|  Chapter Six: The Gate-Hoppers Guide to the Universe
|
"Anyone get the license number of the truck that hit me?" Fatguts asked as he stumbled through the gate.
"Oh God, I'm gonna be sick." Vansen said as she rushed off to the side of the gate and started throwing up her breakfast.
"AUNTIE EM! AUNTIE EM! WHERE ARE YOU?" Chic shouted as she tried to steady her wobbling legs.
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Dorothy." Corry answered her and playfully slapped her on the back.
"OH MAN! I feel like my brains have been sucked out through a straw!" Lieutenant Jen groaned while holding her head.
"So this is what that feels like!" Parker said as he sat down next to Jen and handed her some aspirin.
"Someone please tell that asshole to quit jack hammering on my skull!" Rei complained as she reached over and grabbed the bottle of aspirin from Parker. "Thanks!" She said as she downed two of them and then handed the bottle back to Parker.
Clutching her stomach, Ashira bent over, "OH MAN! I don't think my stomach can handle many more of these trips."
"Quit being a bunch of babies!" Stealth yelled at the team.
Ignoring Stealth and walking towards the DHD, Franks smiled at Odis. "Well that certainly was fun!"
"Yeah--remind me to thank the driver!" Odis chuckled as she looked around, making sure everyone was there.
"And you actually get used to this?" Wulfbane questioned SG-2.
"Look at them. They're laughing at us!" Isis said as she put her canteen away and walked over to the DHD.
"Am I suppose to feel this cold for this long?" Justin asked.
"You're cold? I'm hot!" Captain Dirtbag said as he looked over at Justin.
"I think that's because of the adrenalin guys." Irish answered them while clearing the ice crystals from her goggles.
"So--you guys and gals ready to quit belly-aching and get on with the mission or do you want to sit here and pout?" Ferretti asked with an evil grin on his face.
"How many more times do we have to do this?" Vansen asked as she stumbled back to join the group.
"Oh--I'd say at least 10 more times. One time for each member to dial and send the Iris signal through." Isis said as she walked over to Vansen, giving her a concerned look as she made sure Vansen was okay.
"Explain again why we don't dial Earth each time or at least stay on one planet to do all the dialing." Stealth said as he walked up to the DHD and pulled out his sheet of coordinates to dial.
"So we each get experience dialing and sending the signal. Plus, we don't know if the Goa'uld are in the area. So hopping around means we are less-than-likely going to give them a chance to set up an attack on us. As for the not dialing Earth part, all I know is that each time the gate is opened it costs a lot of money. And General Hammond doesn't want us blowing his budget for the year unnecessarily, therefore, we dial other planets." Isis explained to the entire group yet again for the fifth time since starting this mission.
"And here I was thinking it was just so we would get sick or become popsicles!" Irish said as she put her goggles back on her helmet.
"Alrighty Gaters & Gaterettes! Six trips down, ten more to go! Stealth my good man--dial us up please!" Isis commanded as she looked up and made sure everyone was clear of the path of the opening gate.
A collective groan went out from the team as they started trip #7 through the never-ending network of Stargates.
