Q: How can I send a fax/receive a fax on campus? |
A: There is a public fax machine in Schneider Center, near the Info Box. You need to pay to use it (a couple of dollars, will post exact amount when I find it out), but it is possible to both send and receive faxes. |
Q: What are some good radio stations around Boston? |
A: Boston has a lot of every kind of music, but if you live on or near campus, you can listen to WZLY, Wellesley's own student-run radio station. WZLY broadcasts at 91.5FM (??). |
Q: How can I find a Notary Public on campus? |
Officer ???(Gio?) of Campus Po is a Notary, as is Dottie Folino (??) of the Admissions Office (?). |
Q: What is the distance around Lake Waban? |
A: Admissions says it's 2.2 miles around the lake. |

Q: Where can I rent movies? |
A: There is a Blockbuster Video about 3 miles from campus down Rt. 16 (Washington St) past StarMarket. It's great if you've got access to a car, but an awfully long walk. There's also a place called Wellesley Video a little further down. If you're car-less, you can take out some fun movies from the Knapp Media Center (I assume, since they took over the reserve room). Also, last year a student with an extensive video collection rented movies out. If she does that again this year, I'll provide information. |
Q: Where can I get film developed? |
A: There are two primary options: the Camera Place on Washington St, which does Kodak film developing and Wellesley students get 10% off, and CVS, which also offers Kodak developing. The Camera Place is often cheaper than CVS because of the discount. Cost for developing 4x6 double prints of 24 exposures is around $11 at CVS, and about $10 for the same at the Camera Place. 36 exposures will cost about $4 at either place. Perfecta (235-0890) on Washington St offers 1 hour service, which is about $15 for 24 exposures doubles 4x6. The quality may not be as high as at the other stores. |
Q: The lighting in my dorm room is awful! How can I make it better? |
A: Your best bet is to buy some lamps of your own. Halogen lamps are banned by the college, so don't buy one of those! You can get full spectrum lightbulbs, which supposedly are much closer to natural light than flourescent or traditional bulbs, to put in your own lamps. |
Q: Where's the most convenient fabric store? |
A: In Downtown Crossing (on the red line) there several fabric stores within walking distance. There is also Sew-lo on Cambridge St in Cambridge (closer to MIT than to Harvard Sq). |
