Information on Fixing the @Home 1.7 Software Defragmentation Problem Since many of us have downloaded and installed @Home1.7 we have found that when we try to defrag we find
that it will not defrag or if it does it will take all day. I told @Home about this the 2nd day after the software was released. However, I have found out that as of December 29, 1999 members of AT&T have not been made
aware of this problem and the pair1 and pair2 support does not know anything about this problem. I am here to inform you how to fix the problem. The cause of the problem is the TIOGA protection program that is downloaded with
the @Home 1.7 software and is installed on your hard drive automatically. For the members who want to continue to use the @Home software. I am going to give you two ways to use the software. If the software is
already installed on your hard drive, you need to remove the TIOGA protection program and folder. To do this you need to go to Start-Settings-Control Panel, then double click on Add/Remove Programs icon. Then on the
Install/Uninstall tab click on @Home TIOGA Protection to hilite it and then click on Add/Remove button. That will remove this program and it will disappear from the box on the Install/Uninstall tab. Close all programs
and reboot the computer. After rebooting double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop, double click on your main hard drive icon, double click on @Home folder, right click on the TIOGA folder and click on delete,
click yes on the message and it will remove the folder to the recycle bin. Close all programs and reboot the computer. After rebooting do a defragmentation which will probably take 10 to 20 minutes the first time.
After that defragmentation you should be back to the original amount of time it takes to defrag your hard drive. If the software is not installed on your system and you would like to use the @Home browser this is how you
can use it without installing it on your hard drive. Open Internet Explorer or Netscape web browser, on the Address line type in www and hit enter, this will open the Welcome window on your browser. On the Address
line remove the welcome and you will have http://www left on the Address line. Hit enter and the @Home browser will open for the first time. Close the @Home browser and close the Internet Explorer or Netscape web
browser. Reopen your web browser and on the Address line type in www and hit enter and it will reopen the @Home browser. To add this to your Favorites close the @Home browser and click on Favorites on your web
browser. Then click on Add Favorites and this will add as Browser. This will be your easiest access to the @Home browser without having it on your hard drive. You will be using it off the server |
