Het is inmiddels
al even geleden sinds "Titanic" de zalen maandenlang deed vollopen met
massa's toegestroomde mensen die allemaal deze titanische film op het grote
scherm wilden zien. Buiten hadden de eerstehulpposten amper hun tenten
opgeslagen, terwijl binnen het volk al werd ondergedompeld in de eerste
druppels romantiek aan boord van het prachtige klasseschip dat zonder het
te weten looddrecht op een ijsberg afstevende en er de tragische, vergaande
gevolgen van zou ondergaan. Al even onvergetelijk is natuurlijk het
bijhorende themalied dat voor Titanic staat: "My Heart Will Go On", dat
wellicht de geschiedenis in zal gaan als de allergrootste hit van Céline
Dion. Tot zover niets nieuws onder de zon. Maar wisten jullie
bijvoorbeeld al dat Céline een peperdure replica gekregen heeft
van "La Coeur De La Mer"? Waarschijnlijk wel... Het juweel
heeft 2,2 miljoen dollar gekost en werd uit een blauwe saffier met de grootte
van een golfbal en 103 diamanten vervaardigd door "Asprey" in Londen.
Toen Céline tijdens de Oscaruitreiking "My Heart Will Go On"
bracht, - en voor haar prestatie (beste themalied) zelf een Oscar kreeg
- droeg ze de saffier in de vorm van een hart. Na afloop kreeg ze
te horen dat ze deze nog mocht houden ook: een cadeautje van man René
die het pronkstuk twee dagen ervoor als verrassing voor haar gekocht had

been a while already since "Titanic" had movie centres filled for months
with crowds of people wanting to see this titanic movie on the big screen.
Outside the auxiliary services had barely put up their tents when inside
the crowd was already immersed in the first drops of romance on board of
the beautiful class ship that was without knowing it heading straight for
an iceberg with tragical, far-reaching consequences as a result.
Just as memorable is of course the theme song representing Titanic: "My
Heart Will Go On", which will probably remain in history as the biggest
hit of Céline Dion. So far, nothing new under the sun.
But did you know for example that Céline received a very expensive
replica of "La Coeur De La Mer"? Probably... The jewel costed
2,2 million dollar and was established from a big blue sapphire having
the size of a golf ball and 103 diamonds by "Asprey" of London. When
Céline brought "My Heart Will Go On" during the distribution of
the Oscars, - and got herself an Oscar for her performance (best theme
song) - she was wearing the sapphire with the shape of a heart. After
the show, she heard she could keep it as she found out her husband René
had bought it for her as a surprise at a charity fair two days earlier.
