Since there is no delete button on the tool bar, how can I delete postings from news groups? Answer:
When using Messenger to read mail, the Delete button appears on the
tool bar. However, in news groups, posts are not deleted. Instead, they are marked as "read" or "unread". In news groups, "Mark" is
substituted for "Delete". To mark a post as "read", select the post by clicking it once to highlight it, then click the Mark button on the tool bar. From the pull-down menu that appears, scroll down
and click "as read".
Question:
How can I delete the news group messages that I have read?
Answer:
You cannot delete news group postings since they reside on the News server (You can cancel
your own posting, though, by going to Edit|Cancel Message). When reading messages posted in the news groups using Collabra Discussion Groups, the messages that have been read still come up every time the news
group is opened. Communicator can be configured to keep only unread messages.
1. Go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
2. Click on the plus sign (Windows) or the triangle (Mac) next to the Advanced section.
3. From the subcategories, Mail & News groups
4. Click Disk Space
5. In right menu box select Check keep only unread messages.
6. Click OK to exit Preferences.
Also you may want to click VIEW then click
MESSAGE then click UNREAD
