Profile:

I have been a Business and IT Project Manager for 4 years working within the Financial Services industry. In that time, I have managed 6 IT projects from feasibility Study through to launch - including: RAD - the development of three pensions products; DSDM RAD the development of two major corporate products on client-server and e-commerce platforms. I have also managed the development of systems and the data transfer to enable a business critical switch from a mainframe to client-server platform.

I have managed each of these projects throughout the project life-cycle: Feasibility and business study- Providing facilitating and analysis skills for the corporate sponsors / key users within a JAD workshop environment to extract requirements, determine priorities and identify areas of risk; Development Managing timescales, resources and costs while providing a conduit for issue and risk management; Implementation ensuring that testing and quality controls are met to provide a product that is fit for business purpose and that the product is delivered on time; Maintenance Organising the re-prioritisation and development of additional requirements within sub-projects.

Within my current project, I am managing a Technical team of 6 Visual Basic developers, 2 Data Managers, 2 Support specialists and a Testing Co-ordinator. The user team consists of 10 key personnel from the Project Sponsor(s) through to key users from each relevant department (Marketing, Finance, Legal, for example).

Product Experience Summary:

Work Experience:

B & CE HSM Ltd
September 1994 to Present
B&CE are the main provider of financial services to the construction industry. I began as an administrator within a small team which was piloting a computerised version of the company's main product. I quickly became involved as a key user and began assisting the development team in the design, testing and implementation of what was to be the first in a series of developments onto a client-server platform.
Within a year, I was training as a Project Manager and after six months, I cut my teeth on the RAD development of a Personal Pensions system. I was then employed to manage the development of further systems which would enable the company to move away from a prohibitively expensive mainframe platform. I co-ordinated and assisted in the analysis of the development of each project culminating in project managing the final data transfer and eventual shut-down of the mainframe.
At this point, I assisted in reviewing the corporate development methodology which resulted in the company adopting the Dynamic Systems Development Methodology (DSDM) in July 1998. I then went on to manage the successful redevelopment of the company's most business critical product within a very tight time-scale (following legislative changes) and I am now managing the entire development of the company's Stakeholder Pension product on an e-commerce platform. I have another Business Project Manager working for me to deal with the management of legal and compliance tasks and another assistant dealing with user liaison.

Freelance Television Production Assistant
July 1990 to September 1994
I worked for various companies organising film crew and equipment for promotional video and television commercial productions. This gave me a good foundation in organisation and resourcing skills as well as dealing with working within very tight time-scales and costs.

Administration and Sales - Financial Services Industry
July 1984 to June 1990
I have worked for General Accident Life, Halifax Property Services and Scottish Widows as a Claims Administrator, Mortgage Consultant and Financial Advisor Consultant, respectively. This provided me with excellent customer skills and a good working knowledge of the financial services industry.
