The past few months Céline and René experienced quite some distressful moments:

- As you know, the couple has had a hard time fighting René’s disease, and still they deal with the everlasting fear that the cancer will return. – Every three months René is receiving a check-up.
- Just when they were about to remarry, the news was announced that their divorce papers had been prepared before René got sick. – The word is the couple fell in love again as René’s illness gave them the time to rediscover their positive feelings for one another.
- Céline’s former drummer Peter Barbeau accused Céline of not singing live during her concert performances – Céline says this is not true!
- Another rumour that was internationally spread was that of Céline’s pregnancy.  According to the National Enquirer Céline confirmed to their reporter she would have been pregnant with twins. – Many heard the good news and congratulated Céline, unwillingly turning it into a very painful matter for Céline and René.  Unfortunately there is no proof whatsoever to assume that Céline would be pregnant yet.  Meanwhile Céline pursued the National Enquirer for the announcement of this false news, claiming about 20,000,000$.
- Nickels was hinted to be involved in some fraud business. - The media was of course all over Céline and René, although they aren’t official shareholders anymore since 1997.
- Also in February René’s best friend, Pierre Labelle, died.  When back in Canada for his funeral, some voices claimed the renewed marriage was too luxuriant and a token of bad taste.
- In March, an afternoon of shopping in Miami was suddenly interrupted when a friend rang Céline telling her about the announcement of René’s death that was published in the paper.  As Céline was unable to reach her husband immediately, she drove homewards with great haste and found several messages on her answering machine from friends saying they heard the same thing.  Somewhat later René walked in; totally unaware of the fact that he had been signalled to be dead…

Nowadays Céline and René are finally enjoying a very happy time together, rehearsing – as they like to refer to it - for their profound wish to have a child, and playing a lot of golf together underneath the hot sun that shines on Florida!

As it was Céline’s 32nd birthday on March 30, 2000, we have added 32 new pictures to the “Picture Gallery” at “A Dutch/English Céline Dion Site” as our very special birthday present for you!
 
 

In this Fan Club Letter (n° 8), I also have a very special announcement to make.  Very recently the eldest Céline Dion fan club online and the world’s largest interactive Céline Dion club decided to merge!  This means the new partner club for “The Céline Dion Internet Fan Club” is “The Heart Of Céline”, which was established by Michael Arkins and Robert Lecluse at the end of last year.  Ever since, The Heart Of Céline has managed to gather over 1500 members, thus, with this merge and all these new contacts, we hope to come up with ever more projects and actions of which members of both clubs will be able to benefit.  After all, the bigger an organisation, how stronger its impact!

An important project that we will be organising together is the set-up for an international meeting in 2002:
