January 16, 1942 A certain René Angélil sees for the very first time the daylight.  Later he will become Céline’s manager and husband...
June 20, 1945
Adhémar Dion marries Thérèse Tanguay at Saint-Zéphirin de La Tuque.   23 years later they will give birth to Céline.
1966 Vline Buggy writes a song for Hugues Aufrey, “Céline”, which will become the inspiration for our diva’s first name.
1968 The year Céline is born...  It’s also the date that occures on a coin of 5 cents found at her feet and that she cherishes like the pupils of her eyes.  “5” is her lucky number.
March 30, 1968 Céline is born in Charlemagne (Québec).
August 1973
Michel Dion, one of her brothers, marries.  At this occasion the 5-year old Céline makes her first solo-debut and seduces that way a large number of admirers.
1978
The first album from the group of which Michel Dion is a member; “The Show” comes out.
1980
A big turnabout takes place.   Céline’s mother accepts that Céline wants to devote herself to the song and writes “Ce n’Etait Qu’Un Rêve” for her.  The dream had barely begun!
1981
Céline’s first album is released in Canada: “La Voix Du Bon Dieu”, on which we find “Ce n’Etait Qu’Un Rêve”; the song that persuaded René Angélil.
1983
At the age of barely 15, Céline decides to quit school and to throw herself completely at her career as a singer - under the wings of René Angélil.
January 1983
Céline is THE revelation at the “MIDEM” (Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale) in Cannes with her song “L’Amour Et l’Amitié”.
September 1, 1983
Céline receives her first Golden Disc in France for a sale of more than 500,000 copies of her single “L’Amour Et l’Amitié”.
September 11, 1984
Céline performs in front of pope Jean-Paul II and a crowd of more than 65,000 spectators the for the occasion specially chosen title: “Une Colombe”.
April 30, 1988
In Dublin Céline wins the Eurosongcontest, where she represented Switserland with “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”.
1989
Céline takes English classes to prepare herself for an international career.
December 1990
Together with other partners, under whom René Angélil, Céline launches the Nickels-restaurants.
March 9, 1991
Céline makes her debut as an actress in the French-Canadian televisionserial “Des Fleurs Sur La Neige”.
December 18, 1991
A new contract with Sony Music is settled for an amount of 10 million Dollars.  The contract runs for 5 albums, of which “Falling Into You” is the last.
March 30, 1992
During the evening of the Oscar presentation in Hollywood, Céline performs in a duet with Peabo Bryson the title-track of the Disney animation “Beauty And The Beast”.   The song itself receives an Oscar!
January 19, 1993
With regard to the commission of the elected American president, Bill Clinton, Céline performs at the Kennedy Center in Washington the song “Love Can Move Mountains”, and gets personal congratulations from Hillary Clinton!
November 8, 1993
The discotheque “Metropolis” (Montréal) is chosen to launch the album“The Colour Of My Love”.
1994
Year of the big breakthrough in France, where she gets a Golden Disc.  In a few weeks, more than 100,000 copies of the album “The Colour Of My Love” are sold.
December 17, 1994
Céline marries her manager, René Angélil, in Montréal (Québec).
July 1995
Céline has 5 albums at the same time in the Belgian top-50!  “D’Eux”, “The Colour Of My Love”, “Des Mots Qui Sonnent”, “l’Olympia” and “Les Premières Années”.
October 1995
A premiere for the USA; for the very first time more than 100,000 copies are sold of a French album: “D’Eux” by ... Céline Dion!
October 18, 1995
Céline’s first concert in Belgium, in Forest National.
1996
Céline Dion is declared the artist who has sold the most albums in the world.
January 22, 1996
In Cannes, Céline receives the decorations of “Cavalier in the Order of Art” and letters from the French minister of Culture, Philippe Douste-Blazy, at the occasion of the thirtieth MIDEM.
February 12, 1996
New trophies for Céline: in Paris she gains two musical victories, as ‘French Artist Of The Year’ and for the ‘Song Of The Year’ (“Pour Que Tu m’Aimes Encore”).
July 19, 1996
An honour that is only reserved for the very, very top: Céline sings at the occasion of the openingsceremony from the Olympics in Atlanta, the song “The Power Of The Dream” for 3.5 billion spectators.
December 17, 1996
2 years after their marriage, Céline and René repeat publicly their profound wish to have a child.
June 20, 1997
