The history (or: What?! Only 32MB of RAM...?)
It all started in 1982 with a Sinclair ZX-81 (as you'll probably remember: 1kB of RAM). But this machine was soon replaced by something more up-do-date...a Commodore VIC-20 (with impressive 3.5kB of RAM and already 8 colors). Mass storage was a 90-minute audio tape. Two years later I bought a Commodore C-64 (38kB of RAM, 16 colors and incredible sound) with a disk drive that could hold 180kB.
Then there was a break of some years where I didn't touch any computers until I decided to purchase a Commodore Amiga 500 (with 1MB of RAM and two disk drives). Following was my first PC, a used 486DX-33 MHz with 8MB RAM and a 210MB Hard Drive (just to get that right, that hard drive cost about 450 Dollars). Finally, in 1995, I bought the system I now use. Of course, only the manufacturer sign reminds one of the original hardware...;-)
I started learning HTML after I got an Internet-account with a local provider (incredibly slow, and first with a 28.800 Creatix modem). But in terms of HTML, there was one document, that taught me about 99% of what I know now. It's called SELFHTML and was written (and still is updated) by Stefan Mnz. It is a very well structurized and easy-to-understand manual about HTML. If you can read some german, I strongly recommend reading it. You can download it here.
Of course, I am not that fit in HTML, that I could possibly answer every question, but fortunately there is something called the FIDO-Net, and an echo called HTML.GER. Further information about the FIDO-Net can be found here.
