CLOCKS

•  Disable clocks when not in use.This is in brevity clocks are gated .The main drawback of  this approach is CTS becomes an arduous task.
• When they are mandatory for some basic functionality , reduce the frequency of the clocks which reduces switching and thus inturn saves power.

OTHER LOGIC

• Reduce switching wherever necessary like Address/Data buses can be mutliplexed and tied to '0' or '1' when not in use.
• Pull up's in the chip can be weak pull up's.
