Required Material:
** A+ Certification Exam Guide, Latest Edition, Meyers, Michael. McGraw Hill, 1998 ** (ISBN 0079137652)

Grades:
Final grade for this course is based on tests throughout the semester, and on a project designed to familiarize you with the research software used in this course.  Additionally, class participation will be factored in. 

Class Attendance:
You are accountable for all material covered and announcements given during class, whether or not you are present. The Durham Tech Attendance Policy permits you to miss only three classes before possibly being dropped from the course. If you decide you must drop this course, please get a drop slip from me. 

Assignments:
Assignments will consist of the preparation of sample test questions from each chapter. 

Tests:
There will be 5 chapter tests during the semester with a cumulative final. The chapter test will be 50% of your final grade, while the Final exam is 25% of your grade. The remainder 25% of your grade will come from the
sample test questions from each section. 

A+ Test:
You must make an appointment through Sylvan prior to taking the test by calling 1-800-755-EXAM or you can visit Sylvan Prometric's web site at http://www.prometric.com/html/testing.htm. Each test is $100. Taking the A+ test is not necessary for completion of this course. 

Special Assistance:
Students who require academic accommodations due to any physical, psychological, or learning disability should request assistance from the Disabilities Services Coordinator within the first two weeks of class. Likewise, students who may require emergency medical attention due to a chronic health condition are encouraged to notify the Disability Services Coordinator of their condition within the first two weeks of the semester.
