The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (of Webpages)
First, the Good:
These are pages which look
nice, are
easily
navigable, have worthy content, an N16 rating, and quickly loaded.
-
The Linux.org Web Page
- A Nicely done page which is the gateway to reality (that is,
REAL computing!)
-
SlashDot Web Page
- The self-proclaimed news center for Nerds. This is one way we all
seem to know what the hell we are talking about
-
TechStore Web Page
- This webpage allows users to purchase many a computing item. With
online stock availability, great pictures of the items, and huge
selectiong, this is the place to shop. Ok, ok, so that has
nothing to do with web development, it is still cool.
-
PriceWatch.com
- This web site lets us nerds find the very best price for all our
hardware needs. If God needed a new motherboard, he would go to PriceWatch
for the best prices.
-
Distributed.net
- This website is amazing for many reasons, mainly for the good purpose
it is there for, to test encryption algorithms by brute force cracking
them using personal computers (volunteers) from around the world. What
makes this amazing is the fact that it keeps statistics of how well your
own computer is crunching, as well as the entire network of distributed
computers. Nice graphs are also a plus.
Now, the Bad and the Ugly
-
Neil Diamond Band
Page
- Ok, I love the guy, but this tribute site is absolutely horrible. It
does the poor man no justice. I feel like rming the page
Fuzzy Martian's Web
Page
- Besides the fact that this lady has way too much time on her hands (as
if I don't -- keep in mind, I was LOOKING for a site like this -- for this
class, of course), she doesn't seem to keep up with her pages, as one can
see, or, as of the last time I accessed this page, there are broken links
galore, mainly to images. The only thing this lady has going for her is
her apparent interest in Star Trek and Dilbert. God have mercy on her.

The Top 5% of Web Sites
- Ok, ok, so this web page was intentionally designed to be as
annoying as possible, but it sure does give tips on how to avoid
annoying web visitors.
-
Bob's Wonderful
Homepage
- First of all, Bob actually claims he has a wonderful homepage. THe
title alone would rank this web page as horrible. Not to mention that
lovely graphic of his name toward the bottom... Oooh, he made a
gradient... And one cannot miss the wonderful background MIDI, the
trademark of a wonderful page! LOL Atleast he has been so kind to allow
us to hit the "stop" button on the media player applet embedded into the
webpage. Well... atleast it is not a terrible song.
Who's
Webpage? BOB'S WEBPAGE!!!!!!
- Oh yea, he's a pro. Here we visit some other guy. This seems
to have some interesting things, well, a lot of things. Except...
