by the bulky Saiyan. Later, during the Cell Game, Gohan shows his true power. Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks and Gohan were all ready SSJ, but none of them could reach the next stage. Until that is, Android 16 was destroyed by Cell as Gohan watched, knowing that 16 could not be revived with the Dragonballs. 16's "death" stirred up so much rage inside Gohan that he went to the next stage of Super Saiyan, SSJ2! In this form, Gohan easily outmatched Cell, and killed him. Gohan remained the strongest until the Buu Saga when Vegeta became somewhat stronger. However, in order to fight Maijin Buu, Gohan needed more power. So, the higher gods of the universe, the Kaioh-shin, who had come to stop Buu, but could not, gave Gohan the Zet Sword. Gohan trained with this sword for days, increasing his power greately. However, Gohan broke the sword by accident, and released the elder Kaioh-shin with it. This Kaioh-shin, commonly referred to as Dai or Rou Kaioh-shin, agreed to augment Gohan's power. This would finally release Gohan's dormant power. With this power, Gohan defeated Buu, but was unable to kill him. With this opportunity, Buu absorbed Gohan, becoming so strong that even SSJ3 Goku nor SSJ2 Vegeta could beat him. Gohan could've became the strongest person in all of DB, but during GT, he opted to quit fighting and become a scholar. Gohan had a daughter, Pan, with Videl, the daughter of Mr. Satan.

Vegeta is the prince of all Saiyans. Vegeta's father, King Vegeta, ruled the planet Vegeta (before the Saiyans overthrew the Tsurufu-jins (Tuffles), it was called planet Plant) This all changed when Frieza hired the Saiyan race to be his personal "planet pirates." The Saiyans are the strongest race in the galaxy, much to the fact that their home planet of Vegeta has 10x that of Earth's normal gravity. Frieza took Prince Vegeta, sensing that the boy had incredible power (Vegeta as a kid could easily wipe out a group of Saibamen, who each had power levels of 1,200) However, King Vegeta and the rest of the Saiyans had had enough of Frieza's tyranny, so King Vegeta and a group of Elite Saiyans went to Frieza's ship to get back Prince Vegeta and kill Frieza. King Vegeta "fought" Frieza but was killed along with the rest of his warriors, and after that, Frieza leaves his ship to destroy the planet Vegeta, and all the other Saiyans with it. Vegeta was pretty much raised to manhood by his "caretaker" Nappa, to whom he killed after Nappa failed to beat Goku on Earth. Vegeta is a very proud warrior, and believed that he would be the first Super Saiyan-jin. But, Goku turned out to be first, then Future Trunks appeared and was a SSJ as well, and it is this fact that drives Vegeta over the edge. Later, Vegeta is put under a spell by Babi-di, becoming his slave, or so Babi-di thought. Vegeta, now known as "Maijin Vegeta" had one goal in his mind, to kill Goku! They fought, but no winner emerged. After this, Maijin Vegeta went to fight Buu, but was not strong enough. So, he did the only thing he could do in hopes of defeating the demon, he self-destructed. In one of the most unforgettable moments in DBZ, he told Trunks that he had never hugged him before, and then he did. (Keep in mind that he still supposed to be fully evil due to Babi-di's spell despite this!) Even though his plan didn't work, he came back from the dead for one day to help Goku fight Buu. Even with both of them fighting Buu, they were still no match. Then, Goku pulled out his trump card. The Potara Earrings. These are an alternative to the normal fusion technique, but they're effects are permanent. The two of them fused, and became Vegetto! Vegetto, not even SSJ yet was far stronger than Buu, then he turned SSJ and really turned up the heat!

Growing up, Krillin and Goku trained together with Master Roshi. Although he went a different route of being accepted by the old hermit (he gave him a XXX-magazine!) Krillin, while not as strong as Goku, was far more intelligent though. Of all the characters in DB/Z/GT, Krillin was probably the highest in terms of dying the most often. He was first killed in DB by one of Piccolo Daimao's henchmen, then later during Z by Frieza. After that, he died when Buu destroyed the Earth, then once again in GT. While Krillin is one of the weakest characters, he is one of the most courageous. Knowing full-well that he can't compete with Frieza, he risks his life to buy Dende some time to heal Gohan. Of all the human Z-Fighters, Krillin is usually 2nd strongest, but later in Z he finally surpasses Tien to take over the title of strongest human. Krillin also saves 18's life after Cell was defeated, when everyone wanted to do away with her, in case she ever came back, but Krillin stood up for her, and was rewarded with a not so polite thanks from the android, but, as we all know, she just couldn't resist the little cueball, and settled down with him. On another note, while many other people have performed the Kienzan (Destructo Disk) Krillin is the true master of it. Hell, he even saws off Frieza's tail with one of em!

This is the more "Vegeta-like" version of Trunks. Since Vegeta was alive during his childhood, unlike his future counterpart, he got more of the "Saiyan spirit" than Future Trunks did. Chibi Trunks is a year older than Goten, and because of this, he is slightly stronger and faster than him. However, they are best friends, but Trunks usually gets the two of them in trouble. Chibi Trunks is most often seen wearing a green gui, but is most noticeable by his purple hair. In fact, he is the only Saiyan not to have black (or brown for those of you who think Vegeta has brown hair) Probably since Bulma has green hair, this mixed in with the darker Saiyan hair to result in purple! This Trunks had a rather easy childhood since the Androids weren't able to go on their little warpath, and this results in the fact that Chibi Trunks doesn't reach the level that Future Trunks did. However, he (and Goten) are stronger than both of their fathers were at that age, and also are the youngest to ever go SSJ (Trunks at about 6-7 and Goten at about 5-6) Later in GT, Trunks takes over as head of the Capsule Corp. but abandons it to go with Goku to search for the Blackstar Dragonballs. Also, Chibi Trunks and Goten can fuse to make the only other being that can go SSJ3 besides Goku. This fused form is known as Gotenks.

Tien is an odd-looking guy to say the least. For starters, he has 3 eyes. This 3rd eye is kinda magical in it's own right, because if he watches a technique with it, he can perform it (this is how he can do Kamehameha) Tien was first introduced as an assassin for Tao-pai-pai. Tien is a student of the Crane School, an old rival of the Turtle School led by Master Roshi. When he first appears, Tien defeats Master Roshi in the Tenkachi Budokai, surprising everyone with his power. Then, in the finals, he has to fight Goku. This was pretty much an even fight, but in the end, Tien proved to be stronger, probably because of the fact that he is several years older than Goku, that and he was hit by a truck while falling to the ground, and Goku wasn't as fortunate to be blocked by something. Anyways, during DBZ he kinda fell behind (as did just about everyone) when the Saiyan-jins arrived. He shows his true talents when the Ginyu Force (minus Capt. Ginyu) arrive on King Kai's planet. Initially, Tien, Yamcha, and Chouzu doubt their chances of beating the group, but it's Tien's motivational skills that gives them the determination they need. During this fight, Tien gets the pleasure of fighting Jeice and Burter at the same time! However, Tien uses his unique talent to create another copy of himself to make it a fair fight. But, Tien wouldn't need this, as Jeice and Burter go for their strongest attack, the Purple Comet Crash. However, Tien foiled their plans simply by just flying straight into them at propelling them out of heaven and into Hell. Later during the Cell Saga, Tien realizes that he is not strong enough to keep fighting the stronger enemies, so he decides to stop training and settle down. In a surprise moment during the Buu Saga, Tien makes his brief return to save Gohan. Buu was about to blast Gohan into oblivion when another blast deflects Buu's. It was Tien's Kikoho, the same attack that puts Tien's life on the line each time he uses it. In terms of power, Tien is usually the strongest human, but after he stops training, Krillin surpasses him.

Goten is the second son of Goku. In Future Trunks' time, Goten does not exist. An odd thing about Goten is that at first, he can't fly. So when Gohan teaches Videl how to fly, he also teaches Goten with her. Goten is really different than his brother Gohan. First off, Goten is much stronger than Gohan was at his age. Second, Goten isn't nearly as bright as Gohan is. Also, Goten is the spittin image of Goku! The likeness is uncanny. Goten is slightly weaker than Chibi Trunks is. A fun fact about Goten is that he can do the Kamehameha, but he doesn't pronounce it the same. Rather, he says "Kamekameha!" Goten's main usefulness is to fuse with Trunks to make Gotenks. During GT, Goten was going to go into space with Trunks and Goku, but he changed his mind at the last second due to problems with his girlfriend.
