Mid April
I managed to miss to flowering season, so here are some pics of rainbow barrel cacti.
Notice how the spines are curved ? On any cactus there are at least several that are
curved enough to be used as hooks,
I'm not sure what species these are, but they look nice
A little variety
Some different species of cholla, budding.
Misseltoe in an ironwood tree.
Close-up.
A large saguaro near my campsite.
A closer view. This one could well be over 350 years old.
I'm not sure what caused this damage, it goes almost all the way around.
Looking up.
A younger one, It gets more ridges as it grows bigger in diameter.
A saguaro skeleton. The internal ribs are about 1 inch in diameter, lightweight, and fairly
strong. They can be used to knock down the ripe fruit from the top of a living saguaro.
Those things that look like gourds, are the remains of holes in the saguaro that birds made
to nest in.
A prickly pear with new pads starting and flower buds.
A few shots of some christmas cactus
