Terra is the first character you start out with at the beginning of the game. She was put under control by Kefka, with the help of a slave crown. During a mission in Narshe, she sees an esper and that releases her but knocks her unconscience. She then meets Anvis and then Locke. Through this, a chain of events start to happen, and start to show her who she really is. What is she? What is the connection with her and the Esper?

             Locke is a treasure hunter(can't call him a thief or he will kill you) who is seaching the world for the most important relic. A relic that can revive his lost love Rachel. He meets Terra in the mines and helps her escape from the Empire soldiers that are after her. This guy never gets any rest because of this. He works for the Returners, an underground organization that is rebelling against the Empire. He later falls in love with Celes.

               Edgar is the King of Figaro. When he was younger his father died and the kingdom had to be split between him and his twin brother, Sabin. Because of a coin toss, Edgar won his brothers half. Edgar always seems to be trying to hit on some girl. His latest one was Terra. Didn't really work that well, heheheh.

            Sabin, in my opinion, is the best character in the game because of his blitz techniques. Sabin is Edgar's twin brother who decided his fate with a coin toss. Sabin wanted his freedom so Edgar used a double sided coin, so that Sabin would get what he wanted. Sabin then decided to train under Duncan, so that he could get his revenge on the Empire for killing his parents. The group meets up with Sabin in the mountains.

             Shadow is very mysterious. He never stays in one place. This is a man who would kill his own mama for a nickel. With his trusty dog Interceptor, at his side, he'll go anywhere to find a good job. He'll sometimes work for the Empire and sometimes work for you. It depends on the pay.

               Celes is one of the Empires Generals who finds out about something and then called a traitor for it. She grew up with a man named Cid (is it me, or does Squaresoft just like to use the name Cid) who is like a father to her. When she is being held capture, it's Locke who rescues her.
