News from Bajor
STARDATE 9812.19
Peldor Joi! First and foremost I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday
(whichever holiday(s) you celebrate).
Next up I would like to say how happy I was to see a Bajoran in both the
Voyager episode "Nothing Human" and in "Star Trek: Insurrection". Even
though the later was only viewed for less than two seconds on the bridge of
the Enterprise-E.
Now, as for who is doing what. Nana Visitor (Colonel Kira Nerys) was
present at a charity to raise money for the Lois Thompson Housing Project for
Challenged Citizens last October in Oregon.
Louise Fletcher (Kai Winn) began work on an independent drama last August
in Chicago called "Time Served".
Lastly, the Prophets truly guide Chase Masterson (Leeta), or you would
think they do. TV Guide's recent on-line ballot has proclaimed her "Queen of
Outer Space." You ask why? Because in a vote for favorite sci-fi women she
won with 32% of the vote! Beating Jeri Ryan's 25% and Kate Mulgrew's 8%!
Proving something I've always known to be true.
I don't feel like defining anything this month. Instead, I bestow upon you
this knowledge. The Bajoran System consists of 14 planets orbiting a sun called
B'hava'el. Eight of those planets are terrestrial, three are gas giants, and the
outer three are ice/rock conglomerates. Twelve planets orbit on a stellar plane
while Bajor 8 & 9 orbit at an approximately 45 angle from that plane. The
Wormhole, Deep Space 9, and a handful of comets and such are also orbiting
B'hava'el. Bajor is the third planet with at least 5 moons. Derna is Bajor's 4th
moon & Jeraddo is the 5th. The Denorios belt is located between the 9th & 10th
planets. Bajor is a class M planet with 26 hour days, a mostly tropical climate,
green oceans, and 1.4g. Unlike Earth, Bajor has more land than ocean and is
considerably more geologically stable.
